When I did my PRC in the mid 80s we had a lad who whilst we were chatting about fitness training we'd been doing prior to the PRC stated " I don't need to train as I work hard in a timber yard" Needless to say he failed.🤣
Hi mate, I'm in the process of preparing myself to apply and I've heard a few lads say they've struggled with lack of mobility going into training was hoping to incorporate some mobility protocol on my rest days. Any advice re: this?
Hi and you should be doing mobility everyday not just rest days. Mobility is just stretching after training. The lack of stretching will lead to injury. Rest days I recommend doing yoga just search 15 minute yoga on RU-vid and loads will come up.
If you are a sensible lad yo join either the RN/RAF as a pilot or engineer and get paid much more money. Not much call for a grunt RM back in civvy street. Loads of jobs for pilots and engineers.
Absolutely, my 25yrs in the Corps did nothing to set me up for civilian street. It bothers me every time I climb into my RS4 and blast the 258m down my drive to my electric gates. 🙄🤡
I disagree with much of what this guy said. It was too painful to listen to this video with his monotone voice. I would turn up as fit as possible. Basics would be 10k in around 40 mins. 5k in sub 20 mins. Min 8-10 pull ups. Min 40 press ups. All round fitness focusing on being cardio fit and have good strength to weight ratio and above all a mind set that says I don’t give up. It’s that simple.
@@gboy05 Have you been through training buddy? Just curious why you think these standards aren’t necessary? I’m talking from personal experience having been there.
@@rob8493 no mate got a cpc coming up. Im just going by what ive heard other people who have served have said. from what ive understood candidates should be coming with a base level fitness i.e passing all the entry tests well over the minimum. The training teams will take over from there and build recruits up. as i said sub 40min 10k is gonna be helpful but you can pass out without it... lmk what you think. thanks for your service.
@@gboy05 fair enough but please take this advice on board that you need to be a good runner. This generation cares more about smashing weights out in the gym and I imagine this is now why they have a pre CPC course as well, I passed out in 97. I’m in my 40’s now but my son has just passed his interview so we are training together. Most ex boot necks stay fit for life. Make sure you can at least get to level 12 on bleep test but aim higher. 40 press ups min. 8-10 pull ups. 50 sit ups etc. You don’t want to be the recruit that brings attention to the training team by being at the back of everything blowing out your arse. I wish you luck.
I used to vape not often but it was like twice every 2 weeks and ive stopped now will it affect my fitness me trying to join the rm? Im 15 years old and im planning to join after university.
@@leonrussell9607 joining as an officer can suck though. I used to want to do that until I found out you will probably end up behind a desk. I even emailed the Royal Marines and they responded saying yes it can and does happen.
