Based on Gem's comments in this video, it feels like they must have relaxed the stigma around PvPing for Secret Life, which-villainous #HotGuy aside-really played well for Team #MurderCamel
Loved how Gem stepped in and did so well - was so entertaining and loved how the family dynamic played out during Limited Life.... did an amazing job stepping in so last minute...
I actually thought Gem was really great in that episode, it ended up being one of my favorite perspectives! I felt it was a hilarious idea instead of just missing the session and even better than Grian being AFK (in some ways). Gem stepped into the role and roleplaying really well. I felt she initiated well with the Etho plot and it worked great and was very funny. The amnesia cold was excellent. I really would love to see Gem in a season of the Life SMP if you get invited/accept.
With the difference between Gem and Lizzie's prep time, Lizzie has also been a member of the life series before, so she'd understand more about the series too.
You and lizzie subbing in was hilarious.😂 I hope you don't mind the comments so much. The life series is all fun and games. Because of you, I understand and enjoy pvp so much more now. 🙌
True. I was surprised Gem said there were so many mean comments about her PVPing Etho, I enjoyed the fight, even if I felt a little bad for Etho. LL is just a game after all, and killing is allowed.
with how long the others have played together, almost a decade for Cleo and Bdubs, which is how those two have such crazy chemistry, Gem fit in just perfectly.
@@PTUBE101_ yeah kinda hate that the names are so similar. you got 3rd, last, double, limited life and the other life series. Im watching new life cuz scar joined tbh.
Scott has got a bit of hate for being good at PvP in the life series and performing really well to score highly in the last 3 seasons. I must admit, whilst I don’t vocalise it. It is one of the thoughts I have when watching. With the Life series, it’s nice that people who you don’t necessarily consider great at PvP even my Hermitcraft and Empires standards are able to get to the top 3 or 4. Scar, BDubs, Ren, Cleo, BigB and Impulse have all made it to the top 4 at some point. And the fact that’s possible is something I really like about the series. But in regards to the winners, PvP wise, we have only had S and A Tier winners. I think Scott performs so well because on top of him being one of the best at PvP. He has a level head. Joel I would say is better at PvP than Scott. But he’s a bit crazy and puts himself in dangerous situations so he scores lower. I mean, that’s why Scott scored low in 3rd Life. He was reckless after Jimmy died and soon followed him. But since then, 1st, 2nd and 3rd. I know I said I don’t usually voice this and now saying all that feels hypocritical. But I would say there is a difference between laying out the facts and hating on someone for them. I try not to hate on people at all. Anyway, I don’t really know where I was going with that. Because it’s a game of fighting and survival, those who are good at it will always likely get hate from the fans of those they outlive. A lot of Joel fans were annoyed at Scott for him killing Joel and couple times and ending his series. It’s sort of an unavoidable fact of the game. Martyn got hate from some Scott and Impulse fans for the betrayal at the end. Because there are always people who want their favourite RU-vidr to win and don’t like it when they loose, leading hate to go to whomever beat them. I’m a big Impulse fan. But the extent of my feelings towards the ending was writing a fanfic where Impulse won. Because that’s what I wanted to see. I didn’t direct that feeling towards Martyn. I have just been sort of rambling. Moral of the story is. Don’t hate on people. You can not like how something went in a story. But people are people. Don’t purposefully try to hurt them.
I didn’t know getting hate for good pvp skills was a thing in the life series. Makes sense. It’s been a thing in Mindcrack and Hermitcraft UHCs and UHShe for ages. I think it’s just younger kids who get upset if their favorite guy gets killed. Especially if unfairly. This is not something any one should really pay attention to. Even all the peeps who are playing don’t care that much if they never get to win. Just getting to be in a series like this is what matters, and all the fun they have together.
@@BlockUpdateYT Oh yeah of course. It’s just that these creators often have quite a large age range since they’re family friendly. So some people watching them are mature adults who wouldn’t lash out at something so silly. But many are are the children of these adults or just children who enjoy the series and don’t have that maturity. And I think I notice it more in some communities than others. Like take how Joel was killed a couple times by Scott this time until he was out. Quite a few Joel fans got annoyed. Whereas if you look back to the Clock betrayal in 3rd Life. Impulse fans didn’t really get mad at BDubs. I think because on average those who watch Impulse and some of the more mature Hermits are generally older. Joel has a slightly younger audience.
