We all know the story of World War 2 and how Germany almost conquered all of Europe, especially after losing World War 1.
But how did all this happen? How did Germany recover from the loss of WW1 and the hyperinflation of the 1920s?
How did Germany get so strong after losing WW1?
Well it's time to learn more about the interwar period aka the period between World War I and World War II.
Yep this is another reaction video where our favorite German reacts to more history videos and this one is specifically from the Armchair Historian.
As we all know by now, Tommy really doesn't know much about German history so in the last year or so he's been learning a lot through these reaction history videos with Twitch Chat.
The most interesting part about this one is that Germany was riddled with reparations, debt, unemployment and hyperinflation.
But by some miracle, they somehow recovered and became a powerhouse of Europe that tried to dominate the world.
Thankfully they didn't succeed and we don't have a really bad world.
As always guys, take care with the comments please, don't make me delete and have to treat you guys like children.
They were obviously bad and you can't argue anything with it, if you are remotely educated about WW2, you wouldn't say dumb stuff.

Teachers in nearly every western nation are not allowed to force political opinions on their students - in fact, they usually may not even talk about their views without trying to convince people. This whole idea of marxist/leftist schools or colleges that the right continues to bitch about is one big lie - who would've guessed. The internet is the largest cause of radicalization, especially right-wing radicalization. It's so damn easy for far right fuckheads to radicalize vulnerable youths on the internet. It happened to me, but I matured, luckily.

1:50 As a Korean viewer I can explain this. Comparing to Euros, the Korean currency 'Won' does not have separate name for paper money and that is why there are so many numerical digits. For example, 1000 cents is 10 Euro, but in Korea there is no changing, making 1000 won just 1000 won.

The case Tommy describes at 4:00 is actually fabricated. Surveillence footage actually shows he wasnt even wearing the star of david until he went outside to film. Also every single person in the lobby said he was just bitching the entire time and then stormed off. The reason he had to wait long was because the keycard system had errors or some shit.

I'll have to add that it's an ongoing investigation with no clear result yet. Prosecuters have explicitly stated that it will take some time for them to come to a definite conclusion, what you said is still just speculation.

To answer your question on South Korean currency its because similar to Japan they don't like to use decimals. Their currency isn't so large because it's a weak currency its merely because they don't use decimals like America for example which uses Dollars and Cents

@@Fun4luve groups sometimes want to appear to be something that their not just look at all the "people's democratic" groups the Soviets and similar country's had and still have (North Korea's a good example of this), thought in this cause it was a name that stuck the nazi party was all over as certain people's ideas and goals changed the party from Hitler to gobbels to Himmler to Goring to heydrich and so on. But we can't forget sometimes groups are simply named what the founders call it or what it looks like to others ex would be the KKK if a bunch of guys in the USA shows up in blankets you'll immediately know what group they are and their goals.

That rant in the middle of the video is spot on. People that are radical on either side are absolutely awful, they constantly look for someone to shift all the blame to. I personally am against illegal immigration like what is happening on the Poland - Belarus border but I'm all for any legal manners of immigration. I think that is another topic used to divide people, just because someone doesn't want illegal migrants entering their country doesn't make them racist. Why can we not live in a world where we respect the laws and not call people out for being different?

The problem is that parties like AfD and the Republicans in America market themselves as being tough on illegal immigration and wanting more legal immigrants. But when they come to power, they spend their ressources on making the legalisation process harder instead of more effective, which ironically increases the amount of illegals.

At 13.35 into the video where he says "where there are the least refugees people are more likely to vote right" is an argument that only applies to Germany and nowhere else. For example in my home country Sweden the opposite is true, where there are the most refugees in the southern parts of sweden and poor areas of the big cities is where the most people vote for the right wing anti immigration parties. Meanwhile in the northern parts of Sweden and the rich areas of the big cities where pretty much no refugees live is where people vote for the left wing pro immigration parties.

I mean in Finland, Swedens neighbor country, anti refugee talking points mostly thrive in the regions where you'd be very hard pressed to ever actually see any refugees. Helsinki region seems to vote mostly green or leftish. Helsinki region houses more then 1/5 of the total population while covering less than 1/90 of the total landmass. In addition being the capital it's usually going to be the first place foreigners and refugees end up in and the place which also has the largest percentage of non-natives.

My Great grand father was Polish and was in The Polish Home Army in the unit of Żoliborz. When The Warsaw uprising had been declared he was in the action and from the infomation from my family (as it has been passed down through the generations) he had accumalted over 40-60 kills. The hour before the Home army surrenderd on 2nd October 1944 He claimed his own life refusing to surrender to the Germans. I only know this bcs of my grand and parents this is also why a few select people know abt him and we keep it a secret. May all Polish souls that are dead rest in peace forever.

