This guy really knows his stuff. I spent 7 years living in Spain mostly with flamenco's in moron De La Frontera in the 1960s. I was lucky enough to hear many of the greats in private fiestas , tablets and festivales. I was lucky enough to study with seven of the 10 top Flamenco guitarist of the time. No Manolo de Huelva, Nino de Ricardo, or Melchor de Marchena. It took me 5 years or so before I could start to really hear the cantes. As Brooke Zern told me it took years to realize cantes have melodies. I recomend trying to "sing" a few cantes, not to become A cantor. Richard Black had a similar experience in finding the melodies. He became a genuinely good singer, a truly impressive feat. This is an amazingly good site

This is GOLD! Just back from Sevilla, and asked all of the questions many times over the past years :) Now I always book a guitar player with a singer in the same lesson :)
