I know I've teased this high-mileage GT-R before, and I'm so glad to finally get this video out for you guys! Huge props to the owner. He has owned it since new and this is his daily driver. #goals
Very well done! Would love to see a follow up video where the GTR is put on a Dyno to see how the power has held up over time and many miles. I know there's probably not a baseline of that exact car when new, but it'd still be fun to compare against those Dynos from over a decade ago. I'm considering a secondhand GTR so I would definitely tune in!
Royalty Exotics in Vegas has a Huracan that has over 100k miles, I think Huston said its twin turbo. You need to go take that thing for a spin ASAP, it runs strong and looks great. Love the GT-R content.
When i worked at lexus a couple years back i had a gentleman who had put 97,000 miles in two years on his 2015 lexus RCF. I was amazed lol easily the highest mileage one in the country. His response was a classic “ why would i buy a beautiful car like this and not use it and enjoy it?”
@@6ft7guy Its 100% true. He used it as his Daily. The man Owned Quiet a Few fast food franchises Through out the United states and Used it weekly cross country to Do business and Check on them. Trust Me I wouldnt have believed it either. The man just loved driving
Thank you so much for keeping it real man. What a lot of first time buyers fail to recognize is that the Nissan GT-R costs supercar money for a reason. A lower-end supercar price tag with supercar performance has supercar repair/maintenance costs. $20,000 transmission swaps. 500+ horsepower. This isn’t your 300 hp Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, Subaru Impreza WRX STi, or Honda Civic Type R with economy car roots and repair bills. You want the ability to hunt down or keep up with BMW M5’s, Merc AMG’s, and Porsche 911’s on the track/highway? Then you gotta pay the troll toll.
Have you ever owned an evo? Because they are not cheap at all lol. So dont know what you're talking about when u say an evo has economy car roots. Yes it's cheaper to replace a trans than a gtr but you cant say an evo is cheap at all... also I've seen many evos keep up at the track with much more expensive cars. I mean theres a video of an evo 9 keeping up and even beating a lambo at the track with millions of views.
@@jesusangeles152 the evo is an awd turbo lancer...which is an economy car. Just like the STi is a turbo impreza. The GTR is not an upgraded economy car like the Evo and STi. That being said I would never buy a GTR and I actually own an Evo 2. But yes a built Evo is more than capable of hunting more expensive sports cars and supercars. Search English Racing, they build some of the fastest Evo's in the country.
@@JetCityHooligan I know who english racing is. I myself own a fully built evo x. But yeah now i know what was meant by economy based lol. I totally forgot the Lancers were even a thing lol.
does the owner have sandpaper for fingers? 140k miles or not, when you don't give a shit at all about the condition of your car, this interior is the result.
I got in a 2009 for the first time a couple weeks ago and was shocked at the sad condition of the interior in that one as well. I think people are probably rough on them, but the early years have a noticably cheaper feeling interior than my 13. Many of the switches and trim pieces are different. I think they improved it yet again in 17.
I’ve had 2 GTRs and the material around the touch controls is extremely delicate, & itll come off with a rub of a finger (feels like a very thin layer of play dough is the best way I could describe it 😂)
@@campkira He's knocking Nissan as a whole, obviously the GTR uses a DCT but Nissan overall has shitty transmissions plagued with issues in majority of their lineup
I had a 370z with 220k miles on it and when i sold it it was still as good as the day i bought it. Im sure the gtr has the same parts like alternator, water pump, and etc as the 370z. It's a nissan reliability. As long as you dont mod the hell out of it didnt drive like a mad man and change the oil on time it should run forever.
Yes it’s pretty awful. I have a Volvo S60 that has 115k on the clock. It’s less than this car and Volvo might have better interior quality but it’s no where near the wear this car has
Right like imagine being an official dealer for the manufacturer with all the diagrams and the specialty tools and theyre just like "yeahhhh we're not gonna troubleshoot just throw a new one in" That a joke tbh haha
@@TinoushGTR do all the fluids and send a sample of the engine oil off to a lab for analysis they can really tell you if the engine has been taken care of. That extra work is definitely worth it for this kind of car.
Dude, I’m looking to get one, and I’m contemplating if I should still buy a 2009 model. Seeing that this one is over 10 years old and with high mileage, but with well maintenance, it still a badass. And some of the 2009 models I’m looking at nearly have 50k miles on them. Your video certainly answered my question. Thanks for doing this video!!!!
I have a 2014 GTR Track Edition with FBO, E85, and some other mods, just hit 82k miles. Get them maintained, enjoy them, and know the maintenance is super car maintenance. They're killer vehicles.
