How Godzilla X Kong 3 Will FIX The MonsterVerse!

It seems to me the Monsterverse has 2 big problems. 1) It has a case of Dragonball-itis. Godzilla has to keep powering up to match each leveled-up threat. It's getting old. 2) The Hollow Earth, while an interesting concept, has taken over the Monsterverse. Every new monster has to come from there, or we have to go back there to get the next Mcguffin. So, in every movie, we have to go back to hollow earth. It's limiting the storytelling. It's the same problem with Marvel and the Multi-verse. Once you open that Pandora's box, you can't close it again. Once you've introduced a hollow earth or multi-verse, you can't ignore it anymore. Just my take

I just want to see Godzilla in the spot light again, that is to say: put Godzilla ahead of Kong in priorities.

I'm glad that you’re talking about worldbuilding. I believe worldbuilding is an important aspect of a cinematic universe, and it's unfortunate that the MonsterVerse hasn't focused on it. For instance, their advanced technology raises questions. How was this technology acquired? Is it available to the entire world, or is it restricted to Monarch? Other aspects to consider are how the world is coping with the presence of monsters, but you get the idea.

More G-man screentime = More Power. Also we need to go to the past, talking about Godzilla's origins and have similar atmosphere to Godzilla 1 and Godzilla KoTM

King of the monsters is one of my favorite movies ever. It’s dark tones. With its slight lighthearted moments made for a great film

I wouldn’t say it’s a bad change I love the different monster verse tones we have our 2 origin stories, a toho monster throwback movie, a wonderful versus movie and a documentary of Kong becoming King. The next movie just needs to be more serious but keeeppp the amount of monsters, I love the monster focus

I think a mix betwen GxK's and KOTM's tones would be perfect for the MV, still keeping the crazy action scenes, but also having time to develop the lore of the universe, dive deeper into these characters, like they did in KOTM with Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah.

I would love to see more of Godzilla since Kong’s story has ended. He has found his own kind while Godzilla has not. Is he the last of his kind and what happened to them? I feel like that needs to explore more.

I feel like King of the Monsters still has the best balance of realism and fantasy, that perfect middle ground where action felt weighty while still having some fun with the more mystical aspects of the universe. KOTM is my favorite, mostly because of the way it treats the monsters as massive, mythical entities. Practically gods. Like the Mothra emergence scene or godzilla pulling up on Castle Bravo.

Another issue is that we're STILL continuing with the non solo film approach. At this time we got plenty of Godzilla and Kong sharing the screen and it's gonna be almost a decade of this once GxK 3 comes out. We need to go back to solo films!

I want the next film to be more of 2014 crossed with kotm with a more grounded with the feel of knowing that these titans are causing damage around the world with the consequences of the destruction and how the humans are struggling to live in the world of these God like monsters.

Honestly, I missed those Godzilla scenes where he lets out a big, loooong, dramatic roar. I get that the recent movies have been kong centered. But I still want to hear his iconic roar. And Godzilla has been my favorite of the duo, and while I personally thought gxk was amazing, I really hope the next movie does the g-man justice.

Ok, first off, like 99% of us have been Godzilla and King Kong fans since we were kids. This whole Monsterverse thing has been a fun ride. I don't need the people lore in this as much. Let Toho keep rockin' that aspect. My favorite entry in the Monsterverse was KOTM. I really have enjoyed all them though. 2014 was good, but if you use fast forward to all the good parts, the movie is only 20 minutes long. But I get it. In these times of social media, not everyone is gonna be happy. Oh well, is what I say. IMO, the Iwi (skull island or hollow earth) are a billion times better than the Xillians ever were. There is no fix to what really isn't broken. Honestly, can't we just all say... "This is a great time to be a giant monster fan." Because I'm just sitting back enjoying this roller coaster of great movies.

I think it'll get worse if they make another godzilla and kong crossover. They need to make another single protagonist movie

In my opinion, I think King of The Monsters, had the best blend in terms of mood and setting.

I would love to see it go back to the darker theme of the 2012 trailer. the humor has been nice but I want to see dark and grim again.

I feel unlike Minus n Shin, Monsterverse movies aren't about humans. The Monsters are the protagonists. Adam did a great job emotionally connecting audience with Kong in his previous films. I want more of it. The world building stuff is a nice touch too but I don't want them to carried away with it too much. I want the Kaiju's to be the focus.