I agree with a lot Tommy says, I think it’s the goal in life to thinking logically from facts and not associate right and wrong with certain political spectrums. It is easy to tell who knows what they are talking about by how they will propose ideas and how they will talk with others. 07:08 also a interesting theory was, that because of the overall poor population Berlin degenerated in one would call, the greatest brothel in Europe where no wish was too depraved to ask for(Children, Man, Woman, Animal you name it). Your statement really hit with me at around 15:00. I always get pissed when they try to classify what part you're on too. You decisions should be based on what is need not which party you're 'on'. I've seen people changed when the conversation went political. I remember 2 colleagues talked beside me. One of them said something about a party and the woman he was talking to went super aggressive and serious and super aggressively defend her party and insulted the other party as hard as she could as quick as she could.

Of course it's pretty dumb, especially if you're informed about specific NSDAP policies and how they were implemented, but the Nazis being somehow "socialist" and "left wing" because of their name is still a common talking point used by american right wing grifters like Crowder or Pool. It's incredibly ignorant from a historical perspective but if you're from another continent with no background knowledge on Germany you might believe it, that's what makes it dangerous and why I agree that such comments shouldn't be left unchallenged in Twitch chat.

@@HHVVNNWhat you're saying is a textbook example of what I criticized in my comment, no offense though. The economic structure in Germany from 1933 onwards and the whole reasoning and intention behind how it was organized and influenced had nothing to do with socialism at all. There were no policies that were based on inherently socialist values, there isn't really much to say about that if you consider the historical source material. There are a few (sometimes very lenghty) videos on RU-vid that try to make that claim, but they're all willingly making the same mistake of completely ignoring the greater historical context, the societal structure of Germany and the actual intentions and ideology of the regime by focussing on single aspects of economic policies. I just think it's a very strange argument to make.

The debts were all America's fault. Yanis Varoufakis makes the point that in every multi-state war in Europe before 1914, the victorious allies would write off their debts to each other so they could rebuild and move on. In 1918, the USA refused to write-off everyone else's debts to US banks, so they were forced to put the bill onto Germany as reperations in the Versailles Treaty, as well as all (Britain, France, Italy) being thrown into austerity to make payments to US banks themselves. That weakened their economies and made them all more susceptible to collapse when Wall Street crashed, so they would be militarily weaker in 1939. And it was the austerity imposed on Germany which catapulted the Nazis to power, not the inflation. The anti-inflationary measures afterwards created mass unemployment and extreme polarization. Rather than force businesses to freeze their prices and increase production to make up for the gap between supply and demand, the conservative government put all the suffering on German workers and the small businesses dependent on workers' spending. So the big picture is it was the US banks which did it.

That is a good point but you can not say that the debts where 100 americas fault even when they are mostly and for the biggest part behind it. The causes for the nazi takeover in Germany was very complex, with the french occupation of the Ruhr a significant factor. US Banks and goverment caused much more destructive consequenses for Europe after the crash of 1929, mainly of their actions after the first world war

@@LabreezyFam What free? The US sucked in the entire wealth of Europe selling arms and munitions, getting its first taste of full employment and seeing the US economy double in size during the war. The USA got to play the same game again the second time. Besides which, bank credit is fictitious money that only exists on balance sheets, which doesn't exist at the time loans are issued, and only comes into existence as repayments are made. It's making the future pay the past.

In 1924 the U.S put forth the Dawns Plan which negotiated the reduction of Germany's reparations by about 1/3 and made a 58-year payment plan. Then in 1929, The Youngs plan gave loans to Germany (though the U.S demanded fast repayment as the Wall Street crash happened a few months later) So to say that the U.S didn't try to diffuse Germany's economic crisis is a little untrue.

I am from Saxony, Germany and visited some years ago the holocaust memorial at Portland. Even though it was way before my time i felt guilty. Kinda weird, but we nearly cried. It was just overwhelming.

I think he makes a good point. Internet has open up a lot of radicalization venues, but also the ability to make friends with people from a lot of different cultures. In early 1900s you were born into your bubble and stayed there. Interestingly and ironically even western far right groups are far more globalized today, instead of hating on concrete neighboring countries they are talking about pan-western or pan-white culture under threat from the nebulous concepts of immigrants and globalists.

Is it better to let them cement into their position and prevent provably false ideas from spreading, or take the incredible effort to change his mind when most likely it will cement them anyway? I don't see an easy solution to this problem, and while I do think you have the right idea - try convincing him he's wrong anyway - Tommy may not be the most prepared for that argument, and given what he was saying banning him probably isn't much worse than trying to convince him otherwise.
