I dont miss family get togethers at all. I’m much more content with my life with my partner living my own life without the pressure of small talk or judgments from other family members. It is really nice and peaceful. Even if my family doesnt understand what I’m doing or who I am, I am happy and that is what matters 😊 I also agree we arent meant to socialize with every family member or stay in contact with every friend. Its not necessary, you have to do whats best for you and that means appreciating them in the chapters they were in and letting them go. Life isnt about being social all the time and being liked as you said. Some people dont deserve you, your time and your kindness.

I am with you there , 20 years since I saw my siblings and now I remember them as just some people I was brought up with and it doesn't bother me at all , and tomorrow I go to the funeral of a lovely 60 year old neighbor/ sister on the long journey who never totally could shake the pain of being born in a Mother and baby home and then rejected 50 years later by her birth mother who didn't want to upset her husband & children, cruelty personified, some families are better off left in the rear view mirror, Best Wishes from the West of Ireland.

It’s like the saying "What is now proved was once only imagined" and that is how your mind works. Your mind sets the pace and you work/fail/improve (Repeat) over and over and before you know it your living what your mind envisioned. What separates people like that from the rest is resilience, and ability to learn and pivot. Most people can’t take even 1 failure, they dwell on the failure. So true. These people give off negativity and they are haters indeed. One would think a real friend would be happy for you in your successes or just you’re being happy period.
