What ACTUALLY Happened To The Only Player BETTER Than Michael Jordan? The Most TRAGIC Story In NBA History SUBSCRIBE: bit.ly/basketballdive SUBSCRIBE: bit.ly/basketballdive #nba #lenbias #michaeljordan
They could have also won another title or two in the late 80s or early 90s. He could have been a difference maker in 86-87 season which the Celtics lost to Lakers in 6.
I still haven't forgotten about Len Bias. I was a huge college basketball junkie in the later 80's and his rise only to have his life cut short before he became a professional was a huge tragedy.
Tribble was just high and trying to tell them look this is Lenny Bias, the number 2 draft pick, hurry tf up. Not sure why anyone thinks it's unusual to repeatedly mention his name. If I found Lebron James fishing out I'd say the same thing on 911... Look mfer this is LBJ move your ass!
On his iPod. He meant lol….cds may have been available but a cd player was probably 700 dollars in 84. What college kid in the 80s had 50 dollars let alone 700??
@Draper11 in HS I had no expenses. I worked at Mickey D's and I had a paper route . Good times. Grade 8 it was pizza Vhs movies and the arcade. Grade 10 it was CD'S and Pu-nani.
MJ won a national championship and he wasn’t a crackhead. Bias was good. During that time even the Mayor of DC was on crack. Len’s lil brother got popped in PG Plaza. Walter Berry I think won the award over Bias.
Crackhead may be a stretch as he was still a well accomplished athlete. He definitely fucked with the chicken heavily at Maryland tho. Tragic. Crazy how mj introduced himself to bias as “black ice” then bias died off that white after the draft where he was wearing a white suit..
I honestly don't think Len Bias was a crackhead, either. He was the type of guy who, if he was at a party and had a beer or two, he'd stop at the local high school track to run it off. Okay, he smoked a little pot, but show me a college kid who didn't. I've always believed that Bias either simply got some weed that was heavily laced with crack, or as presented here, he did lines of coke and that's what killed him. There were guys who came out of that draft who had serious drug and alcohol issues (Chris Washburn, Roy Tarpley), but I don't think Bias was one of them. Bias simply made a bad decision and paid the ultimate price.
@@camoss3724 everyone in the DMV was smoking crack back then. Even the Mayor of DC got busted smoking crack. It was an epidemics back then especially in the black community. Dudes that played ball and were well known in that location smoked coke.
@@russelljohnson437 Why? What kind of dumb comment is that? I’ve lived everywhere from the projects in NYCc to Rhode Island Avenue in DC. I’ve known many black crack heads. Never hung out with white people 😆
Had Len lived we would have seen Len finish with three minimum rings with the Celts and possibly many more. He would have been a Hall of Famer, top 5 player of all time for sure. If he took his Game to a Higher level like MJ did we would be talking about MJ and Bias like Magic and Bird and Lebron and Kobe would be not even in the conversation. His Jumper was the prettiest thing one could ever witness on a Basketball court with a quick release with shades of Bernard King...and Leaping ability and explosiveness like Shawn Kemp/Dominque Wilkins. Three Titles minimum, Two to three MVP's, Two to three Finals MVP's. 27 Points per game, over 50 percent from the field. 80 percent FT shooter, 9 rebounds avg, 4-5 assists, 1.2 steals per game and 1.5 to 2 blocks per game. Jordan would have one to three less Rings.. so it would be even between them as far as Titles.. and the discussion for the Greatest of All time would be basically a Tie between the Two! He would have changed that position small power forward..and Changed the Pro Game as well just like Jordan did.
I heard the Len Bias story so many times and I still can't believe how his tragic death could happen. Such a young promising pro basketball player and he could be among the legends surpassing MJ and Kobe's stature as the greatest athlete in his field of sports, period. What a waste of his own life. RIP Len.
I remember when he died like it was yesterday. I wasn't even a Celtics fan, but I was so excited that he was picked by them as they instanstly became my favorite team. Auerbach loved him. I couldn't wait to see what Lenny could do with the Celtics. When the news hit about his death it was truly unbelievable. Man what a downer for a young kid who was crazy about basketball.
