How Fast is the Lexus LS400?

In this video, I take my 1994 Lexus LS400 to Bandimere speedway, to drag race it! This will give me the quarter mile time of my car, and we can also talk about how fast these cars are, and what determines how fast a car really is.
Its sad to see Bandimere speedway go, and I'm glad I got the opportunity to run my LS400 down the track before it closes.
My final times were around 17.9 - 18.2, alot of good reaction times, most of them under .2
I explain the 4 components that really determine how fast a car actually goes down the track and explain why cars make less power at higher altitudes.

I had a 95 ls 400. I got up to 145mph and let off. It had 300k miles on it and ragged out. I loved that car.

I have a 1990 ls400 I use around 50 bhp of its 250 output.it’s a car that was deigned for luxury not the track really, it can shift if you want it to on the open road when conditions allow,and the track is a great idea if that your thing. Toyota could have put a larger engine in ls400 back in 89 but that would mean the gas gusler tax would pump it’s slicker price! What’s certain sure all of the 10 second cars no hope of travelling from New York to California in the supreme silence and comfort you have in an early model ls400

Hey man good to see some LS400 content 👍 My 96 weighs 3600lb with me on board, but the trunk is pretty much gutted, but it does have full interior. You can adjust trans line pressure with the cable on the throttle body on the 95, I assume the ucf10 is the same as they use the same trans. When stock mine made 218bhp at the wheels at 400ft altitude. Obviously I boosted it after that 😀

Nice man! thats pretty darn light, thats crazy! and whoa, I didnt know you can adjust it at the throttle body, thats interesting. Not bad! what did you boost it with?

@ClaytonBridges I went super budget, cats removed (saved a few pounds there too) straight piped back to an ebay 76mm turbo mounted in the trunk (hence no spare wheel well, more lbs lost) Electric exhaust cut out post turbo, one way just exits straight out the turbo, the other sends the exhaust through 3 silencers (but still loud) External waste gate and mechanical boost controller, running 6lbs of boost. Stock management and a rising rate fuel pressure reg means no more than 6lbs but it was still a bucket of smiles!! Removed it all now and back to stock while I put together a better set up. Rear mount is cool as the engine bay looks almost stock, lag wasn't really an issue but my exhaust was sized way too large so I was losing out there. Next plan is bigger turbo, more fuelling and standalone management 😀

I’d say through a little spray at it and do the trans valve body upgrade. My 98 gs400 on no spray took my buddys s2k and, other buddies forester st. Mine was owned and perfectly maintained by and old lady so it was mint. I did winding roads at 90+ only issue I ever had was I over headed the trans. But with a simple brake light/rear light kill switch it’s a road trip monster, I could easily take 2 hours off a 6 hour drive. My 07 gs350 outran one of those cars with the “weird blinking lights” 😅

Funny how the LS 400 always gets knocked about its weight, but it is actually a bit lighter than a BMW e39 5 series.

I got my 1992 LS 400 up to 140 mph! but li had to let off on it, as I had caught up to all the traffic that was in front of me on HWY 167! It was about 11pm on a Thursday night. 😀👍✌️🤟❤️🚫
