Ah man. Yeah, I’ve felt this so much during smash. I’m sure you even remember some moments where I got upset or something because of my ego while playing a game. Smash is a very competitive game for me, to the point where even today I’ll sometimes get that feeling, but now I know when it comes up and because of that, I don’t let it control me. I’ve had to look in myself about those feelings before, I even had to take a break from playing in ways that make me feel that way, because at the end of the day, I know this stuff isn’t meant to make me mad, its meant to help enjoy myself and the people I’m around.

THIS! Can’t count how many times I felt a type of way after losing, only to later realize I was trying to prove to everyone that I’m “better than you”. The games wouldn’t be fun at that point, so I had to reel back and allow myself to play to learn and have fun. Still growing in that area but it’s been a huge difference for me so far

@@Wisdomv3 its weird because its fun to be competitive you know. It’s fun to be a little mean when you’re playing against someone. Being competitive isn’t a bad thing. But its when you genuinely associate yourself with what you’re doing where things can get complicated. Even people who game competitively as a job can feel that way, you see it all the time. I guess its just about separating the game from yourself, but that can be hard seeing as how its you and your skill thats involved in it.

⁠@@Sharff514exactly. Being competitive is fun, healthy, and encouraged when both people know that they’re playing to compete and be respectful/have fun. And you can tease/mock each other if it’s coming from a non-harmful place. Like you said, it gets tricky when people identify with the competition and their egos and forget that it’s just a competition at the end of the day
