Fun Fact The Steelers, Ravens, and Bucs who all had objectively better defenses than the Pats in the early 2000s All drafted QBs in 2000. 2 of them had Hall of Fame HCs and All 3 of them had Hall of Fame Offensive Players in their primes at either OL, RB, or TE with still a far better WR core than the Patriots ever had in their first 6 years with Brady. The only one of them that didn’t have a Hall of Fame HC was the Ravens who literally had the best scoring Defense of the last 40 years, Shannon Sharpe, 2 other 1k yard receivers who were actual deep threats and a back field with Jamal Lewis and Priest Holmes in their primes. But if Brady goes to any of those other teams he probably wouldn’t have played as long as he did anyway. Because he’d definitely be even more dominant than he already was earlier in his career. So many people don’t know that Brady was actually the one responsible for turning the NFL into the passing era it is today. Before 2007 Teams lined up Shot gun for less than 20% of their plays. And since the 2007 Pats became the first team in NFL history to use shot gun for 50%+ of the plays the league wide shot gun usage has risen all the way up to 68% More than 3X the usage. For reference how drastic of a change that is. 3 point shooting hasn’t even Doubled since Steph Curry entered the NBA in 2009. Brady was the one who made it possible for slot receivers to become productive and valuable players to Offenses. Because the only way for Slots (who are usually only the WR2 or WR3 at best) to even get on the field to produce in the first place is for them to line up in a passing formation like the shot gun that uses them. And they weren’t just using shot gun a lot all of a sudden just because they got good receivers. The Patriots were a top 5 team in Shot Gun usage when they had Bledsoe. They were top 10 in Shot Gun usage with Brady his first 2 years and fell to 14th the next 2 years in 03-04 when they were able to sure up their Defense and Running Game. But those quickly started to age and fall apart and they were getting worse and worse at holding leads and running the ball effectively requiring the Pats to rise all the way back up to Top 3 in Shot Gun usage from 05-06 and were using it for as much as a 3rd of their plays. This was the time where Brady was needing to lead the League in Passing Yards and GWDs with the worst receiving core in the league. The only reason the Patriots were able to make it work in 07 was because they finally got him great WRs. More importantly a Great Deep Threat WR. That opened everything up. And it was the reason why they were able to stay in shot gun so much. Because unlike the previous other most prolific Passing Offenses of all time that came before them like the Early 80s Chargers, Mid 80s Dolphins, Late 80s 49ers, Early 90s Bills, Mid 90s Packers and 49ers, and Late 90s and Early 00s Vikings and Rams who ALL had TWO great deep threat WRs on the outside. The Patriots only had 1 Great deep threat WR. Who wasn’t even in his Prime at age 30+ And had a worse running game than all of them too except for the Dolphins. By supplementing their running game by using their 2nd Great Receiver in the underneath game instead of the deep passing game they were able to make up for both deficiencies simultaneously!! It was this combination that cracked the code of Football! Being the ones to finally achieve a true and complete balance of a 2:1 ratio between passing and running which had for the most part been closer to 1:1 for the majority of NFL history and creeping up ever since the 80s. But the real reason this was never able to be achieved before. Even with the West coast Offenses that practically pioneered the underneath passing game. Was because they all relied too heavily on their running games threat to take the pressure off their QBs. And it’s because the Pats were able to successfully counteract pressure mainly thru their passing game which is what made it much more sustainable to use. Even with Passing at its all time high and teams dropping back to pass more than they ever had we are still seeing teams across the league allowing even fewer pressures and sacks than even the 80s, 90s, and early 00s. And Coincidentally enough 2007 was also when Brady started getting All Pro seasons out of his Lineman. Thanks to taking the fewest sacks of his career and being near the bottom in 07. After being the 7th most sacked QB in his first 6 years prior. With his LEFT Tackle LEFT Guard and even his Center All making their first All Pro teams of their career even tho none of them had even made a Pro Bowl in 10 combined full seasons played with Brady before then. 2 of which would never make another All pro team ever again And it’s no coincidence that it was his Left side aka his BLIND SIDE that looked so good because the Patriots were always dropping back to pass so much but finally able to successfully get rid of the ball to good weapons that whenever teams tried to pressure them it was always out before it could reach. Even if they were able to have perfectly timed blitzes or get home with just rushing 4. The ball was pretty much always gone anyway because Brady is the best Pocket Passer in NFL history. With the Ability to Read Defenses as good as anyone other than probably Peyton Manning. An underrated release as fast as anyone other than probably Dan Marino. And Pocket Presence as great as anyone other than maybe Drew Brees. And even when Pressure got to him he had Toughness that could rival Brett Farve. And if it was in a close game had Clutchness that surpassed even Joe Montana and John Elway. THAT is what actually made Brady the GOAT. It has everything to do with the number 7. But nothing to do with the amount of Rings he won. Because Brady proved he was the GOAT in his 7th year starting when he finally got his first Hall of Fame Offensive teammate and put up the single greatest season of all time. Then 7 years later had the Greatest Postseason of all time with his 2nd Hall of Fame Offensive Teammate. And then 7 years after that was still playing at the highest level of his career with his 3rd Hall of Fame Offensive Teamate. 90% of Hall of Fame QBs start off their careers with at least 1 Hall of Fame Offensive Teammate within their first 3 years. And more than Half of them have played with more Hall of Fame Offensive teammates in the careers even tho none of them have even played as long as Brady. And if you’ve been following so far I’m sure you can probably put two and two together and maybe have some kinda idea exactly how the Pats managed to lose that Super Bowl 42 that year. Because the offense’s sustainability in dropping back so much relied heavily on Brady’s wizardry in the pocket via his ability to see and feel pressure coming and get the ball out quickly. But as I’m sure none of you remember because Brady never uses it as an excuse. Probably because he never uses any excuses and always downplays and hides his injuries as much as possible. But the fact remains that the biggest reason 2007 Pats didn’t go undefeated is because the centerpiece making it all work was actually hurt. He injured his ankle in the AFC championship a couple weeks prior where he threw 3ints. It happened on the 5th play of the beginning of the 2nd half where Brady took his first of the game that resulted in a pile up of players on top of him. He would go on to throw an Interception that bounced off his receivers hands the next play. And then throw another interception in the redzone on the next drive. But luckily for the Pats they were going to win that game anyway because not only was the chargers own QB also playing thru injury but so was their All Pro RB which their entire offense was centered around that season. So if your every wonder a reason why the giants were able to get so much pressure that forced the Pats offense to only put up 14 points then that is in all likelihood the biggest culprit.

