@@roguegen5536 Until kyogre remembers that it could run ice beam as stated in the parasect video at 7:20 (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iAzZVOQCYF0.html) and then Parasect gets rightfully left in the dust once more, especially once it was discovered that there other better, actually good pokemon like Ludicolo that can reliably check kyogre.

@@boundary2580 Counters -- doesn't check. It doesn't "check" P-Groudon either. It has no business on switching into any of their moves (except maybe Don's Eruption) and is easily punished.

Still really don't get why it wasn't a Psychic Type in the first place. Even though the typing now isn't great nowadays just the extra STAB would be useful. It even learns Psychic type moves for crying out loud.

@@Romeder I would agree, but in gen 1 the types seemed to be decided more based on how they worked with the designs and cultural inspirations rather than game balance (especially since the creators weren't planning on it having a big competitive presence at the time). I mean look at how many generation 1 Pokémon have the dual typing of grass/poison, normal/flying, and rock/ground.

@edmg7 Bruh its called PSYduck! It definitely shouldve been a Water+Psychic over a friggen starfish. Gamefreak has always been stupid with its typing. Exeggutor gets a dragon typing but Gyrados doesn't? 3 Fire + Fighting starters in a row? Grappoloct not having a secondary water typing? Fairies resisting bug and fighting for no damn reason? Ice being weak to everything? But the worst by far is Solgaleo being a steel not a fire type... Its a freakin SUN god thats weak to fire... Makes no sense.

@@edmg7 not sure abput Golduck, but the Pokedex enteries about psyduck are mentioning hidden psychic abilities after having a headache. And Pokedex entries - as ridiculous they are - are giving lots of hints about the typings of pokemon

Lockstin has a video where he goes into at least speculation on this topic, and it centers around their psychic powers being unintended and uncontrolled, hence a lack of "mastery" and therefore a lack of the typing.

@@h0m3st4r Not really. Almost any P-groudon is +attack or special attack instead of +speed. He doesn't outspeed anything relevant with a +speed nature, and being faster than P-Kyogre isn't always good.

I remember using golduck in doubles to take down primal groudon and deal a decent chunk to mega ray while lowering its speed with icy wind. It was rly overlooked

i ran a doubles type team in gen-6 that lead with golduck and tentacruel, with mega sableye, steelix, espeon and froslass. the main idea was that golduck would use simple beam on tentacruel, which would then use Acupressure to boost it's stats by four stages, which was crucial because my other pokemon could then copy those boosts with psych up in order to take full advantage of all those possibilities (hence why both physical and special attackers/walls had to be there) whichever boosts tentacruel got out before either it or golduck kicked the bucket, would determine which pokemon goes out next.

My one competitive moment of glory at a VGC regionals came at delivering Tommy Cooleen’s 4th loss at round 8 of the North American regionals. He clobbered me in the first match, but exposed nothing of my team. I returned the favor in match 2 (he wasted Hydro Vortex on my protecting Muk), Twinkle Tackling Buzzwole away. Round 3 was a Tailwind war between his Pelipper and my Mandibuzz. In the last turn, it was a wounded Pelipper with 1 round of Tailwind against my wounded Koko and a 1HP confused Kartana (It dashed through a Hurricane). He did the only play he could which as Brine Tapu Koko and pray Kartana killed itself in confusion. Kartana snapped out of Confusion and gave me a win with 1 HP. That is one of my favorite moments of competition.

Golduck is one of my favorite cloud nine users. I used it alot in Battle Spot doubles to stop Tyranitar, Pelipper, and Mega Charizard Y in Ultra Sun. Can't wait to see this weather stopping duck in the Sword and Shield Expansion!

