Bingo. Its not even a "real" stimulant . Its a wakefulness promoting agent. Stimulants directly affect dopamine epinephrine etc like amphetamines cocaine etc
@@liambeaton8318weed is good for certain people, and this is coming from somebody who hasnt smoked im over 2 years. Im still pro weed, but people overuse it
Personally I noticed a huge positive effect on my body composition when I switched from coffee to green tea and then from green tea to a mushroom coffee alternative that has practically no caffeine in it all all. I sleep better, recover better, have better workout because I’m less scatter brained, and there are no afternoon crashes. I think clearer and have significant less anxiety. I might just be someone who can’t tolerate caffeine but if I knew how better my life without it would be I’d have given up the drug a long time ago. If you can tolerate it without issues, enjoy. Sadly I couldn’t.
@@humblebee7979 kinda like an adult version of hot chocolate. It has chia tea, various mushrooms, cacao, turmeric, and other spices. It has somewhat of an earthy taste and It doesn’t taste anything like coffee IMO but it fulfills that morning ritual of drinking something hot.
I’d say my sweet spot is a shot of espresso, about 2 bangs and couple mountain dews… and maybe some pre workout if I go to the gym 😂👏… but nothing over that.
Love this …. Have been experiencing the paradoxical effect of caffeine. And it can make my mind more scrambled so it’s harder to focus on my workout and my body. So thank you for this valuable convo.
Both my parents drank coffee non-stop throughout the day and were as thin as sticks. Just my limited observation from my particular family's genetics...others may be different.
My personal experience, I would do intermittent fasting (18/6) and would drink 8-10 cups of black coffee while fasting. Saw little results. Same fasting window (18/6), no coffee, maybe iced green tea (no sweetener just tea) with a tbs of himalayan salt and now I’m feeling better and weight is actually dropping and body is performing better as well! Just thought I’d share, maybe someone can also benefit! Still have a cup or two on the weekends if I need a boost but now I do espressos.
All great points - also too much caffeine can ruin your sleep quality, which definitely won't have any positive effects on your fat loss efforts. So probably not a great idea.
For anyone with heightened levels of anxiety, caffeine can induce a nightmarish affect. Double that with having a habit to stress eat, and it's a mess. For anyone in that situation, it would be best to avoid caffeine entirely and stick with healthy carbs for energy.
The withdrawals are real, when I went through a field school for a week by night 2/day 3 I felt like I was dying. Cold sweats/hot flashes, inability to focus, zero appetite. It was horrible lol.
Have you found it much harder to exercise when cutting back on caffeine? Has you noticed that during withdrawal your resting heart rate can drop below normal and your endurance is greatly reduced? Normally my resting heart rate is 60 but I have seen it drop below 50 often and even 40 when cutting down on caffeine, and feel profound fatigue.
WHY COFFE CAN MAKE YOU TIRED. In laymens terms. So caffeine decreases your blood vessels diameter, so theoretically your blood flows faster. (Think like if you kink a hose and the water sprays out) The problem is, most people don’t drink enough water so if you’re dehydrated your blood runs thicker and slower. so think if you were to kink a hose with oil in it rather than water... That flow is a lot slower. Both motions mimicking either the caffeine boost (hydrated) or the post coffee nap (dehydrated) How to prevent: *Drink a glass of water before your cup of coffee
This is so true. I used to drink black coffee on an empty stomach and my brain would literally feel like it wasn't getting oxygenated. When I started drinking 100oz of water at work instead of like 24oz, I felt soooo much better. Even better is to always make sure you eat when you drink coffee. Anything that increases metabolism needs to be immediately accompanied by sufficient food, or you'll just stress your body out.
Drinks a CUP--or TWO. THAT. IS.. IT. I have no withdrawal, tremors, mood swings, unusual cravings, urges, or reliance. That 's my 42-year experience with it. Pretty simple.
People drink black coffee on an empty stomach and their cortisol shoots through the roof and then crashes hard. I took Ray Peat's advice to only take caffeine with food and it's a huge difference. 2-3 cups with food per day is wildly different than on an empty stomach.
Bruh you guys are crazy. I drink about three coffees a week and it’s enough to mess up my sleep sometimes. But I quit completely for about half a decade so I’m super sensitive to it now.

@@dieglhix it's more that I sometimes don't work out and coffee is able to give me a little more anxiety which makes me focus more easily. Of course, I don't overall like anxiety/cortisol

Black coffee helps symptoms of my depression. I try to drink two 16 oz. Cups of black coffee per morning prior to cardio. Revs me up big time.. Along other factors in my weight loss program I've lost weight over the past week.
caffeine within coffee or sugary drinks will not burn off the calories included by sugars, fats, carbs... black coffee, unsweetened tea, low sugar alternatives or sugar free, will in turn help you feel satiated during ingestion as well as caffeine can help you stay active throughout the day, understanding that is key to weight loss/ weight management with caffeine.
