I believe it doesn’t matter “how good you have to be” I believe as long as you have the drive to do something and never give up anyone can achieve their goals. No pun intended. And I hope whoever is reading this achieves theirs! 🙏❤️✊

your story is similar to mine. I stopped playing competitive soccer around middle school and when I got back I realized I was really behind everyone. I was training with a D1 select club and because I was so bad I got put as ST and LM. Basically, I was a right fielder in baseball. As time passed, I switched teams and was a player who never got subbed off. Even if it was with a lower team. I made Var my Sophomore year and left the previous club to play D2 soccer. Even though I was bench I was still playing with good comp. So I had a dilemna. I was good for select and my local city but not good in select. So I went back to work and when I returned back from my Junior Year I was a starter kinda. Now I got a spot at Texas Weselyan.

I know I don’t have that big of a chance but I’ve been working hard these past 4 months to get back into shape. Hopefully will be good enough again to play in my high school team.

What kind of highlights do coaches want to see from an outside back? I am still learning the position converted from wing forward so my older highlight reels consist mostly of shots and crosses.
@JoshNewlinPerformance
@JoshNewlinPerformance 2 года назад
I would say a mix of good crosses, combination play going forward, 1v1 defending, speed/explosiveness and agility, making good runs (overlap or under lap) Fullbacks/outside backs have to be one of the most versatile players on the pitch

Hi mate, I'm British looking at going to a US College/Uni. I currently play in a team just below academy standard and have done since I was about 6, in goal (age 16). I'm going to be playing U23/semi-pro in England later this season (covid dependant) and was wondering how I'd go about getting into a college, and what I'd need to potentially get a scholarship?
@JoshNewlinPerformance
@JoshNewlinPerformance 3 года назад
Hey Callum, that’s some great playing experience and you could definitely get college coaches interest. Start by making a list of schools, then email them your highlights, gpa, test scores and a little information about yourself as well as why you’re interested in their school. If you have good grades and test scores you should be able to get academic scholarships and if the coaches are impressed by your skills you can be offered athletic scholarships

I played soccer from 3rd-5th grade. I wasn’t able to play 6th grade. I played 7th and 8th grade (making varsity team for my school in several games. I however didn’t make my high school team St.X (Louisville, Kentucky). It was a shock for me. I tried the next year but got cut the last day of tryouts. Junior year I took a trip to visit my native country Ethiopia and so missed tryouts. Senior year I tried out again and made the team. I played 3 games and my team won state. I am a freshman at an NAIA school. I am a freshman right now and am hoping to make the team. I have a natural passion doe the game. Is there a chance for me?
@JoshNewlinPerformance
@JoshNewlinPerformance 2 года назад
There’s definitely a chance! My career has been very far from ideal as well, but I’ve gotten opportunities, it’s just depends on the kind of player you are not necessarily your accolades or resume. So try to walk on to your NAIA team and see what happens man!

I started playing when i was like 6 and played on a competitive club from 9 years old to 12 and was one of the better player but now I'm 17 and about to graduate in like a month and haven't played on a club or high school team since then but I've been training these past few months and feel like I've already gotten a lot of skill back and am a lot better in terms of strength and conditioning. I'd want to at least play juco but idk how to do it if I don't even have any highlights and coaches probably wouldn't even consider me for tryouts since I haven't played on a team since 12 but I'm pretty confident I can compete at that level if I continue training everyday. Is it possible for me to actually play soccer at any level in college despite my situation?
@JoshNewlinPerformance
@JoshNewlinPerformance 3 года назад
It’s possible bro! I would reach out to clubs and semi-pro teams like UPSL and try to get training and playing with them so you continue to improve and get film, then you can send that to college coaches! To do that it’d probably be best to take a gap year, but you can also email coaches rn and tell them your situation and ask for a tryout, it’d just be unlikely to get one. Plus you can always walk on and tryout if you’re already planning on going to a certain school. Sorry man, idk how I just saw this
