Fun fact about Sting: in the Fairy tail 100 years side quest manga, when sorano asking him to go out with her, he says to her to quit it and when she aks who he between yukino and minerva likes, he literally says "Im focused on Natsu-san"

I actually disagree. Lucy canonically has a girl crush on Erza and Mirajane, and Virgo is a Zodiac who explicitly manifests as her master's desires. Her master is Lucy and she takes the form of a masochistic maid girl. Lucy is totally bi. Mirajane, she has a very BDSM-like dynamic with Erza in the manga (we only see it in the OVAs) so I do think sex is a pretty big thing for her but only if she's into you.

It is his own fault, but to be extremely fair this didn't really become a major thing until the portion of 100 Years Quest where the gang somehow makes it back to Edolas and meets back up with Edolas Nalu to find them married and they have a kid. Until then he had ways of writing around their relationship. Once he showed that he was screwed. I'm sure he remembered the lore that while people are likely different personality wise in Edolas from their Earthland counterparts the lives of each character would likely be on parallel trajectories regardless of the world they are on. In other words, even though Natsu and Lucy act differently than their Edolas counterparts their lives are likely going to be on the same path in both Earthland and Edolas. Earthland Natsu and Lucy are just taking longer to get their because their story is still being written.

I fucking love that fairy tail is now being talked about more positively. I've always loved the show/manga and even though the plot gets kinda silly, the characters were always the main draw and I'm glad people are finally giving FT and Mashima his fucking crown. Speaking of, have you guys watched Edens Zero? It's really good and while the cast isn't as big as in FT, they are really good and even the plot is genuinely compelling. I would also highly recommend reading the manga for FT and EZ since Mashima's artstyle is amazing and the anime can only do so much.

I know my pain, my girl Lucy was getting ridiculous every week because of this relationship. as a gruvia shipper i think it's kinda odd how it went down, too. in their first arcs together, they had a lot of chemistry and most of juvia's missteps were her not understanding boundaries. in tenrou island she became more bold in her affections but it wasn't terrible, but after the timeskip the show pushed her antics into being intentionally creepy for "comedy". that goes on for a while and then suddenly...he's just cool w it? i think mashima realized how fucking weird their relationship got and decided to just scrap it and restart.
@@screamingwhales4031 I think the detriment to a lot of Mashima’s writing is that he refuses to drop certain gags. The Japanese audience loves Juvia’s obsessive yandere shit so Mashima often caters to that and leaves any sort of meaningful characterization to rot.

I feel like Juvia was also obsessive because of the bullying she went through when she was younger, she had been isolated and therefore didn’t know what it was like to have people care about her. I’m also making just some observations based on the scene we got when we first met her. Fyi, I also haven’t rewatched fairy tail in a long while so my info might not be completely accurate
this take might be heavily influenced by fanfiction, so take it as you will. But, while Fried does give baby gay, obsessed with a straight guy, energy (especially when its played up for comedy) He also has this mature, resigned energy almost, where he knows Laxus will never love him but he feels as if Laxus is the only one for him and he's made peace with that; knowing that he'll never be over him and choosing to just support him as a friend. Again, could be wrong, but that's just my take.
I personally somehow interpretate Juvia/Gray and Erza/Jellal are somehow both these bisexual pairs, which is to some extant since i saw that picture the author made where he paired Erza/Juvia and Jellal/Gray together staring at each other and i somehow kinda got this feeling from it and never was able to think about them in another way in my headcanon

I disagree with Natsu being an ace. It's not that he doesn't care about romance or sex, it's something else. As compelling as the argument is and the evidence given throughout the show, it's the interpretation. And Maxwell puts it well into words, but overlooks the ENTIRETY of the situations they bring up and the pattern in them. Whenever Lucy is put naked in front of him (big yikes and honestly obnoxious), it's in situations where there are more important things to worry about, like survival (ex. The four dragons attacking Crocus, the Ichiya apocalypse, sneaking into Avatar base, etc.). The man has priorities and knows what is and isn't essential at the moment. He doesn’t have time to care or acknowledge it because their lives and everyone else’s is on the line at that moment. During the Grand Magic Games Arc, after Lucy loses, she goes to take a shower and we get that scene where the idea of walking in on Lucy dawns on Natsu and he tries to do just that but is stopped by Erza is only one example, but it’s the moment where Natsu isn’t fighting, isn’t in a life or death situation, or watching a guildmate compete. I guess another example would be when he breaks into Lucy’s apartment and catches her “Lucy Kick” and holds her upside down, he does blush when her towel drops and gets wide eyed. He pauses when he realizes what he’s done and takes the hit from her. A third time he’s cared is when he and Gray (during the Grand Magic Games Arc) were leaning forward over the railing, looking down into the area in pure shock and small blushes at Mirajane and Jenny’s “battle”. And then the fact that he’s oblivious. He has that… youthful innocence to him where at the moment going on adventures is all that matters to him. I guess you could say he hasn’t matured just yet. But overall he could just be oblivious and it doesn’t hit him until way later. So if he isn’t ace, what do I think he is? Pansexual. To me, he seems like a guy who doesn't care about gender/sex and only cares about what lies in their personality. Which makes him open to more than just Lucy. And I agree, he definitely wants someone who can keep up with him, go on adventures with him, and not hold him down. I also disagree about him being closed off with PDA. With how extroverted he is and how open he is with emotions, it’s hard seeing him hold back affection. He definitely would be showing off his partner any chance he got and showing them affection despite who could be watching. To me, he seems almost clingy. I mean, with the way Igneel “abandoned” him, it makes sense if he had that bit of clinginess (not as much as Juvia though). I just found that to be where I disagreed and wanted to explain my side. I respect your guys' opinions, but here are just my own two cents on it.
I agree on not really seeing Natsu as ace, but he has HEAVY aro vibes (at least to me, an aroace who sees some of myself in there). He's never seemed to think about romance at all or even consider that his actions might come off as flirting ("hey Lucy come meet me alone wink wink. Yeah I just wanna dig a hole. Wait why are you mad?") though he certainly is attracted to Lucy in other ways.

Fun fact about that Erza vs azuma moment where she said that the seduction armor was for "private" use (while also pondering if she try to seduce azuma before denying it while throwing shade at Lucy). Turns out that private use was code for Erza put's seduction armor on Lucy and have her be eye candy for her and mirajane.

From what I heard Lisanna was originally supposed to stay dead, but apparently one of the animators or writers (can't remember which one) really liked her and so Mashima decided to bring her back for whatever reason. Not sure how true this is, but it would explain why she became a seemingly unimportant background character after the Edolas Arc. Shame really.
I love this anime so much. I watched it when i didnt really know what to watch and just wanted something to listen to while playing Video games. In the end i found an anime which i at first really didnt expect to enjoy that much, but fell in love with all the characters and their friendship and is now actually one of my favourite animes ever.
