The shortest of them all, standing at five foot three - is Tyrone Bogues, commonly known as Muggsy. Here’s his life story, and how he defied all the odds and snuck his way in the game of giants.

Was his height a limiting factor? Yeah, maybe. But he was trouble at 5'3". We might imagine what kind of player he'd have been at 6'3", or 6'8", but look at what he was able to do at 5'3". His height may have made him unable to do certain things, but he made himself able to do things taller players also couldn't do. He turned a negative into a positive. And let's face it--this dude must have been tough as hell, or there's no way such a little guy could make it in that league.

I was actually at the game where Alonzo Mourning hit the game winner against the Celtics. Most people would look at NBA teams being full of giants and question if they can really play basketball while barely being 6 foot. However, Muggsy remains an inspiration to everyone that your hight is only arbitary, and that your heart and passion to get great at the game will more than make up for.

Jordan didn’t loose his talent in space jam but he did help the loony toons win the game against the monstars

I remember one time my friend (Asian, 6’3) and I (5’4) were playing basketball and these 2 kids came by and wanted to play, let’s just say after they got beat on they ended up calling me muggsy and my buddy, Yao 😂

It'll be a true injustice if he's not put into the NBA HoF. He may have not had the stats, other than being #23 on the all-time assists list, but he was a leader on the court and an outstanding point guard. Listen to what the other players in the league at the same time had to say about him.

I was always a short dude compared to other guys on the court growing up so guys like muggsy bogues, spud Webb and Isaiah Thomas were always super cool to me

Not really...I mean it’s not like he inspired other 5’3 players who went on to make. It’s a cool story but that’s it

I've always been a huge fan of muggsy bogues during my teen years. I love the fact that for someone that is shorter than the vast majority of the player is actually a very good strategic ploy in the realms of basketball (players like Muggsy Bogues, Jeff Stockton, Spud Webb etc etc)

Next to Magic Johnson, Bogues was the most "pure" point guard I've ever seen. He never seemed to have any body fat, just all muscle. I 'm an ACC fan, and ACC guards were afraid to even dribble if he was around. His man-to-man, pressing, full-court defense intimidated the entire opposing team! I saw it close up!!