Anything in excess is bad. If you're needing more than one coffee or 150mg of caffeine a day you need to take a look at your lifestyle and sleep. Also if you only have one coffee or tea a day it is easy to quit, as soon as you start having more and more it's much harder to quit. If I find myself really needing a second coffee I write the day off and get to bed early. Will power should be practiced often and just like training, you should push the limits of your will power.
Calculate it, if you’re consistent then it’s obvious how important it is I think there is a direct correlation with longevity as well. You’ll live to 500 if you balance it with cannabis fasting vitamins and avoiding or limiting certain foods
Heres a tip if ur sensitive to caffeine but still want to burn body fat, use only a few spoon fulls of coffee ground to essentially make watered down coffee
Caffeine has been shown to help the body burn more calories, with approximately 1 calorie burnt per 1 mg of caffeine consumed. Therefore, drinking 100mg of caffeine can help you burn an extra 100 calories per day.
I consume 1000mg caffeine on average and disagree. Never crave junk food again (because I'm too full from neurochemical perspective), burn energy doing nothing (good for weight control), reduced appetite, feel super energised, can focus better, reduction in pain (mental, physical). I also went 2-3 days without caffeine and I didn't feel any withdrawal symptoms. Actually, I enjoyed it because I don't like the taste of the espresso shots that I usually consume. However, I must say that espresso drinks taste really bad (Like chinese traditional medicine). My rationale for continuing my unorthodox caffeine habit is because espresso shots taste exactly like eastern medicine and eastern medicine has stood the test of time.
Remember the half life rule for Coffee, every 5 hours caffeine in your system gets cut down in half. So once you drink a cup of coffee you wait 2-3 days before drinking another one. The effects of caffeine gradually increases over time if you drinking it everyday.
Caffeine and theanine in 1 to 2 ratio with 14 mg CBD synergistically alleviated my ADHD with very few side effects on an empty stomach. There will be a huge market for the combining of these compounds for maximum mental and brain health. Also takes my keto diet to the next level in conjunction with aerobic exercise to balance blood sugar and burn brown fat.
Coffee headaches from withdrawal aren’t nice but if like me you’ve quit opioids like heroin many times the caffeine withdrawals are a walk in the park. Cannabis cold Turkey ? lol bless your little cotton socks.
The only thing as Adam mentioned for Redbull is it has 200 mg of caffeine per can and like 26 g of sugar. For energy drinks, the only one that doesn’t affect my sleep is the Guru energy drink. Only healthy one I found out there: 3g of sugar with organic and natural ingredients... plus none of that taurine crap
I like the body armor+caffeine and the sparkling Ice + caffeine, they go pretty light on the caffeine which is fine by me since a 100 mg alone will get me going
As far as the cost of caffeine, everyone would like drop their jaw and look at me when I said I would sometimes takes caffeine pills, oh the horror! Dude, it’s 200mg of caffeine, the same as your large coffee, and maybe not the coffee is even higher…and it cost me five cents a pill, compared to 3 dollars a cup.
@@jicalzad I’m using an extreme example, yes. Dunkin’ Donuts or 7-11. Obviously home is cheaper, but the pills are still the most cost effective, and it doesn’t make you pee as much. I like a cup and a pill usually, best of both worlds
I am taking 2 gram synthetic caffeine as pre-workout I'm addicted When I went to gym without caffeine I feeling like nicotine withdrawal 😭😭😭 But with caffeine every day is beast mode the negative effect is I have to take sleeping pill 😬
@@knightrider1545 pretty sure he is saying 2000mg. I'm often on that or more per day. It's not good... Coffee varies a lot in strength but 2g is like 20 cups
I like both things, have you tasted arabic espresso? It's very bitter, though. I seldomly drink coffe, just for the sake of the mystic of sitting down with someone in a coffee shop... Pills are great for starting a day or going to the gym
@@hanskazan7403 i had to add it back in (very small amount) recently due to digestive slow down. But once i heal my gut/SIBO, i want to cut it out for good.
Wrong. Black coffee on an empty stomach raises cortisol too high and causes the crash after eating because carbs will drop your cortisol. Even eating junk with coffee makes me feel way better than coffee on an empty stomach.
I can confirm caffeine on the long run has more downsides than benefits. It might help you lose weight, only if you use it intermittently, or if you use it for the first time. Otherwise, if you're a regular coffee drinker, coffee will make you fatter and more tired. It gives you crazy hunger, even if not right away. And you'll have a short burst of energy, after which some hours of tiredness. What I also notice is that coffee alo hinders muscle mass growth; when you're working out on coffee it seems like the adrenaline is doing the lifting, not your muscles. It's like the body says, I don't need to grow the muscles, I'll just use this energy rush to do the job.
Yes THANK YOU! Coffee makes you fatter and more tired, in the end. Appetite is stimulated by caffeine eventually - causing massive hunger cravings . I just quit 7 days ago
