"There's always gonna be time to do X". That's my biggest regret and the pandemic is teaching me such an important lesson. Being a very driven individual, I've always postponed things I wanted to do. There's always gonna be time, right? And here we are in 2020, when we no longer can go places or visit people. Hopefully, when it's all over, and we can go back to the world we know and miss, we will no longer procrastinate and simply enjoy life.

If you have the chance to create your own script for your life, don´t follow someone else´s life script. And we aaaaaaaaaaall have this chance! I also realized I am a sprinter, so I am already cutting off all the destruction to work less and kind of compacted! Loved this interview!

As a “night” person I appreciate what you mentioned about that. I always work late - sometimes even until 4am writing or recording music - but I get shamed for not being up early. I think it’s honestly comparable to how left handed people feel in a right handed world.

Thank you for affirming people who are early-risers and night-owls! I have always felt guilty about not being a morning person and it is so great to hear that successful people are both early-risers and night-owls. The key is making their preference work for them, productivity, and their careers. Thank you!

This was such an enlightening conversation to listen to! I think my biggest takeaway is that it is okay to be both a sprinter and a baby stepper at the same time. I don't do well with the "Go big or go home" approach to change. For me, that is just too much change at one time and I fail every single time that I try. But I did lose 40 lbs in 8 weeks after I bought a gym membership and worked out for 3 minutes on the first day. I added one or two minutes per day and the next thing I knew is I was doing 45 minutes on the elliptical and the weight was falling off. At the same time, I've always thought there was something wrong with me because I could never complete an assignment or meet a deadline until the 11th hour. It seems that I am a sprinter for anything academic and always have been, I just did not have a label for it. Ever since high school, when my instructors would teach us how to write a paper...I did okay with the research phase of reading and making note cards. etc.... But I just could not seem to "write" the paper until the 11th hour. Don't think I didn't try...but it would just turn out to be an exercise in frustration and self-doubt. But the night before it was due, "magic" would happen and it seemed like the words would just fall out of my mind onto the paper and I would "power it out". With a 4.0 I figured I had to be doing something right....I've always joked that I have a split personality and now I realize that it is okay, Thank you!!!

My big takeaway....it’s ok to be a sprinter! I’ve always felt the open-ness of the Marathon diffused my creativity...which made me feel like a failure! But when I sprint I’m a genius! Thank you so much for this interview! I’d love to connect with some sprinters!!!!

Gretchen is the reason I became obsessed with habits 😆🙈 thank so much for sharing this interview! No matter what is going on in the world we are still in control of our actions and what we do in our lives.

Wow...I am so thankful for you ladies sharing. Last night it came to me to do something great to help others, I put some thoughts on paper@12am then 2day @5am i crashed into this video. Our wise creator has a sence of humor. For 25 of my 50+years I was in a beautiful journey of marriage - then came the results of my husband's deployment to Afghanistan. My world flipped over, my family literally crumbled day by day and as much I tried I couldn't put anyone or anything back together. I'm thankful he returned from war physically ,its the aftermath - the mistress of PTSD that we war against now, even as ex husband/wife. I fight daily to be a whole person, mom, daughter friend etc ...everything is truely figureoutable. Interview well done- much 💕my sisters

Think of a memory where you were extremely happy and thriving and then as you focus on it your mind will think you are back in that experience!

Thanks for posting this. It IS nice to not hear about the virus. Waving to you from just north of Palm Springs. I'm from LA originally, used to live in Los Feliz and Hollywood growing up. Been working at becoming a writer for last 20 years, last 5 years more passionately, and been frustrated with my turtle-like progress, so this was great!

So good! Gretchen is so passionate about any subject she grabs onto! Her way of processing is so different from mine that it's been such a great learning experience. She thinks so quickly, I always take notes. It's so great to hear you both talking about changing the order of a sentence ... I do this so often and felt like a loggerhead! I burned all of my childhood journals and tossed all of my school yearbooks. I do regret not keeping my journals but not the yearbooks. I always enjoy Grech's questions and truly enjoy her podcast with her sister, Liz - it's one of the few I listen to on a regular basis and have since they began. Bravo Marie!

I love this! Thanks so much for this interview. For the longest time I'd been thinking I'm never going to reach my dreams 'coz I can't wake up at 5 in the morning--and from what I'd been hearing constantly that's one of the keys to success. And it's so refreshing and such a huge relief to learn that there are people out there like me who are most productive later in the day. Coffee doesn't really do anything for me in the morning but come night time my mind goes super active and creative without any caffeine! And I totally resonated with when you guys talked about being a marathoner or a sprinter--and I'm totally a sprinter. I feel that it may not always be the best way to get things done but it's such a relief to hear you guys talk about that and know that there's nothing wrong with me, and that there's hope yet for me. 😊 Thank you both so much, and thank you Marie for doing all these wonderful interviews with such wonderful and amazing people. You are truly appreciated. 😍💕

Ive noticed that I am much more a sprinter with some projects and much more a marathon runner with others and it sometimes seems to change itself around varying on whatever project I am currently working on. My particular hurdle is finding ways not to lose total interest once the project is done. Maybe I could apply this process to my end game?! Thank you!
