bad decisions characters made, MCU plot with random infinity stones inclusion, annoying characters and plotlines that really didn’t matter. The best part was the beginning ambush and the choreography was a good step up. MK has lost all its aura and feel lmao its really a shell

No one asked for an assist fighter version of MK!!!! We did want Tag Mode like MK9 but as its own mode outside of 1v1 and tournaments. And no one asked for the multiverse, gender swaps, and changing characters like how cyrax and sektor are Iron Man suits. I didn't buy MK1 after the announcement with Kameos (assist fighter), and i won't be buying GOTY edition.
i think the game is fun but i agree, i just think they need a non cameo mode and give all characters new moves to work without cameos. it would make the game even more complex and people would like the game more.
Oh and don't even get me started on what a disappointment the Warrior Shrine is. It took them an additional year and an extra price tag of $50 more to implement a glorified ranking system? I've seen indie devs make an entire game in a year's time. What are these triple A game developers smoking?

This series hasn’t been right since MK X. And I’m not even talking about how the game has less features and modes. Mortal kombat 1 feels like shit to play. It’s janky. Most of the characters can’t do anything fun. The gameplay has been restrictive since mk 11. I don’t know how they make such fun to play games (Mk 9, X) and just go in the other direction. Blows my mind.
Quite a presentation here Tom… I can easily grasp all this, comprehend and agree to what was said, however it’s not that easy to change certain things when you’re limited by position. It’s a lot of pressure, we only do what we’re told with deadlines and high expectations from higher-ups.

Superb point about viewers watching enticing fighting content versus poking. The combat scene should be fun and draw viewers to the game, instead of catering exclusively to pro players only which leaves lower viewer ratings at tournaments. Splendid video.

Imagine how good this game were without Kameosytem, but because of the shit nobody asked for, they have to fix their game a million times. Now they got something like a loop with cyrax. So they have to fix again how things should work. They could take 2-3 pro gamers to test new fighters before release and they tell you after one day whats to strong, you can loop with him/her you have to decrease or increase this or that and then release your fighters
The continuing problem with MK (for years) is it does not do the things that fighting game developers do. The lobbies, practice mode match que etc etc. NRS would rather make story mode, animalities,trailers- surface level content. SF and Tekken are still fighters first that have upped their other other content. The gameplay is NOT NRS’s focus and man it really shows.
Even if they make the gameplay of mk1 good, all the damage that's been done to the story and characters is irreversible, and that's half of why i love mortal kombat. sad to see MK in this state.
We wouldn’t be here if NRS had just done legacy. I’ll grab this expansion when it’s on sale for $20. I’m done and moved on/converted to Tekken. No rant, hope those that play enjoy, genuinely glad MK is still alive for you.
They should have stoped at the reseted timeline idea, the infinite timelines with crazy versions of every character is terrible, thats what was wrong with the previous games, turned MK lore into a joke. I loved this new reimagining of the MK story when they first announced it, it had such potential. Also the kameos are so annoying, i rarely use them and i hate that they need to be present in every match. MK is suposted to be a 1x1 fight to the death not a WWE tag team. I wish they made the kameos optional.

The story mode in the expansion is unbelievably bad. The characters still look extremely unappealing. The costume designs are ugly. The characters themselves don't look good because the female characters don't have any curves and the male characters don't have any muscle. Invasions mode is still complete garbage. It's completely stupid how much storage space this game requires. Especially on console. Both Tekken 8 and Street Fighter 6 are still better to play overall than Mortal Kombat 1.

MK1 feels better now with the newest update with Khaos realm, with the new things added, it’s true what MK Tom said, now it feels more like an MK game, so yea it’s going in the right direction, because there’s more freedom, more identity, less poke poke poke, more variaty in gameplay, but our boy Sub-zero still haven’t got anything new, that is another reason Sub-zero is very punishable because it’s known what SZ does, so they just waiting to counter to punish you, with the buff roster and same nerf hardly buff Sub-zero. Now Noob saibot is the better version of Sub-zero Bi-han. Anyhow, I’m having fun playing MK 1 and more now.

It was so bad. Like in the last battle we see titan havik rip his arm off and grow new bodies to fight. Are you honestly telling me when he is defeated by noob he can't do that? Bruh the entrance he threw his head in mileenas thrown room and picked it up with a headless body...we don't even see what happens to him after he is defeated. It's so dumb. They need to reset the timeline again and just make a new original story before armageddon and the reset of timelines. It's so shit now
the game needs to be combo heavy and fast kind of like MKX. I don't know why they keep taking the run mechanic out of MK, running makes the game fast. People love MK because it's full of bullshit characters doing bullshit things lol
The run mechanic turns every character into a rush down character is actually extremely boring and lacks play styles. It also breaks neutral. One button that breaks neutral is not good in any fighting game. It’s just the way it is. So from the game design perspective this is why they do not include it anymore. This is why wave dashing is important. It takes skill so there’s a skill gap and you can move very fast. Look at pro movement and Mortal Kombat nine. It is faster than Mortal Kombat one and Mortal Kombat 11.
@@BattleBrotherCasten I disagree. MKX had rushdown, zoners and setup characters and also characters that controlled the neutral. One character alone had mutiple playstyles. Kano Cutthroat: rushdown Kano Laser Variation: neutral and combos Kano Commander: Grappler That was just one example i‘m not gonna mention every single one. And also the run mechanic was NOT a skip neutral button. It just keeps the game exciting and fast paced.
Mk1 is so overpriced for a unfinished game the dlc story was unbelievable bad the ninja charters should of been in the game in the first place but no we have to another 50 bucks to play as them even if there in the game mk is a joke

Give Sub-Zero a full screen projectile! Give us 1v1 mode! Give us setup gameplay like Cyrax and Sektor Remove throw from the game and make the game less offense heavy Give us more strategic gameplay and less long combo gameplay Long combos have made this game redundant, predictable and boring. It has taken the strategy out of this game. You can't fight from a far because you don't have enough projectiles. You have to get close, and you can't rely on block because they will throw you which is unblockable. Once they start a combo, it is going to be a long combo and their Kameo has a separate meter so it will prolong the combo even more. Half of your health is gone. No strategy, no shit.

