Some of you might not know, but China has a really long history and this long history of theirs, one time they had a literal real life battle royale in the period preceding the Three Kingdoms. Today Tommy will learn more about the history behind games such as Dynasty Warriors and Total War: Three Kingdoms. This period is really interesting to listen to because it's actually insane how much stuff happens in such a short period.
REMEMBER! This is all educational and for entertainment! We will moderate comments, so behave yourself and keep it educational.

Fun fact: there was an actual era called “Seven Nations contest” (called “Thất Quốc Chiến Hùng” in our language) result in the final winner to unify the entire nation called Qin Shi Huang - founder of Qin Dynasty That era is the closest definition of “free-for-all battle Royale” term. Also check the manga called “Kingdom” - it was written around that aforementioned era

There is an Asian food market in Peoria Il, (Across the river from where I live) Which has a shrine to Guan Yu in the back. The owners where impressed that I knew who that was, more so that I had read the book. Which if you never have, I highly recommend.

Shogun 2 was well received even though it was very limited in unit variety but had a solid foundation. I havn't played 3 kingdoms but I played the hell out of Shogun 2, ended up too dissapointed in Rome 2, and had good fun with warhammer but it didn't quite capture me like shogun 2. 3 kingdoms smells like a Rome 2 though. =\

To answer your Question about the Greek and Roman Relationship with China, it was mainly “our equal on the other side of the world” and the Persians were a barrier between the 2 stopping contact!

Tommy check out the War of the Heavenly Horses between the Greco-Bactrian Greeks and Han dynasty China. It's really interesting. Chat really likes to answer questions it doesn't even know the correct answer to. The Romans and Greeks knew of the Chinese for awhile from trade goods flowing down the silk road and the occasional travelers. Romans and Greeks sometimes even referred to China as the Rome of the East - viewing them as almost an equal force to be reckoned with.

As someone who played all the Dynasty Warriors games as a kid (Dynasty Tactics was actually the best one, even though it's nothing like Dynasty Warriors and honestly is a lot more like Total War or EU4), it's fun to watch Tommy geek out over it. Amazing that a German kid and an American kid could become so engrossed in Chinese pre-history from thousands of miles away though video gaming :) I actually bought the two Three Kingdoms books a few years ago and they're really good, although they're both like a thousand pages lol

I think some people knew in 1000BC that China exists. They 100% knew India. If you trade with them, they trade deeper into the east. Im sure that they were some people from Mesopotamia that went to China then. In Roman times 100% Chinese guy were in the Roman Empire. For a trade - imagine that not only Egypt in a bronze age was trading with indus valley civilization, but also to make bronze you need tin, that wasnt avalible in the region and was probably imported from Afghanistan or British Isles. In over 1000BC (some belive that interupting trade of tin was one of the reasons that bronze age collapse was so massive and made affected civilizations go back in progress and technology, because they coudnt even make thaeir tools)
