@@DJL3G3ND But if Gordon _is_ sent back and he _does_ stop the resonance cascade, then the cascade never happens, which removes the later need to send Gordon back to stop it. Because of that, Gordon _won't_ be sent back, which means he _doesn't_ arrive to stop the resonance cascade, which means that the cascade _does_ happen. So on and so forth. Now do you get what he's saying?

So this is why there is no Half-Life 3... Perhaps, Mark Laidlaw's idea about an explosion, sending Gordon back to the events of this game is cannon? Perhaps Black Mesa is just a continuation of that story-arc where Gordon is indeed sent back to pre-disaster Black Mesa? I mean, some events turn out different in this game, so.