@@gardenshed6043 Exactly that. Most Empires members have many more kids watching. I think this was one of the major reasons UHShe died. On every episode they used to have to tell viewers not to go post hate comments on the video of whoever killed them. It was a big problem that bothered the RU-vidrs because their were even some threat comments.
@@BlockUpdateYT Yeah. It’s a bit of a problem. And some people deal with hate differently. Martyn got a little hate for the ending of Limited Life. But the fact the people he betrayed were Scott and Impulse I think made a difference. Of the Emperors, Scott has a bit of a more mature audience, and since he’d won before people weren’t too miffed he didn’t win. In fact I think people didn’t want him to win even if they were fans of him. And as already established, Impulse has a more mature audience, enough that on quite a few streams after it ended, Impulse ended up raiding Martyn and I didn’t see any hate in the chat. Martyn has also said he’s fine with the hate. Saying he’s sort of used to it. Which is sad but also means he can do these things without being effected by haters.
Gem at the beginning of 2023: "I'm worried about what the viewers who don't like PvP will think." Gem at the end of 2023: "Murder camel, murder camel, murder camel--"
gem gives off such the wholesum type, she portrays herself as a innocent lil person. really makes you think you can let your guard down to her, then she kills so easly. i love it
@@luissuazo3684i think ironically that was the whole point! Considering it was only one episode she subbed I think it was fine for Gem to go OP , and remember despite them acting like they didn’t know who it was, they knew exactly who it was.
I loved when u stepped in. With so many POV i don't get often to watch all of them. The swap with cleo prompted me to watch her POV from the beginning.
The worst part of the life series is definitely the hater and the really big fans. By that I mean the people who are huge fans of one of the creators and will attack anyone who kills, traps, scams them. I feel a little bad for the first group of people because they didn’t know how big the life series would become, it was meant to be a small filler series, and then it turned into this chaotic series that they are filming 3 hours a week along with other series like empires and hermit craft. I know they could easily pull out and many do skip a season, but when you have played in a few of them people start asking “when will you be back, why did you leave?” And I can just assume it’s very stressful. But there must be a reason for people to stay and it really is some light hearted fun during the actual recording, Bdubs didn’t even record limited life so he escaped the hate and the hours of editing.
@@Theachup mixture of Reddit and her own twitter account when it comes to the backlash , but the information about Gem not coming back to the life series is pure speculation
@@haddy106she got a whole bunch of hate because she was good at PvP and because of her Boogeyman task because this fucking fandom doesn't like seeing women do good. In my opinion, if Grian has been the one to get the Boogeyman task, fans would've praised him and he wouldn't have gotten an ounce of hate but because Gen is a woman they hated her
Gem saying there’s part of her audience that wouldn’t want her to PVP… feels like she took it personally, hence attacking Etho and Tango in the Decked Out lobby whenever she saw them, just establish herself as the person who always punches people 😂
I like when creators step out of their comfort zone and typical style. I like when channels are diverse and do two or three different things. It provides more content and entertainment for me, as a viewer. With that being said, I'm also a picky viewer. I'll choose what I like best from that character and tend to stick to it. I always try different things and welcome new stuff, but I tend to stick with what I originally enjoyed . So I can understand why people wouldn't like the PVP, but I don't understand why they would tell you they don't like pvp. Creators should take control and create content that they enjoy and if viewers or fans don't like it, they should take control and watch only what they like. So if you typically do builds and that's what people like, and then once a week do PvP, and you gain a separate PvP fan base, it could be good for your channel. I feel like there's a balance to be had there.
Cleo: Can you step in for a bit? Gem: I have never done this before. I don't know Cleo: There is an opportunity to kill Etho Gem: You son of a bitch. I'm in
gem did good helped cleo get some time also some attention. etho was very high on time so im not that mad about that also i doubt etho really cared also remember there all just having fun in different ways
I swear if the only reason Gem wouldn't be in a next season of the life series is because of other people judging her for being really cracked in PVP i would riot. Like i didn't see anyone say that, that's extremely annoying. I feel bad for her she doesn't need to pretend she's not good at PVP she can act like herself and not need to worry about it, just act in the bit and kill who she wants (of course still being obliged to the rules). She could talk to Martyn about it, i just saw him talking about this. Like Grian is also cracked at PVP and some others aswell, nobody complains about that?