I made this suggestion in the previous video, but if Legendary is unable to tell the past stories of Godzilla and the other Titans due to budgetary concerns, they can tell them through either a comic miniseries (like "Skull Island: Birth of Kong") or release a Monsterverse Encyclopedia (in the vain of "The World of Kong: A Natural History of Skull Island"). Seriously, it's not that hard to create a timeline of past events and make some adjustments if need be.

I feel like people are nitpicking with their issues with latest monsterverse movies. They were more focused on the MONSTERS story, not the humans story, hence less focus on how annoyed/upset etc the humans are and it was nice to get a feel for what the monsters are going through, they are the main characters after all. The world building is pretty much done besides twists to shake things up, which is what every movie has to and has been doing. Going back to human effects too much will be a huge negative in my opinion. It will be HARD to find the perfect middle ground, but we don't want super focus on humans and only 5 minutes of monsters in a 90-120 minute movie.

Personally, I do not care if we get more serious films or more goofy, Shōwa-esque films. The thing I want to see Grant Sputore do is give us better humans. People keep complaining about the humans in the Monsterverse, and want more monsters. They don't actually want more monsters, they really just want better humans. The reason that Kong: Skull Island is my favorite Monsterverse film is because they have a good balance between good humans and good monsters. Godzilla 2014 has great humans, but not so great monster action (this is of course my opinion) and KOTM is the opposite. Not so great humans, and great monster action. (again, this is my opinion.) GvK and GxK kind of both have decent humans and pretty good monster action. Especially GxK. GxK is my second favorite MV film, but it still has problems. In conclusion, I don't really care about the tone. I just care about the quality rather than the quantity. O yeah, and we need more Godzilla focused movies again rather than Kong focused films.

I want Godzilla to have his own movie again without Kong. Or at least with Kong in a mere cameo.

How funny to see people clamoring for the more serious and grounded approach less than a year after I was getting shouted down on every RU-vid channel talking about Godzilla by fans who said they didn’t care if it made no sense and was completely stupid, they wanted monsters punching each other and space Godzilla….🙄

First they wanted more monsters, and their mayhem and destruction, with less humans, but now they want back more humans 😂😂

I think it's definitely time we take a break from the more light-hearted tones of GvK and GxK (which is funny because GvK had a very little silly moments in it compared to it's successor but I digress). However, there is a downside to going back to the seriousness of the earlier Monsterverse films: tonal whiplash. If they don't play their cards right and go back into the serious tone very abruptly, then that's going to turn audiences away and the film won't be successful. Would it be like watching the movie Rampage then you turn around and start watching War for the Planet of the Apes right after. They have to gradually get people back into the grounded feel if they truly want to be serious again. You can't just throw it out there and expect people to be automatically on board with a serious film after the last one. Not that I don't have a hope for this new movie, just being cautiously optimistic.

I hope the Monsterverse returns to the darker more serious tone. Don't get me wrong I have loved all the Monsterverse movies but a darker more serious Monsterverse is what we need. I love lore so bringing in my lore is needed as well. Also I'd like to see more of a mystical mysterious Monsterverse ,to keep us guessing. I am a live long Godzilla fan and I will always be a Monsterverse fan.

On top of me wanting the next movie to be darker and have it focus on Godzilla, I would also like to see Godzilla's evolved form be utilised better. I llike what Adam was going for with the Evolved design, especially with the elbow spikes and the thagomizer, but I feel he didn't do a good job at utilising them in Godzilla's fights. In the next movie, Godzilla could use his elbow spikes and thagomizers to slash his opponents or use them like mini dorsal plates which allow him to use charged hits.

For a godzilla solo film, I think an interesting idea would be the Prey approach for the predator franchise: change the human era, like ancient japan or maybe even greece or mexican (very unlikely, the way I know hollywood) setting

Personally one of the things I hated about GxK was that most of the time the kaijus were in the hollow earth That place makes them look smaller than they are. Also I prefer a darker tone That's why I loved kotm

I'd like to see it focus more on the Monsterverse lore, the consequences of each battle, and maybe show a bit of nuance to the characters. Even show more of Godzilla's past, how he became the last of his kind, and what the future might hold for him

GxK was a movie more about Kong finding his home and his people. They've already said the the next one will be more about Godzilla and some of HIS backstory. So, this would be a good time to take a recipe out of 2014 and sprinkle alittle 2019 do something grittier, with some lighter more morbid humor, maybe? 😊

Yes! Finally someone is talking about how monarch has taken such a back seat, it’s really disappointed me. I’d love to see more of the Argo, the ospreys and the outposts, but we don’t see any of this in the latest films.

