A little late with this information. I quit buying so much clothing years ago when I started to learn how it was impacting other communities of the world: people getting sick, water pollution, overworked, abused and underpaid. I told myself I was not going to be part of that problem and started researching the practices of companies. Several years ago I found the sites eco-stylist and the good trade. All products I now purchase are fair trade, eco centric and sustainably made. They may costs more so I buy less but I enjoy and use everything because first and foremost they are all intentional purchases and not just bought on a whim but from a wish list. The companies also do not ship in plastic, are all part of 1% for the planet, some allow you to tip and send a thank you note to the creator of your garment, support causes that align with my values and plant trees. I get a lot more with my money now than just an item and I no longer experience buyers remorse.

Same. I can't claim that everything I buy is ethically produced, but I have a few companies that I buy from occassionally that I know are ethical and good quality. I rarely buy clothes, so I don't feel bad spending more on something. That being said, not many companies have styles that I like; although, the options are getting better as more companies try to make good quality, ethically-made clothing.

this is not late information.the issue is they keep having to repeat this information over and over because we as a nation are addicted to fast fashion.

I'm 41 and I literally just threw away a pair of middle school gym shorts and a t-shirt from my 3rd grade t-ball team in the last few years (I'm a smaller woman so they still fit). I know that's a little extreme, but don't understand how people can just throw things out when it still works.

You haven’t bought clothing in years, Is that a joke? Mean to say that you are like 45 years old for example, but you still have the same clothes from like you when you were five years old
@leighhoppins9273
@leighhoppins9273 12 дней назад
That was a sarcastic kind of statement because if I said that I haven’t bought clothes in years, people would think I was wearing the same clothes I was at 13 years old and I’m 31 years old now so It’s been out years and years and years since I was 13 years old so if I was still wearing the same clothes from when I was 13 I would say I haven’t Bought new clothes year years to

@leighhoppins9273 12 дней назад
I know a lot of people who don’t have that kind of money, and people that are really really really struggling don’t have that kind of money to afford new clothes So that’s probably why you haven’t boughten any new clothes recently for a long long long time
@leighhoppins9273

Now that they are coming up with stores that pick out clothes from the landfill and clean them up and make them all good and new again And then resell them then you might be able to get some good quality clothing, Ford quite a good price do you know? It may not be brand new clothes but they are/were very very very expensive clothing. People spent probably about close to $100 or even more than that maybe even $200 just for a pair of jeans and maybe $100 on that shirt, you know and then these people find them in the landfill or People that give the clothes away to the thrift stores, people that don’t have enough money to afford brand new clothing Can get a nice pair of pants and maybe a couple pairs of pants and then maybe even three or four t-shirts or shorts even for like five bucks not even in the states

I don’t think we have to worry about that in Ontario Canada where I live because we have a great big big big company. It’s called the Salvation Army and they taken clothing and food and anything you can think of and then hand them out to people who need them. I don’t know if it’s in the states or not because he would think that the Salvation Army would definitely decrease the amount of clothing in the landfill And that doesn’t seem to be the case you know, so it doesn’t sound like they have too many stores that reuse clothing, you know Not like here in Canada I mean where I live and places around where I live like Orillia and Barrie they have places like the Salvation Army And they take in a lot of stuff

The problem is again the consumer is to blame instead of pointing out the real problem which is with the corporations.

@U-TubeAddict

I think people tend to blame the consumer because as a whole we are pro-capitalistic society. A business cannot survive if there’s no want or need by the consumer. But there’s a huge want right now for quick fast fashion so that’s why companies like SHEIN and Temu is thriving so much. If we want to instill actual positive changes, we have to address both sides, government needs to force stricter policies and people need to realize they have a shopping addiction and entitlement issue

Maybe it’s rich black woman or rich Asian woman. Go shopping and at Cabazon outlets in Cabazon California and they cater to rich Chinese. The Asians drive up in expensive cars with huge suit cases to shop. And they aren’t just women by the way. The Asian men are shopping also.

Stop buying fast fashion. Either stop buying cheap clothing that is trendy and poor quality and save up to buy fewer high quality garments, or buy second hand.

Or the ones who literally light it on fire in order to preserve the exclusivity of their brand? They’d literally rather burn millions of dollars worth of their own merchandise than see it on the backs of the masses.

And what good is all of this spending doing us? We can afford to buy 70 new outfits a year, but we can't buy a house (and no, not buying new clothes will not be enough to offset the savings needed for a home). Wages are low, work expectations are high, corporate profits are at record highs, and the consumer gets nothing beneficial except things like fast fashion. We are giving these corporations all of our hard-earned money, and for what? Low wages, environmental damage, bad working conditions, insane housing costs, etc? Maybe the economy needs to crash. Endless consumption isn't helping anyone from an economic standpoint. I don't want new clothes. I want a home, financial stability, a livable wage, etc. I'm not going to keep buying if they won't give me what I really want. They don't deserve my business.

Indonesian people like to buy imported used clothes because they are still good & don't end up in the trash rather than buying new ones because the quality is the same. But 2023 the government prohibits importing used clothes because the government cannot get taxes from there

It would be nice to see the videos rather than women showing off their new clothes, to show off their investment accounts of adding to their portfolios what they would have spent on outfits that month. Rather than $400 in blouses see what $400 in VOO would yield in a month.

If each state here in the U.S. had its own landfill of specifically clothes like how it's shown here, I think we'd view things differently. The concept of waste & consequence would be a reality for us, rather than something we ship off to another country to deal with. It's irresponsible. We can do better