Golduck will always be my favorite water type i used him in every game he's in as my water type and he was never a let down. Most notably play thews were gen 1, gen 2, gen 4 and most recently gen 5 and again he never let me down. Competitive battling always on my rain teams and being a special attacking wall breaker

When I played Black 2 I chose a Golduck instead of a Lucario because I wanted a water pokemon to use surf. This Golduck was a useful member of the team and I find it strange that people forget about this pokemon even I try a cool design and decent stats

Just found out your channel, it's very cool man. I know it's a bit late, but I would like to specify that my Golduck had cloud nine in order to have a really strong match up against double duck and Lilli-Koal. It was great even against other things like Alolan Ninetails, which couldn't set aurora veil.

Golduck was clutch in my BW2 startless nuzlocke. Was my most consistent mon and never came close to fainting since I caught it as a Psyduck in Floccessy Farm.

Good vid as always, though I hope we get back on track with the Unova starters. I really want to see Emboar in the spotlight. It’s my favorite of the Unova starts. I used to use a Choice Scarf + Reckless Emboar in online battles. Got me out of some tough spots several times. Outran and OKO’d a MegaQuaza once with a Reckless boosted Head Smash. One of my favorite victory memories. Contrary Serperior was great too. Never cared much for Samurott though.

Lol I remember using scarf modest golduck in anything goes to outspeed and one hit primal groudon with surf, one hit mega ray with ice beam, encore (scarf encore I know) to mess with calm mind kyogre and baton pass, and psychic to ko marshadow. It needed to be full hp to survive rayquaza's life orb extreme speed though

I've actually used Golduck in ubers in gen 6/7. Cloud nine makes it a fantastic counter to the dangerous threat of Primal Groudon.

As much as I hate gen 9, it gave Golduck a few new fantastic toys. It got nasty plot alongside vacuum wave. It can put things to sleep, then set up nasty plot and click hydro pump, fixing the low accuracy of hydro pump and hypnosis with zoom lens. And faster frail targets can be cleaned by vacuum wave. If only it has *slightly* higher special attack though, it would go a long way.

Basically, a PU like Golduck can completely counter one of the most dangerous Ubers to exist, Primal Groudon. Because of Cloud Nine.

And as the case with many popular teams. It's earn its own nickname, double ducks or just ducks. But here's the thing, Peilcian isn't a freaking duck. It's a Peilcian. It's in its name, its own thing is fitting things in its giant bill. So I dunno whoever came up with ducks and it's definitely catchy but you should come visit California and see what an actual Peilcian is. I'm wheezing. Who wrote that?😂😆😂😂

Ya forgot one niche, tho. In singles more so, Gen 6 and 7 cloud nine absolutely eviscerated Primal Groudon or Mega Ray, provided you run the scarf for guaranteed out speeds but also you could run life orb max speed nature as most Primal Groudon don’t run max speed.

Except Regular Rayquaza destroys Pdon the same way and Golduck is more likely not to outspeed Mega Ray unless it's scarfed and Ray isn't

I loved Golduck in every generation for its large movepool versatility. In single player modes, I had a lot of fun raising one with its egg moves such as Cross Chop, but in multiplayer even I gotta admit it falls behind others that can fill similar roles.

I love how it's named the Dux combo when Pelliper isn't a duck and it's named after the Farfetch'd you trade for in gen 1 but Farfetch'd isn't in it. And then Porygon2 is also used there and it's vaguely duck shaped but also not a duck

Escavalier is not the best but is good, great stats aside from speed, but is a monster in trick room, amazing typing. The movepool is decent, if he was able to learn gyro ball the world will explode, but the worst part aboit him is the crappy abillities he has, if he only have no guard atleas. Not a top tier, but a overall realy good.

Back during gen 7 competitive OU, golduck was one of my main stays with pelipper, he had choice specs and swift swim and his role was to spam hydro pump, he could melt anything, like, end teams right then and there, even ferrothorn took like 40-60% damage depending on the set ferro ran, its crazy, oneshot kartana, oneshot greninja and a lot of squishy mainstays of OU even through resistances and couldnt be outsped in the rain at all.