This series is scratching my Transformers Bayverse itch. I love how much more crazy they are now. Hope they don't change it.

I enjoy both I like dumb, fun, and the mystery aspect so if they’re able to combine the two, I’ll be happy because seeing massive high Jews fighting each other is always a good time in my opinion of course

Personally I don't mind having dumb fun because toho is out there putting out more serious films to compensate. Though I do wish that the monsterverse was more comparable to the Heisai series than the showa series

Edwards and Doherty nailed it with their tone. I enjoyed Wingard’s contributions, but I think the Monsterverse should return to the stronger first movies.

I am one of the few who actually watch these for the dumb fun. I like the silliness. I can't take my young kids to too many movies, these are family friendly and fun imo

The monsterverse is not meant to be dark, it’s a callback to the shows era, especially the newer movies, I think the movies are doing just fine. I don’t want an evil Godzilla, it’s different from minus one for a reason. Also, hollow earth is a great place made for this universe, as it is another locating for story building, city destruction gets boring eventually

I honestly want both silly Kauju action and grounded lore focused films filled with mystery and intrigue.

I will undoubtedly say and one thing I hope they do not change, the monster kills are absolutely fantastic. Each one of them is written and shot like an OG mortal Kombat fatality.

Given all these points, a King Ghidorah movie sounds like exactly what we’d need. It’d explore where Ghidorah came from, how it came to earth, and we’d see more of him and Godzilla’s rivalry. Not to mention the lore it could add You know how it’s theorized that Mars was once able to sustain life like earth, and we don’t really know why that’s not the case now? A lore piece I would add in the MonsterVerse is that Ghidorah was responsible for that, and that Mars is what Earth would’ve looked like if he succeeded in King of the Monsters We’d get the terror aspect back because, let’s be honest, there is NO way you can do a Ghidorah movie without him being portrayed as worthy of fear (especially with how much of a menace he was in the 2019 movie), there wouldn’t be a ton of humans (not that we’d need any; that whole interaction between Kong and Skar King alone proves they’re skilled enough to tell a story without them), and it’d expand a lot on the lore and add weight to King of the Monsters. It’s not a “necessary” movie, but I bet it’d be a really good one

Only 5 million??? That's... incredible!!! To be fair, there isn't any big action-stuff present, and no over the top expensive actors, or script-rewrites + reshoots, usualy lethal, quality-wise. But, that's still nearly nothing.

Is the movie gonna be more serious in tone probably. More grounded I highly doubt it. Just because this director did a serious movie a few years ago doesn't mean that he's gonna continue doing the same thing. He might wanna switch things up and wanna make the movie he wants to make. All the previous directors been doing this since this series started. All I'm saying is Let's wait and see.

Imo I liked the past two movies very much! As a Kong fan, I loved that my dude was shown love on his own stories. But now that Kong has finally reached his goal of finding his family. I can say as a fan that I am also fulfilled on Kong’s story. So for me, to save the monsterverse. I think it’s time for the movie to go back to the separate paths they were on in the beginning. Godzilla having his own movies and Kong having his own as well. I feel like having both is killing the hype for something really big that is to come. Kong imo won’t be needed for a while since he’s going to grow his family/army. But for Godzilla, possibilities are endless. Idk that’s just my opinion tho

The potential of this upcoming film is pretty good and it's something that mechagodzilla should have been saved for (like his role in GVK was cool and all and it was a cool robot design but as a mechagodzilla he felt kind of short in my opinion in with a better design he could really shine in that is film and it's too bad they've already used him)

If im being honest here. Its not a big problem to me really but i would like a more serious movie. Im not to interested in going back into the past. Im fine with them either using comics or series but if they do im completely fine with that. Im not to picky. What I would like to see are three movies. Godzilla vs biolante. Mothra vs battra. Kong and his clan vs a horde of massive skullcrawlers prehaps or just maybe give him some type of big enemy that makes sense. I would also like to see more of rodan and the other monsters in the monsterverse. I hope they do add in jet jaguar somewhere. Its way to early in the monsterverse for space godzilla and or destr. Im also not to picky with the hollow earth. Matter of fact I love it and I hope they flush it out more but that can be done in the series or even the comics. I think its time for worldbuilding. Maybe they can add in more toho monsters and have them cause some havoc but it has to add into the monsterverses lore and not just show up fight and die. Maybe have these monsters be experiments gone wrong or juat accidental mutation or something lol. I do love godzillas new form and I hope they do not get ride or it and maybe continue to make the gman stronger. They do need to utilize his form more properly. Maybe see him use those elbow spikes of his. See him using those massive claws in a more effective way would be cool. This is just my thought process but im not a picky person so I can just role with the follow to a point. Dont let this become another mcu because if that happens. Then we got a preblem because they is some much untapped potentially and material.

