Steve Nash was one of the greatest point guards of all-time, but over the years there's been some polarizing opinions about him. In this video, I go over those opinions and try to evaluate how good he actually was.
I make all kinds of NBA videos which include trivia, analysis, player stories, countdowns, conspiracies, and mysteries. Make sure to leave a like and subscribe if you enjoyed this video!

Nash was disrespected because people didn't feel like he deserved the 2006 MVP. Who disrespected Rose after he won MVP? Only LeBron fanboys. I'm pretty sure the disrespect only applies to the season which they won MVP, not their whole career.

I'm a massive Spurs fan but even I can admit Nash and the Suns got screwed in 07 when he was basically getting assaulted by the Spurs. Diaw and Stoudemire get suspended for leaving the bench, even though Duncan and someone else (Either Parker or Bowen) also left the Spurs bench and saw no suspension. The whole series was officiated badly and even Donaghy admitted it was rigged against the Suns. If the series goes fairly, the Suns go on to beat the Jazz in the WCF and the Cavs in the finals, Nash gets his ring and a probable Finals MVP.

"Diaw and Stoudemire get suspended for leaving the bench" Pop played chess instead of basketball having Horry take down Nash to make them angry and it worked. Bad sportsmanship on Pop's part that time I'd say -- and I love Pop. (Donaghy's nuts, so who knows when he's lying.)

Steve Nash is the most disrespected NBA legend of all-time, how could you say he didn't deserve to win those MVP trophies with him leading the league in assists, shooting 50-40-90 from the field, and spearheading his team to 60+ wins in an ultra-competitive Western Conference? Product of the system? Do you really think the system would have worked without him managing the point in the first place? You guys Just SMH, give credit where credit is due, guys.

That's the bane of every Pure Point Guard that's currently playing in the league of Score First PG's right now. Kids will just look at how much points they put up without realizing how each PG controls the tempo of the game differently. CP3 and Nash are by far the best I've seen to ever do it. Nowadays they're all just chunking shots and not even looking to create shots for their teammates. It's sad.

larry bird could be argued as a top 5 shooter and top 5 passer. His passes were all about instinctual plays. Not holding on to it, but catch, see offense, and react. No moments of heistaitons. That's EXTREMELY difficult. Not many players can avarage 6 assist per game without being ball dominant.

People who say "nah" to Bird being amongst the greatest passers of All Time, are uneducated on Bird and what great passing is. Bird - in my opinion - is right there in the Magic, Stockton, Nash, and Kidd mix. I'm not sure Bird wasn't the greatest ever as a passer; and by great passer, passes well from point A to point B and creates a ton of ball movement and flow on teams he played for. Nash is certainly going to be more and more underappreciated as time goes on.

lol Larry Bird is EASILY a top 5 passer of all time, I've never seen another player successfully complete many of the passes he pulled off in his career highlight reel. The fakes were just unreal too. Wilt Chamberlain also is a ridiculously underrated passer these days, he could accurately throw passes from one basket to the other with ease. It's absolutely ridiculous how you can't do it in NBA2K18, you watch Wilt Chamberlains Scouting Reel and it's clear he could do it any time he wanted with total accuracy.

Something that kills me about stupid people and TEAM SPORTS, is they always want to talk DOWN about an individual player for not winning a championship, but it takes a TEAM to win championships. They might be integral parts, but let's use this for an example. If I pass the ball 30 times a game to people in scoring positions, but they only make 10 shots, the low assist rate is NOT my fault as a facilitator. So, stop saying players are lesser than others just based on championships. Whether it's Nash here, or Dan Marino in the NFL. Smh.... Not talking about this video, just random thought about those that prompt people to make videos like this to prove them wrong. Great video.

The only reason why people talk about what a jump Nash made from Dallas to Phoenix is because they swallow Mark Cuban's BS. Nash was a solid all star playing for Dallas. At least before 2004 when he was hurt and his Usage Rate fell. ALL the advanced stats have Nash at NEAR his best in 2003 when he was 28. The only real difference between that and his MVP years of 2005 and 2006 was the improvement that the Suns made on acquiring him. (Something they didn't show with Kidd on the roster.) It was only then that people began to RECOGNIZE how good he was.

In Nash's first MVP season he had a 50/40/90 season whilst leading the Suns to the best record in the NBA and the Conference Finals. In his second MVP season Stoudemire played only 3 games all season and the Suns lost Joe Johnson so Nash only had Shawn Marion as the secondary star on the team yet he again led the Suns to one of the best records in the league and they reached the Conference Finals again without Amar'e. I get that Kobe had to deal with a trash team during both seasons but Nash definitely deserved both MVP's more

Nash's basketball IQ was simply off the charts. No other point guard I've ever seen could make such crazy unorthodox passes on a routine basis while also shooting so efficiently. (Never saw Stockton play but I doubt his assist game was as flashy as Nash's). He made basketball fun to watch in an era of boring plodding offence and grinding defence. It's too bad his career didn't start like 10 years later because he'd fit right in with today's more free-flowing offensive style.

