The biggest takeaway for me was on how far technologies have come. I remember being a kid and running in converse and never using a watch. How far we have come.

I really like this knowledge nugget, that the tool we are using to interpret the data doesn’t know what we are doing. Very important to keep that in mind when leading up to race day. 51:47

HRV4Training is a fantastic tool. I have benefitted from using it in conjunction with my Oura data. I like that it provides a range of HRV. For instance, as "higher is better" isn't always true depending on the context.

Dear Marco, dear Floris, Very informative talk about HRV. Made me curious enough to Invest 10€ in the app😊. Over doing, Testing my limits til overtraining hast allways been an issue for me. So lets See If this routine lets me better navigate my Level of excercise. Its anyway a better value Proposition than a 500€ smart watch! All the best

Speaking of upcoming technologies, I'm currently wearing a continuous ketone monitor, and I believe continuous lactate monitors are next in the pipeline. Thank you for this awesome interview!

YES! Continuous lactate monitor is in development and testing already, that would be awesome, to see live Lactate levels on your GPS watch :)

@@FlorisGierman I worry about the companies making the continuous lactate monitors. the last two businesses to do this went under. I can't even buy their old product on eBay now. I have programmed my treadmill to automatically adjust the speed based on my heartrate to keep me at a constant HR that I choose. I would be fun to do the same with a lactate monitor to workout at a constant ~2.0 lactate and see what my HR actually is. So, i'm hopeful these product does come out.

I was very pleased and reassured that HRV and RHR on the day of - or day before a major event is not actually indicative of performance for that event but likely related to the stress and build up of excitement. Like Flo, I actually stopped looking at this data leading up to an event. Looking back a day or so after can be horrifying! 😅