The bottom line with Brady is that he found ways to win games, especially in post season. In SB36 and SB38 he drove the team in final minutes of the game to get them in FG range. SB51 speaks for itself.

When Brady left the Patriots, it is clear as day who was the true leader to all that winning with both the Patriots and the Buccaneers. High IQ QB, made moves with the front office and took pay cuts for better players, got more athletic as he aged. It's crazy how he posted career highs and had a few comparably better stats in his 40s than he did in his 20s and 30s. If you split his 20s, 30s and 40s into individual careers, they would all be hall of fame worthy. Brady is unreal.

So those stats are crazy but at some point someone will throw more TD,s and throw for more yards. They play what 2 more games a year now i wouldn't be surprised if in 20 years they play 4 more games so 20 total. They have also continuously made defenses worse in terms of what a D can do to stack the deck for QB'S to throw and the running game has been decimated. What will truly make brady stand out is stuff like this. 22 seasons played in the playoffs 19 of those years. 17 times won his division. 14 conference championship games played in won 10 of them. 10 superbowls played in and won 7. That is unprecedented winning man. Add to that where it is known and not argued that before they went and got Moss he was still top of the league in passing with no weapons to throw to at all really. Then got weapons and was the most profilic passer ever. Dude did all the winning then got all the stats while winning then did all the winning again late in his career. It is an insane career the only one that comes anywhere close in terms of dominance is Tiger Woods or Michael Jordan as they both owned the sport when they played the difference NONE of them own the records like Brady does and NONE of them have the winning percentage that Brady does. Just being devils advocate here. Tom Brady was the first qb considered to be untouchable by the nfl. Prior to him, qbs were considered red meat by defenses and could be tackled like a regular player. That pressure completely changes the game. You can tell when you see so many records being broken by qbs. I feel like players like joe Montana and John elway could’ve been as good with these rules.

Barring injury and assuming no decline in competitiveness, Mahomes has a real shot at total # of SBs. If PH plays until he is 40 (which doesn't seem like to big of a stretch when you look at TB, Rodgers, Peyton, Brees, etc.), that's 12 seasons to win 4 SBs. The other counting stats would require some crazy longevity and a willingness to risk future health/happiness to continue playing well into his 40s.

In that Seattle Super Bowl he was the only QB to throw 4 TD passes against Seattle's defense in over 4 years. Manning and his 55 regular season TD's were held to just 8 points the year before in the SB against Seattle.

What amazes me most, is that he did all this while basically being one of the least athletically gifted players of all time. He was slow (5.24 40), awkward, even scrawny. He didn't possess a cannon, his deep ball was more of an afterthought than a threat, and he was hardly capable of stretching plays with creativity or scrambling. His release was quick but his follow through was almost comically long. The one thing he did, better than anyone, ever, was never overplay himself. He knew better than to play hero ball and as a result he just won, all the time. Who cares if 300 yards came off of a ton of short completions? A successful play is all that mattered to him, and I'm saying this as someone who can't stand Tom Brady. I can't imagine any QB in the NFL ever again playing like he did.