One issue i have with noob is the green magic he has. Ik it's a new timeline but how many characters are gona have green flare? Just in this this we got ermac, both cyrax, reptile, Janet c, quan chi, Shang, chameleon and now noob. Greens my favorite colour but it almost feels to much 😅
This is just a lets try to fx mk11 with a new game with a couple of differences. The should have just took a step back to mk9 which was the best one in a long time. While it is fun to play there is a lot wrong with the game.
Well i can tell you that mk11 ruined the original online play. Why because in mkx i beat players that this poke poke has changed we need the old play back
There are 2 problems. First problem is that NRS creating every MK from scratch… second problem is that NRS started pandering to DEI, SBI and WOKE CULT since MKX/MK11

Cyrax story arc was completely unnecessary. DEI girl power all over. Unlike MK1, they allowed some "toxic masculinity" with Lt. Col. Johnathan Cage's dialogue towards Sector. Sadly, they had to have Cage playing the part of a man from the 40's for it to be OK...since it would be TERRIBLE for a man to talk like that nowadays lol. There was lost potential everywhere with the Havik storyline. Stupid love interest between Sector and Bi Han. We paid for a resolution to the story and got "Bi Han needs to chill far away for everyone to be safe." That being said: new battle stages looked great. Doom 2016-esque metal music. darker and grittier than MK1's original feel. Call me old for growing up on the original trilogy...but I agree with the creator of this video. I'm not into the frame counting, poke, all that BS that started up around 2010...gimme back my Ultimate MK3 where Kabal, Sindel and Sub Zero are broken and whoop up on everything. I'll still grind through as Lui Kang or Smoke and enjoy every second of it more than what Warner Bros is doing to this franchise. All that being said: I spent my money, waited a year, played through it and immediately removed it from my PS5 to make more space for other games. Back to Space Marine 2 where the developers understand their audience.
I really loved that we finally got Onaga back and a redeeming story arc to save the franchise. Nevermind, that didn't happen. Who wants some Kamidogu Infinity Stones drowned in a gravy of DEI girl power with Captain America Johnny Cage?
So I hardly ever play I don't learn metas or care about them I love Johnny always have since I started playing mk games him and noob have been my favorites always so i play them no matter what. Johnny was meta for a time never learned how to play him how everyone was cause its not fun. I haven't played since the first titan fight happened and coming back I fell in love with the game again just because it does feel different to fight people. Also sub is fun to play make his ice ball faster and he'll be better
Why would anyone in the right mind pay $50 for this clear cash grab? Literally every WB game the last few years have been unfinished, trash games. I watched the story mode on RU-vid for free and was still disappointed with how much they ruined this franchise.
The community is also a big part of why MK has died. We finally get fun kharacters and the community is already crying for nerfs... screw them, MK fans do nothing but hurt their game.

I bought the game and I didn’t really play it because I didn’t like what it became. Tom is right. MK was beloved because everyone can do b.s. in their own way. Look at MKX. We loved that game because it was beautifully broken. Now I’ll definitely try the game and try the new characters.

Meh and iffy is the nicest way I have seen anyone describe the story. It was one of the worst written story modes ever made. The cutscenes looked great though.
Depending on who you’re watching you won’t see pokes as much as you seem to think there was. Just don’t watch beginners and you wouldn’t see so many pokes

"Freedom of expression"....when you want to enforce this, you have what you have. In order to compete, some rules need to be pre-established and a set of abilities rewarded. If you want freedom and creativity enormously, go write a story, compose some music. Competition without any restrictions is a party, not a competition. That is why MK is never taken seriously competitively: Even a guy that is considered a well know player in the scene, is asking for bullshit.
I understand fighting games my fave genre been playing them my whole life. I thought the expansion was a 7 out of 10. Netherrealm does not care about everyone's lore or gameplay gripes they are innovating on their own terms and cannot and def are not trying to please everyone. what happened to just quitting on not playing a game if it's not offering the content you want.saying they don't know what they're doing is a farce it seems like all everyone wants is a completely broken mk game where everyone is OP and have everything they want. this game is a lot better than it was originally and will be balanced better in time ,which is usually the case for every MK game since 9. they do this evey title it's never going to be the same, and what's wrong with a poke, nobody pokes besides ppl who don't learn the combos

MAN I fucking AGREE with this video with all of my heart. They have no idea what they're doing anymore. They over nerfed raiden, built tanya and lao around a DUMB mechanic and gave them HUSKS of a moveset leaving them with nothing but the dumb mechanic so they HAVE to rely on it. I'm a Smoke main and they have literally ZERO CLUE what this character needs. In the takeda patch they made his ex cancel recover 5 frames faster...this does NOTHING of value for him as ALL of his cancels are at least negative 3 frames to begin with besides one string. So the MOST plus you could possibly ever be is plus 5 off of 212....that's it. That doesn't do SHIT. NOW KEEP IN MIND he has a 28 frame overhead that combos...it can interrupted or upblocked for a full punish...CYRAX has a 28 frame overhead that launches and is safe on block...BUT if you upblock it it's STILL safe, you cant punish on upblock. You could say "well smoke has a low starter" ....SO DOES CYRAX. WHY is it ok for cyrax to have all this bullshit and be safe but smoke has to die for doing his strings?
