I have an ancient 1998 squier tele that was my first, its beaten to hell and I found it in my friends garage after 18 years of neglect, had to scrub it up and solder a new jack onto it but my god it felt good to hear it play again. I recently bought a limited edition mexican tele in silverburst, I love it its a thing of beauty. I might end up getting another squier just because they feel so familiar and bring a smile to my face.

Thanks so much! That’s always the goal haha. That’s one of the reasons I started the channel, to make me play more. It’s definitely doing that! For the confidence I’ve been trying to add more of my personality to the videos. I always wanted to streamline the info but I started feeling like a human bullet list haha. It took me this long to figure out how to present the gear, now I’m working on myself lol.

I bought mine several years ago, when they were selling for $150. I liked it so much, I bought another within a week for $100 bucks, just so I could mod it. With a little set up, they’re cool little guitars to mess around with. Looks like they’re changing the features up a little. The poplar, the belly cut, and the string thru, are all new. Nice additions! I’ve got a 52 re-issue, and the finish on yours looks more like that than the old affinity. With a little fine tuning, the affinity is a decent guitar, well worth the price. I’ve never regretted buying mine. Thanks for the video, and keeping us updated on the changes!

5:29 ... cause I got friends in low places, where the whiskey drowns and the beer chases our blues away! This was a great review, thank you. I just picked up one of these and plan on throwing a set of Tex-Mex pickups that I have in it. Will shield those cavities when I switch out the pickups. This will be used in a country project, rhythm guitar and now I'm pretty confident it will be perfect. A good "low-end" official Fender Tele start at around $700, so this axe with the Tex-Mex pickups should be a perfect budget guitar for the stable.

Great video review my friend. I play acoustic mostly, have only ever owned an electric once some time ago but just couldn't gel with it. I think that was more to do with the style of guitar it was. It wasn't a beginner guitar that's for sure and I found it none too ezy to play. Anyway I've been thinking of getting an electric again and having a second go at it. I've always liked the look and sound of the tele's but have never touched one. For under 400 bucks though I think I'll probably grab one of these If I decide in the end that its not for me its no financial tragedy.

Hi Did you upgrade to a fender?
@paulreynolds1532
@paulreynolds1532 2 месяца назад
@@dimitris70 I did eventually. The Fender is a better made guitar in every way but compared to the Squier it's very... polite. Does that make sense? It lacks the trebly bite of the Squier, especially played clean. They do say that every one in a hundred Telecasters has some magic inside. Maybe that works with the cheaper end too. All I know is I got lucky that day. Funny thing is the guy in the shop put it right in front of the window, and when I asked to look at it he said he'd put it there because he didn't think anyone would want it. And I didn't ask him why! The shop's long gone but the old Squier lives on. What about you, are you a Tele person?

@paulreynolds1532
@paulreynolds1532 2 месяца назад
@@dimitris70 The faded SG is a beautiful instrument, well done for getting one of those! I see your friend's point in that Mexican Fenders have the legendary F logo on the headstock, and certainly will have more resale value should you choose to upgrade. The thing about the Squiers is that they are so very cheap, and so very close to the sound, look and feel of a Fender, that they're a no brainer in terms of an entry into the single coil sound. My advice would be to go to your local guitar store, take your time, and try everything in your price range. You might find the best thing in the world FOR YOU! And don't get too hung up on the name on the headstock. For the last six months my favourite guitar for studio work has been an Aria Strat copy that I got for free from my best friend. It just does the job! Whatever you choose I wish you all the best in your playing. Music is a wonderful gift to have and I wouldn't exchange it for anything in the world!
@paulreynolds1532
@paulreynolds1532 2 месяца назад
@@dimitris70 Sorry Dimitris, I thought I'd replied to you yesterday, must have clicked the wrong button. I see your friend's point with the Mexican Fenders. They're always going to have more prestige than a Squier, because of the name on the headstock. I think the best thing to do would be to go to your local guitar store, take your time, and try everything on your price range. Hopefully you'll find something perfect for you, whatever brand it is. By the way, I'd love a faded SG. I have a Les Paul, but it's so heavy, I sometimes wish I'd gone for an SG instead.

@@onemoreguitarchannel Thank you for your reply! Excuse me for not mentioning it, but I'm a beginner and my focus is on "clean". I will primarily play pop (70%), 80's disco (20%), and a little bit of indie rock (10%). Which one of these two would you recommend for this purpose?
@onemoreguitarchannel
@onemoreguitarchannel 2 года назад
@@wesleydevries7415 For that kind of stuff you may want the strat. Positions 2 and 4 are great for pop and disco, and give you some extra options for indie. I like the middle pickup for indie too. This tele is almost extra twangy because of the ceramic pickups. It’s snappy but I think you’ll like the strat more based on the music you play.

I bought the olympic white one recently and must say it’s a handsome guitar. Certainly needed some initial fret work and setting up, but it offered a chance to practice. I even sanded the neck edge to my liking; something I doubt I’d ever do on a more expensive guitar. Then again, I probably wouldn’t need to. Overall, I’m quite pleased. But yeah….the tuners. It doesn’t hold tune very well.
@onemoreguitarchannel
@onemoreguitarchannel 2 года назад
Sweet! Yeah sometimes it’s nice to have a guitar you’re not worried about modifying. The tuners could definitely be better, I think they have a low ratio. I haven’t had any slipping issues with these, but they have more play than I like when tuning.
