I’ve bought a couple of these lures based on your videos. Gold, green, orange/black & silver. What colour are you using here? What colours in your opinion are best for muddy waters & clearer waters?

Gday mate. Yeah that colour is my favourite out of the range hey. It’s a Black back, silver sides and red stripes. 👌🏻

Have you guys ever tried chatterbaits in brown water like that? They work fantastic in fresh and salt water here in the US..why not in Oz? Big vibrations to draw them in and shiny blade for up close..they're a weapon.

Mate I used to do some developmental and promotional work for Bassman Spinnerbaits and we did Aussie upgraded version of a Chatterbait that we used for many species called a Mumbler, but my thing was mainly the Murray Cod. While I don’t think I broke the 100 old fashioned pound mark, I think about 95 to 98 lb was the biggest I got on one. We also did a 2ounce head model,that we used for big Fingermark. We made them with stainless shaker plates and s/steel tow points to fish hard on 50lb braid mate. You’re on the money though. They did work for sure. 😁😉

Yeah mate. It was one of my biggest ever. I only ever got two bigger and they were on the Codman Spinnerbaits when we were fine tuning the Codman range made by Bassman. I worked for them for over a decade before I moved to North Queensland and I resigned as there wasn’t enough spinnerbait specific species up here to make it worth their money to sponsor me. I lived in Tamworth 30 years and there were Cod everywhere. My biggest fish came from Berri in SA though. It’s got the biggest population of big Cod I’ve seen. Well, it did have 16 years ago anyway. 👌🏻😉

Hey hodgie why do many folks use baitcasters for barra? Not spin?
@hodgiethebarefootfisherman8393
@hodgiethebarefootfisherman8393 8 месяцев назад
Gday mate. The two main reasons would be the accuracy casting side of things, and second would be the BC reels allow and angler to thumb the spool instantly and more smoothly as a fish rushes for the snags. It also means that you can set the drag a little lighter than you would on a spin rod, then while your fighting you can add a little thumb as you lift and that way if the Barra mucks a lunge or jump, the drag can slip that little bit and not pull the hooks. With a spin it’s just that little bit more difficult to do as accurately. Hope this helps mate. 👌🏻😉
