Toni Kukoc is the overlooked star of Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls. In this video we take a look at just how good Toni Kukoc really was, and what he meant for that Chicago Bulls team.

Toni Kukoč, aka The Waiter, aka The Croatian Sensation - is one of the first and one of the best Europeans to ever play in the NBA. He was a key piece to the second threepeat of Jordan's Bulls in the 90's, and he unjustifiably got snubbed from more screen time in the Last Dance documentary. But how good was Toni Kukoc really, and how much he helped Jordan in the second threepeat - find out in the rest of the video.

Kukoc has a career NBA scoring average of 11.6 points per game. His last four years in the league he averaged 7.6 points per game. His last two years with the Bulls after Jordan left and Kukoc had a chance to lead the team, the team won 13 games the first year and 17 games the next year and the Bulls needless to say, failed to make the playoffs for the first time in years. There is absolutely nothing in Kukoc's NBA resume that would legitimately warrant an NBA Hall of Fame nomination.

Toni KUKOC unknown records: Highest 3PT % improvement in NBA history -Kukoc improved from 26.2% in 1999-00 to 44.6% in 2000-01. Most Game winning shots in a season (1993-1994) -KUKOC lead the league with game winning shots all in his ROOKIE year. This was the year Toni made the legendary buzzer beater against NY Knicks. In my opinion his game winning shots rank amongst the best of all time, A) Scoring in clutch moments B) Degree of difficulty was insane. Top 10 in league for W/S Winshares in 2 separate years! Only player to ever 3 PEAT with Club and NBA Team - 3 x club champion - 3x NBA champion Toni will be the only player in history to ever accomplish this. None the less there is no reason toni shouldn’t be in the Naismith Basketball HOF. I shouldn’t even need to plead his case as his resume is amongst the most impressive in the history of the sport.Ontop of Toni being not only the first stretch 4 in the game but being one of the first people to pave the way for international basketball (Add he was on the most popular sports franchise team EVER) he is the pioneer of European basketball. I think it’s enough to say that if MJ and Pippen have advocated for Toni to be inducted .. it’s just long overdue, the disrespect is real.

The Bulls weren't that deep. As proven especially in 97 and 98. Some of the weakest teams on offense to win a title. Pippen was injured on and off. Rodman could defend and rebound but had no offense and clearly wasn't the same after 96. Kukoc was pretty good and well balanced in skills offensively but was not a good defender. Kerr was nothing more than a 3pt guy. Harper could defend but mediocre on offense . Just replaceable roleplayers after that

Kukoc wasn't just overrated, he was highly overrated. What did he do when Jordan left the bulls for two years then retired. NOTHING. What did he do in Milwaukee, NOTHING. What did he do in Atlanta? Once again, NOTHING. Kukoc was in Philly for two years and averaged 10.2 points per game. That ain't even hall of fame numbers in grade school basketball. If one is to analyze the NBA, one would be remiss to ignore the racial aspect, this is the USA where race is very, very important. The NBA is a predominately African-American product that is being marketed to a white American audience. That audience has historically had a problem with accepting anything that is overwhelmingly Black unless it is somehow ameliorated. That is just a fact about the USA. This is why the NBA went to Europe. One would be hard pressed to name 10 American born white NBA players who are of all star quality. This was true of the 1990s, 2000s, and today. So, lets go to Eastern Europe to find the much needed white players, and hey, if they're good, we will promote them as being grrrreat. You can find dozens of former African-American NBA players with stats similar to Kukoc's who aren't considered Hall of Fame caliber players. Kukoc is just one of too many examples of white privilege.

From the croatian interviews I saw with Kukoc, I would charaterise him as a real Dalmatian man. He is too humble for his own NBA career i think. And all that compared with such masters of the game, as Vlade Divac, Dino Radja, Dejan Bodiroga, Arvydas Sabonis, Drazen Petrovic, Sarunas Marculionis...etc. Kukoc was a perfect all-rounder, he was a seven-foot guy who could shoot for three and play as a point guard! He could dribble, he could assist, he was also a prolific scorer and an ultimate clutch performer among all European players. He should be in the Hall of Fame and he should be much, much more recognized from the American basketball fans.

I always liked Toni and he did make a solid contribution to the Bulls second 3-peat. I love how the European Leagues develops players with all the fundamentals of the game but in the 90's, it was still quite physical in the NBA and as this vid points out, this made for a difficult transition from the Euro Leagues. Toni adapted better than many others.

In 2020,Toni Kukoč would be a top 5 pick. Something like Luka Dončić and he would get his own team to run. Not to say that he would have the same succes in the NBA as Luka, but he would be a multiple time all-star and a franchize player. No question in my mind about that. He could shoot, pass, drible, had post moves, was a team player, lots of size, solid atlethic ability, great work ethic etc..he had it all. Is sad how many european legends were never able to show what are they capable of in the NBA. Arvydas Sabonis,if he came into the NBA while still young he would be among Walton,Kareem,Shaq,Wilt,Russell etc. He would be considered one of the all-time great centers. Also Drazen Petrović was not given a fair oportunity at the start of his career, and when he finally started going with the Nets he was taken from us way to soon. No question he would be another great NBA player if he got a chance earlier and continued playing. Not to mention guys who never went to the NBA guys like Diamantidis,Papaloukas,Vujčić,Dejan Bodiroga,Miloš Teodosić,Vasilis Spanoulis,Juan Carlos Navarro,Anthony Parker etc...in their prime all these european legends would be all-star in the NBA.

Kukoc SHOULD be on the HOF already... Radja and Divac are already in...this is the same if lets say draymond green and klay thompson are inducted prior to kevin durant..Kukoc was far superior player to Radja and Divac much the same way Durant is superior to Draymond and Klay..

Completely agree, he sacrificed his game to ultimately be a role player for MJ. Toni did not play his natural position once Duringnhis tenure in the nba. Toni is an incredible Facilitator and Ball handler, that was his game. If Toni had his own team during his prime you would of easily seen 22PPG/7AST/7RBD splits.

If he doesn't get elected to the Naismith HOF, the selection committee would have problems. When Dino Radja (who had shorter career in NBA) is in, Toni is well-deserved, with his European and Chicago Bulls accomplishments, being part of the Big Four in the second three peat, All-Rookie Second Team and winning 6th Man of the Year.
