dragonite guess a 8.5 got 9, gengaur 8.5 and was right, raichu guess 9.5 got 9...it definitely woulda gotten a 10 under an older PSA cert, modern PSA hates vintage so probably an 8 with them Lol, it was definitely a strong 9 though. the delta i guessed 8.5 got 9 but tbh it was on the lower end imo, like barely cutting it as a 9....but MANNNNN those delta cards are tough to grade in general, they ding super easily, the centering and edges were never great in manafacturing, and a lot of them get print/scan lines on them, I have several pack fresh ones I have that I'm debating on grading but depending on how they do (some have the print/scan lines) they'd go PC or be sold, but I don't want to take that gamble rn and would rather save the money...maybe AGS or TAG for them.

I know this vid was awhile ago but I found this editing style really disruptive. it was hard to watch, don't know if it's just me. watching you fiddle around with the slabbed cards to not show the grade right away made me feel impatient. perhaps showing off the cards in their raw state is better done before opening the graded card package?

My evaluation on each before it being revealed. Bottom heavy is always preferred and pleasing than it to be top heavy. Dragonite: 9 Gengar: 8 Raichu 8.5 D Delta: 8.5 You got a awesome score card browsky. Def invest in original ex cards before it's to late. Bing Boom Brrapp 🥁

Thanks. Yeah, this is the type of content I always wish other RU-vidrs would make before I started grading. I always wanted to be able to see the “before” to get a better idea of what a card that’s a “9” actually looks like vs. an “8.5”, etc. I hope these videos give people that insight. I’ll do more like this 👍🏽

@@LegendofLuke hey brother, do you know anything about legendary collection Pokémon 2002 Beckett grading. I looked up 10 grades for that set and it’s literally zero for every card. At first I thought there’s no way, but when I searched eBay and other sources, I can’t find a single 10 grade from Beckett.

It’s like that a lot of the time, but the threshold can be different depending on the card. When a card in Near Mint condition is ungraded, there’s still a lot of ambiguity as to HOW minty that card really is - it could be a 10, but then again, it also could be an 8. With that ambiguity, you arrive at a price that reflects that potential range of condition. Grading takes the guesswork out of it - for a 10, you now KNOW it’s the best-of-the-best and people are willing to pay more than it was raw - even though, in essence, the card hasn’t changed. An 8.5 (like in this case) is still considered mint, BUT now we know it’s NOT the best-of-the-best and that simple fact can reduce the perceived value of it even lower than if it had just been left ungraded.

In my experience, most modern cards that get graded aren’t going to increase in value unless the card gets a 10 (or 9.5 and above in the case of Beckett and CGC). 9s might gain a little value or simply retain the same value as the raw card (which means you still lost money because you paid grading fees). If you get an 8 on a modern card, you’ve almost certainly lost value. Vintage cards, because they’re harder to find in good condition, have a bit wider range. Most 9s will still add value to the card, but 8s and 7s are closer to “break-even.” Now, that being said, being a vintage 1st Edition, I would have thought an 8.5 on the Gengar might have still increased the value some. But BGS slabs also don’t go up on eBay as often as PSA, so the value I listed is probably based on only 1 sold listing in the last 3 months. It’s definitely hard to come up with an accurate market value with so little sales data. But se la vi.

Ok. I decided to look into this further. $122 was the price listed in the Collectr app. I found out this is based on one auction from Nov. 22 where an 8.5 sold for $122.50… But there actually was another BGS 8.5 sold on Oct. 9 for $264.00. With that, you could take the average of the two, which would bring the value to $193.25. But again, it is still hard to get a solid market value based on just 2 listings in the last 3 months.