Nash was such a beast in his prime, in my opinion BETTER than Harden/Cp3/Westbrook and every other PG right now(except Stephen Curry). Nash just controlled every aspect of the offense and could make the craziest passes not to mention he could drop 30+ without breaking a sweat. He wouldn't go stat chasing and wouldn't make a pass because he wanted an assist, he made a pass because it was the right play to make and I can't even accurately describe how great his passes were. He would do no look behind the back bounce passes cross court like it was nothing, you would always think he was going to turn it over, but somehow he makes a crazy pass with pin point accuracy for a layup or dunk. His IQ and his 3 pointer were DEADLY and with Boris/Bell/Amare the suns were viscous, if only Dantoni taught some deffense they would have a couple Rings. This is coming from a defensive-minded fan, he would absolutely destroy every team in the NBA and make a series vs today’s Warriors interesting.

Vak SpitsFax the only issue with this statement is prime cp3 is a *far* more complete player than curry ( faster, stronger, better at all 3 areas of defense, and vastly better when it comes to midrange shooting and pass accuracy.), harden is nearly as effective as curry, and hes more physical, not as good a outside shot but far better midrange, and nash is honestly just a better curry. Not as good at moving 3s but has more stamina, is a true leader, and a far more accurate passer, whether its trick passes or regular. I enjoy watching curry too but too often hes propped up, in my opinion the other guards are more valuable, although westbrook is too reckless.

@Agelastic_LuCi 6 лет назад
Curry is the only player you'd have to defend 5 steps away from the 3 point line. Compared to CP3, Curry is better in scoring threes, penetrations, and finishing plays off the ball. Curry also doesn't need to hold the ball a lot to make an impact, which makes him more versatile to different play styles. As a matter of fact, his mere presence along the arc significantly helps his team's offense. CP3 on the other hand allows defenders some safe distance due to his relatively slow shooting release. Harden doesn't have CP3's shortcoming in off ball offense. When he plays well, he's virtually better than Curry in everything except range. Curry is only better at stability - he doesn't coast on defense as much as Harden does and he has lesser tendency to force his offense.

Oscar Robertson, Curry and CP3 aren't better than Nash. Curry's career isn't over yet, and CP3 may be close statwise, but his resume is nowhere near Nash's. Kidd and Isiah are debatable. 2x MVP, 7x All-NBA selections (3 All-NBA First teams), 8x All Star, 5x NBA Assists Leader, 4x 50-40-90 Club (Most in NBA history). He helped the Suns reach one of the largest single-season turnarounds in NBA history, going from 29 wins to 62 and a Conference Finals appearance, certainly worthy of an MVP award. Tell me, were the suns "thriving" in D'Antoni's system before Nash came? Because correct me if I'm wrong, but D'Antoni was coach of the Suns for 1 season before Nash came, and they sure must've been thriving because they won 29 games that season... Next season, Nash comes to Phoenix and they snag the best record in the NBA with 62 wins. He managed to turn scrubs into solid roleplayers. Leandro Barbosa? Trash, but with Nash he put up 13ppg. Boris Diaw? Trash, but Nash helped him have one of the best seasons of his career, putting up 13+ ppg. Raja Bell? Trash, But with Nash, he averaged a career high 15ppg. He made Kurt Thomas, the backup for Amare Stoudemire look like a starting-quality big. The year that Amare (who many consider to be the best player on the team at the time) was out, Nash still lead them to a 54-win season. The only player who could've possibly won it that year was Kobe, but his team was the 7th seed in the West, and until Westbrook won MVP last year, an MVP never came from a team lower than 3rd in their conference. Nash is also one of the most efficient shooters of all time. He holds the record for highest career FT%, and holds the record for most 50-40-90 seasons in NBA History. His court vision and efficient scoring makes him one of the most offensively-gifted players the game has ever seen. The only argument that can be made against Nash is his bad defense, although you can't fully fault him because he wasn't very athletically gifted, and at least he tried on defense, there's some value in that. Magic Stockton Nash

Kobe had great individual stats that year but the lakers weren’t very good and he took it upon himself to shoot a ton and mostly just ignore his teammates. I don’t understand why that’s more MVP worthy than a guy who single handedly enabled a system that broke NBA defenses for 8 straight years.