Early gen models had an aggressive rear differential which also made owners complain about the noise that being said it’s by far one of the best handling gtr for track day use
@@thaitanium35 that’s seriously impressive, I love the 2009-2012 GTR models I hope one day I would be able to afford one and tune it to around 550 or so HP
What does it means Nissan coming through? I have Porsche that has tons of paint chipping from rocks, broken switches and torn carpet ... Well I guess Porsche quality showing through 😅🤣😂.
i have a 62k mile 2002 gt2 with some pretty gnarly paint chips and rock chips but nothing more than that. what kind of porsche do you have? never heard of carpet issues lol
I just came by your channel and I'm subscribing! Thank you for not being annoying, yelling at me and being unrealistic. This was such a good "to the point" video. Thank You!
I believe easy 140K miles and perfect run of course because is a GTR if was European sports cars forget their are piece garbage. Search a BMW's Audi's porches with 40K miles and you will find those but not on the roads but in the junk parking lot
This Nissan is what Nissan use to be before Renault: sporty and reliable. Thankfully Nissan kept Renault hands far far away when designing this. That transmission sensor is an issue though.
I own a 1993 Nissan Patrol, probably don’t get them in the states. Has over 300k miles on the clock. Original engine (TD42 diesel), never opened. Original paint, no rust or fade. Original trim, apart from the drivers seat (original) starting to get uncomfortable in the foam department, it all still works with no creaks or anything. Car still takes me everywhere I want to go. Don’t underestimate Nissan.
No offense meant here, but I think you're totally off base claiming that the Nissan shines through because of its age. Maybe compared to a Toyota or Honda, but not compared to supercar brands like Ferrari, Lamborghini or McLaren. Have you seen the kind of nonsense that happens on those after just 40k miles? I can gaurentee they would look much worse at 140k miles with the same level of maintenance done
@@BinisGunsAndGames gtr isn't a super it's a sports however with some minor upgrades waste gate major one trans upgraded/updated turbos or system and boosy controll and a get a tuner to go over it few times not just a basic tune ask them for what you really want lol and boom got a super car lol lowkey my plan save for a few years only need 2 I think but might do 3 years so I can do everything at once and basicky make it like new build it to for all that good shit but I'd have a eco tune and a street and a track/race or like to but I'm a newbie so il end up spending alot including since there engines are so complex
"It sounds like a vacuum cleaner." Lol I completely agree, the worst part of a GTR. They are so muter stock. I'm definitely glad I got an exhaust on mine recently. Great video! Good points, like bringing up the rwd bias (I can attest to that). Super interesting to hear about a very high mileage GTR
Shep’s transmission are rated by tq not hp. Stage 1 is usually good for 700 tq to the wheels, not hp. I have also been told they are conservatively rated.
Your not the only one. I am pretty close behind you with a 2013 at 130+ and it’s my daily driver. I also have the dent chips in the same area. I am in the Army and have driven it from Georgia, Missouri, Tennessee, to Texas.
I'm hoping to pick up a 2012 next month with only 6k miles on it. This is a good video to let me know i've got plenty of mileage to get out of iit if everything goes right. I'm prayin hard for sure.
140,000 miles on a Japanese car isn’t bad if it was taken care of. My Gtr has 83,000 and run like it’s close to new , my 07 civic si has 196,000 miles and still pulls strong as hell! It all comes down to how you take care of your car.
Those interior panels shouldn’t be too hard to replace. If it’s been on since new it’s time to remove that paint protection film. Buff the whole car, ceramic coat it, then put more film on the whole front end maybe the whole car.
let's talk about that this GT-R go 140k+ miles. For a car with that performance, this is awesome. More expensive cars like McLaren, Ferrari, Lamborghini, cant go 100k even if they could that will cost a lot of money.
It’s funny how you keep referencing “Nissan” on a lot of these defects, in the paint and trims. Pretty hard to determine its “Nissan’s” (inferior?) product. How was the car looked after? Driven in snow, rain, over gravel? Was it washed regularly? polished? Serviced properly? What do they do for a job? A mechanic getting in his daily driver with corrosive materials on their hands would cause early wear. Smoker? Eat a lot of greasy fast food? So many variables. I also dont know too many daily driven Supercars. I think it looks pretty good to be honest. No car is bulletproof. It’s also a third of the price of a Lamborghini with similar performance. A lot of speculation. I have a Nissan, nearly 8 years old, pretty high km’s, daily driver and I don’t have any of this wear and tear.
I think it looks like he doesn't take much care of it. I have a 09 G37s Coupe that looks 10 times better than this GTR inside and out...granted its only got 66k on it but still.
It comes down to the driver caring. My STI has 40k miles on it at least 75% highway miles, and it looks like it drove off the showroom floor minus a few rock chips I've filled.
$6-7,000 for the transmission issue? That really makes this care more affordable for what it is. Normally the number 1 thing oh your transmission fucks up there is no choice but to replace it with a $20,000 one.
Nothing against your friend, but I feel like it's not so much "Nissan things" but how well people take care of it. It doesn't matter if it's a 300k Lambo, if you don't take care of the paint, it will get messed up after 140k miles and things will fade.