That's the thing! RU-vidrs often end up giving way too much value to a handful of negative comments and make decisions based on it. Good thing Gem is one of those who don't make decisions that way. Bad thing is she still puts a lot of weight on those neg comments and probably lets it bother her.
I haven't watched her streams as much (I mostly watch her on RU-vid), but I can't help but loving her especially her hair. She gives me this sort of Hermione Granger vibes. Also, I'm happy that she joined Secret Life. Gem and the Scotts! I have a good feeling that last person standing will be someone within their team somehow. She and Scott (Smajor) are good with PVP and they also have Scott (Impulse) who's good with strategies and approaches, heck I can even see him make traps and build routes in and out of their base. I personally think they're consistently the most solid team among all since they managed to survive altogether (like Cletho+Grian = Clethorian?).
what i see i a young lady that help out a friend in need at a time of need and this is why i love your content and watching how you build style i'm in the process of a iron farm in my world but i don't worry about the pressure of making content
Hold on, wait now I’m confused, ahem said she didn’t mind the shipping in this vid but I thought she didn’t like the shipping. Does she not like it? Or is she ok with it? (For fanart I wanna make sure I’m in the clear and not pushing boundaries)
I didn't think I'd ever hear the day that Grian is called good at PvP. He's not bad, don't get me wrong, but I think the first ever Boogie kill in Last Life shows some notable flaws in his playstyle
Same, especially by Gem who’s really good at PVP. He’s definitely not bad, I think Grian’s greatest issue with PVP is he’s easy to get nervous under tense situations, which is why there is a big gap between his performances
Gem is better than Grian and Joel. I would like to see her try against Scott and Martyn though. I don't know how a 1v1 of Gem vs Scott and then a 1v1 Gem vs Martyn would go.
@@rosesaysmeow8358 if you haven’t notice, most players was holding back so they can make more dramatic content. That’s the main thing that make Gem not want to join, some fans freaked out about geminislay so she couldn’t go all in when killing Etho.
@@imagebear8916 oh. i didn't know they held back. wait do you mean that like Scott could have won 3 times in a row but he held back in Double Life and Limited Life???
@@rosesaysmeow8358 Is that sarcasm? Anyway, to answer your question, no, I mean what I said. And that it only partially true, Scott never held back until the last second. From the Martin's watcher lore explaining stream after last life finale, he said that he thought they were going for dramatic fight, but Scott went full UHC. Also we kind of drifted away from the topic. My initial point is their performance in life series doesn't represent how good they're at PVP. Grian suck at PVP yet he won third life.
Because they were? When she was in Secret Life people were hating on her and saying things like "Oh, I Hope doesn't win because she doesn't deserve. This is the only season she's been in, I want someone who's been in more than 1 to win not some newby" People were also hating on her because of her Boogeyman task
side comment When will the Imp & Skizz interview you on Imp & Skizz Podcast? (try to be available for whole day, definitely needs two different sessions but i think you could do a third hour because you & skizz were on -empires- (EDIT Legacy SMP) where Tango & Scar only had empires crossover (2 or 3 months) you and skizz had several interactions on Legacy, *(EDITED)* -EMPIRES.- so Impulse might be 3rd wheel for 1/3rd of questions
@@BlockUpdateYTsorry just googled, he and Pearl collaboration was on a Legacy season. I HAVE EDITED not positive when but i remember it was year before Pearl joined Hermitcraft... I distinctly remember emailing Xisuma suggesting Pearl and a couple other "Minecraft girls" to water down the testosterone level (knew sparkly Kara wouldn't join but she was also suggested)
@Luis Suazo I mean he hasn't kept up with the pvp meta, I think it's good that nobody is forced to pull punches and pretend to be bad so the "right people" look good. You can gain and lose a reputation for pvp.
@@malpheus4299 I mean yeah but still though realistically I say he is slightly above average. But he does pull stunts out like killing dream once in a while.
Definitely a you problem. Since the beginning of time people have referred to a singular person as “they” for different reasons (eg a mystery character who people don’t know the gender to yet in fiction or something) yet suddenly when people say “actually yes those are my pronouns” suddenly it’s ooh so confusing? People just want to hate people over nothing