I want more stuff like King of The Monsters. The characters were alright and the monster fights looked great. The only thing it was missing was monster screen time.

How to fix it: Less goofy plothole-filled writing, a better deign for Godzilla that isn't anorexic and sounds like he has a bad case of strep throat, no physics engine breaking, a bigger budget and a darker tone like 2014.

Personally I am happy with the Monsterverse's goofiness and fun, but I do not mind changes in aspects such as worldbuilding and better humans so long as it does not come at the Monsters expense and affects their time to shine. A major complaint many people had in the past was cutting away from the Titan action to go back to more humans, GxK and GvK delivered on the kaiju action we have been craving for a long time now, there was no constant cutting away from the Titan action. I think a perfect type of balance would be the world building from Kotm combined with the action that we got in GvK/GxK. Continue on world and lore building with better humans but do not make the titans feel like an afterthought or constantly cut away from their time to shine just to go back to more humans. That was a huge if not the biggest complaint back then was cutting titan time away to go back to the humans which frustrated people, instead give time for worldbuilding and lore building with the humans and then the time with the Titans, focus entirely on them and their action sequences so that way you find that balance, we get the world and lore building and we get that Titan action we pay to go see. Neither aspect will suffer and there won't be as much complaining about how there are either too many humans that it gets boring because the monsters feel like an afterthought or too many monsters, not enough human development. overall a mix between Kotm and GvK/GxK I think would be the best way to improve upon certain aspects in the Monsterverse. You get your world and lore building while giving the kaiju proper screentime and action. Pacific Rim I feel did it best when it came to such a balance, we got our human characters, the world building of how the world faced the kaiju threat, and when it came time for the monsters themselves, we got plenty of that kaiju action people paid to go see, they did not shy away from giving the monsters their time to shine and the humans did not suffer either.

I prefer to see this much more serious for a Godzilla film and bringing in destroyah would be to early for him to appear in the next film

Personally we could see a kotm like film or Maybe something like the heisei era were you can mix science fiction and dark tones. I kinda want a more heisei/early millennium era like film.

I think that Godzilla x Kong answered the questions which Godzilla vs. Kong gave its audience about why Godzilla was so angry at Kong in particular, where Kong's species went and why they disappeared, and how Ghidorah got frozen in the ice, but I agree that, now that the Hollow Earth mystery has been fully explored, it is time to start setting up a new story arc to keep the MonsterVerse from becoming too stagnant. Basically, I feel that Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla x Kong was the Avengers of the Monsterverse and tied up all the loose ends up to this point, but now it's time to start setting up their "Infinity Saga."

I think the next Monsterverse movie needs to be more grounded and less silly, and to show a greater depth of the Kaiju world and lore included

Godzilla needs a stand alone movie.

The godzilla vs/x kong movies advanced kongs story, and seriously fleshed out the monsterverse/hollow earth. The next few movies should be more singular and character driven. More focus on the Gman, and a handful of humans worth rooting for.

GXK 3 needs to be similar to GXK just focus more on Godzilla, show little/no human characters, show more of the Mythology/Lore and show Colorful day and night time battles.

Look I get your point, I like the last movie a lot because we got a lot of fights and more creative in my opinion. The problem that I have with what your saying is to provide a more focused on the human and how they feel of this monster destroying everything. I personally have never care for that type of things I want to know more about the titan and we're they came from what will happend to them. I don't care for people in this universe, and I think is kinda generic when people do that I want a film that is more creative show me the story of the titian true their eyes let them tell us what happend. I feel like it’s possible for a Godzilla x Kong movie to be a little silly and a little dark and grounded and still be a good movie.

Here’s what I want to see: 1. Godzilla 2014 model. It’s more grounded and has green and yellow colors (as shown in the G14 VFX breakdown and bonus features. Giving Godzilla a green color makes him more dinosaurian and reptilian. 2. More Godzilla screen time. The last two films were more Kong-centered while Godzilla was kind of shoved to the wayside. Don’t get me wrong, I like Kong, I just like Godzilla better and he’s the main character of the Monsterverse.
