Scariest thing about the Oilers is that Leon and Connor haven't hit peak, sustained performance yet this year. They more than likely will, and it'll be GLORIOUS!😊

The top line of McDavid, Nuge and Hyman looks like a power play for over 50% of their 5 v 5 play. And even better, the Oil were are winning ugly 1 and 2 goal games for most of this heater so we can't wait for the playoffs. You want an ugly gritty win? You want fire wagon hockey? If we get Perry we will have a rat line to throw off the other team's game and focus

Attach a 1st+prospect with Campbell. The cost to creating cap space is to trade draft capital and/or prospect. Heck, they might have to send over multiple 1st’s depending what the other trading partner wants. They can do anything with 5 million of free cap space. They’ve demonstrated that they don’t need Campbell and his contract. They have to find a way to shed that contract. The important question is which GM wants to help the Oilers win their cup?

Right now they are healthy and playing well. It will be interesting to see if they carry this past the all star break. Most teams that get to the playoffs end somewhere around 66-68% win point rate.. It will be interesting to see what happens when the inevitable injuries happen. They always do... Look at Vegas. Their expected starting D-Fense has played exactly 1 game together as a unit. Their team as expected has played exactly ZERO games together. We shall see how this all shakes out.

No offense boys, but this entire clip sounds like you aren't very familiar with the Oilers season. They are dominant with a bullet in xGF and xGA. They are dominant in terms of CF/CA, and are playing a significantly stronger defensive system compared to last year's team. Every metric and the eye test both support the Oilers. They are still a sub 1.00 PDO team as well

They've won a few games 2-1 on this streak also, so it's not even always about getting a lot of points. It isn't even all McDrai anymore, we're finally getting depth scoring and winning games where 29/97 don't even get a point.

@VirulentGunk
@VirulentGunk 8 месяцев назад
@@rickpapineau5939 yeah, I mean, it's not a lot, but the Oil would usually lose those games (70 out of 80 times I suppose lol) - the game against Calgary the other night for example, 97 only had 1 apple in the Ottawa game. Usually when those two are held at bay that's it, we lose - but we've been getting some more depth scoring out of bottom six (and miracle man/best selling author Zack fricking Hyman) - and now the news about Corey Perry... that middle/bottom six might make some real noise down the stretch.

What you guys aren't talking about is PDO regression. The oilers were outplaying opponents at the beginning of the season too and getting incredibly unlucky. Connor McDavid is NOT shooting lights out. He's probably still injured because his shooting is way down from last year. Same thing with the PP. It's way down from last year, likely because Connor is both not shooting like he did and not as mobile. As McDavid gets healthier, this club will hit the stratosphere.

If you looked at all of the information available, it shouldn't be any surprise that the Oilers are winning. Excluding goaltending, they were playing well all season, offensively and defensively. They had an unusually low shooting percentage, and league-worst goaltending. The "eye test" was deceptive, because every defensive breakdown ended up in the back of the net. What it didn't show was that the breakdowns were happening less frequently than on 25-28 other teams. Even with the bad shooting percentage, they were playing .700 hockey if they had average goaltending. The Oilers were just lucky that Knoblauch is as good as Woodcroft.

The Leaf's need to have that mindset of "we lose a few we are out of the playoffs, we win a few we could be looking at home ice advantage." Like the Leaf's just don't have that winning mentality to play hard every game and not lose no matter what, and IDK how we get this team thinking in the way of winning.

Oilers fans are quite accustomed to their team being streaky. Unfortunately, that means we’re always prepared (and half expect) that just as easily as we’ll win 13,14,15 games, we can turn right around and lose 4,5,6 or more in a row. It’s infuriating. It was def like that with Woody at the helm. Hopefully Knoblauch gets rid of that bad habit.