How much do transmission swaps cost at a competent independent shop? I’m assuming the $20,000 cost at the dealership is a pretty inflated number, as expected from them.
campkira yeah I wouldn’t expect it to be cheap, but with how ubiquitous tuning is for the GT-R I would be really surprised to hear that there aren’t reputable shops, with expertise, that can handle the swap for less than $20,000
Pube83 yeah I guess I just had it in my head that a swap to a new one would have more longevity. Thinking about it now, you’re probably better off replacing broken parts and upgrading weak points though.
jayjayb0115 Yes, check out Shepherd Trans. If you're a youngin and never heard of John shepherd, he was THE man when it came to building wicked DSM's (Talon/Eclipse...pre Evo in the USA). He was running 9's on a street able eagle Talon back in the late 90s. He was racing when stefan papadikis was running his civics. Johns car competed in sport compact cars Ultimate Street Car Challenge back in the day.
I drove a 180k mile Lamborghini Huracan in Vagas. Being a rental with such high miles it was great. I didn’t even know the miles on it until I went to fill up gas and got curious about mpg 😂
Seeing what I saw, I come to the conclusion that the owner did not took care of the car… because there’s many other exemplars of the same year with 80k-100k miles that looks like it just came out of the lot
I had a 2009 R35 in UK sold it with 159k Miles on the clock still going strong sold it for £24.5k :-( Litchfield imports knew of a higher miler than mine in the UK :-0
Because he's showing what Nissan did to cut costs on building this car. They're selling it in supercar money territory because of GT-R hype but they put all their cheap ass econobox plastics, trim, and user controls into it. You can tell the few pieces they did make specific for the GT-R - they have lasted 10 years but everything else has worn away. I've never seen a 10 year old car that worn out in the interior unless someone's been purposely abusive on their shit.
@@1MotoXRacer1 If that is what it takes to make a car with a 3.8 V6 TT be only 80,000 or even less than that pre owned, then thats the way the cookie crumbles. I personally own a 370Z and it does not matter what sports car you pick from nissan all the interiors fall apart, I have a 2014 Touring Z, and it needs a new steering wheel because of how worn the old one is, it also needed new floor mats, and the trunk lifts gave out...... This is all at 62,000 miles, This has all happened before even 100k.... Ive since taken care of all these things and detail the car, clean it, and of course it has lots of engine mods... Its never left me stranded ever, and its never blown tons of check engine lights, but the interiors on all nissans are infamously shitty, not JUST the GTR
TylerTwoToms my brothers 13 Z has been great to us. He’s almost at 90k and the first 2.5 years the car lived outside in the sun and snow... everything paint,interior,wheels... seem fine. At the end of the day I’d rather have small issues like that than catastrophic failures
There’s a hundred times more M3s produced than GTRs and the people owning such vehicles spend a ton more on maintenance on what’s now a 10-20k car than a 50-60k super sports car
my 535i is at 145k, got it when it was at 80k, coil packs and fuel pump is the only problem i had. it’s tuned with upgraded turbos and pushing 530 ish hp and haven’t had any major problems, i got lucky
It doesn’t matter if it’s a compact car or a supercar. 140k miles will have the same outcome on both, paint chips interior wear etc is normal can’t nitpick something that’s out of your control
Six to seven thousand for a sensor . But the dealer said we don’t test we just replace...... $20000 is that legal 🤷♂️. Not a real question but that’s really sketchy
i think a clunky transmission is cool but is it really something to complain about? and did he seriously say the comfort mode barely does anything, my experience was different.
Haven't watched it yet, but based on my 2005 350z that got 285,000 miles before a bad ac fan caused it to over heat and crack a piston, I'd say it probably had been pretty reliable
Question: How fragile are these transmissions? I am looking at a low mileage 2009 and was curious since Nissan told him it was 20k for the trans. I would have to take it to 3rd party as that pricing is NUTS!
I feel as if the GTR being a "supercar" is kinda odd the r31-34 where upgraded versions of their sedan counterparts but I suppose the 35 was a development on its own this time around but it's funny how we don't expect these cars to last to 140k without major problems... I could understand with cars like the LFA or something but a GTR.. should be reliable.
Can someone please explain why in the U.S. do they have 'Stop' signs in the middle of nowhere? I remember in Utah driving with my aunt, and it was flat and you could see nothing for miles. Yet in the middle of nowhere there was this 'Stop' sign, and my aunt would always dutifully stop. Flat road, see for miles, nothing around, no houses or anything, just flat fields, middle of nowhere ... Stop sign.
I think wolverine owns this gtr and operates it with claws out hence so many scratches lol I have cars over 250K miles and are mint inside. Owners make a huge difference to the overall condition of the car.
It will be running fine at 1,000,000 miles. If humans are not wiped out in the near future, which is highly plausible, the car will be on display in a Godzilla GTR museum.