Bias was great but he wasn't better than Jordan. Jordan got the best of Bias in college and it would've been the same in the NBA. Jordan was just on another level.
Jordan was better suited to play the 2 guard from the jump. Len being a bit bigger would have more trouble getting around players but he would have been a more athletic TMac. He had more of a defensive mindset too coming into college very raw and he was guarding forwards and bigs. Once Len played with Larry and Mchale enough he'd definitely work on his dribbling and passing a lot more but his jumpshot was already beautiful. Wouldn't have taken long for him to adjust and I see Larry with 5-6 chips by 1990. Can't see an old Kareem in position to contest Mchale or Parish try and go up for many contests on Len dunks. He'd probly have his way with Pistons too everyone would be prepared to play non fouling defense and try and slow Bird then Len comes in full speed and can do pretty much whatever he wants.
I was very High on Bias but I was Bias about Len Bias! He got High not only on the Court but off it as well.. his Reebok Shoe deal's roll out debut first Shoe would have been called the 'High Bias' to go head to head with the Nike 'Air' Jordan.
Glenn Robinson and Christian Laetner were great college players too. They had so so NBA careers. But at least they had careers, and all they had to do was stay off the crack.
damn its crazy of like back in 2008 when i was learning about him it was a pretty obscure topic in the NBA fan community and now years later lots of people are talking about it over the yrs
So how can you say he is greater than MJ if he don't got 6 NBA professional titles and MVP. There are a lot of players good when they are young, look at the NBA players.
Exactly! I am like what are they looking at, I have seen highlights of this dude and he is just a normal Small Forward. It's not like he was playing like Dominique Wilkins in the 80s. Forget comparing this dude to MJ. Compare him to players in his position. Dominique was 1000 Times better than this dude but they want to compare him to MJ.
Wow This video really really hit me like a tank. I grew up a savage Duke fan, but my favorite player was no doubt Len Bias. His game transcended that era of college basketball. His baseline jumper was deadly and he rarely missed it, if he got into the paint, face it…you were the attraction on his long line of posterized victims who got jammed on. I absolutely loved Bias. So imagine my reaction when he was drafted by Boston, which is my favorite professional basketball team! I was only 11 years old when this tragedy occurred. Awful Choices young people….. Choices They matter
So we are cool with assuming Len was going to be better than MJ but its unfathomable to think the Bulls wouldve won 8 straight if MJ hadnt retired? Lebronsexuals are hilarious.

Y'all always bringing up LeBron when clearly this been said since the beginning of time but we'll never know since he died before showing what he's capable of
Wow, he even knew to stay away from women back then, way before the internet, social media, and BBLs. Smart man! Women will never be worth destroying your life for and he knew it. RIP sadly.
@6:18 “He was quicker and taller than Jordan…” Ok he was taller and a better jump shooter in college than Jordan at the time but “quicker”? FOH…Jordan was still more explosive, better ball handler and a much better defender. Sure Bias could’ve been great in the NBA but too many “what ifs” would be there…drug problems? Injuries? You never know…
That shoe deal with Reebok? Yea. That’s what got him killed. Nike wasn’t about to have competition for Air Jordan. Telling y’all Bias was murdered. It’s was business & Bias was going to challenge Jordan with a leg up playing for the Celtics.
really???do you think his better than MJ ahahahaha, MJ is much more better all around than Bias his just another forward Karl Malone is much Better than Bias

He for sure had a better mid-range game and Karl Malone his game was similar to Dominique Wilkins but if he was able to learn from magic bird Robert parish and Kevin McHale he would have known to be a superstar and learn how to win not saying you would have been good as Jordan you never know but he for sure would have been a competitor and every season he was getting better and better he had the basketball frame for a 6 '8 Forward and showed that he's a scoring machine and rebounder I most definitely would have florished well as a NBA player he most definitely probably even been like prime David Robinson
