This is unironically a good thought provoking topic, not just for 40K but for the meaning behind it all from realizing the lies you’ve been told about your enemy to seeing something you once thought a hero being killed right in front of you, actually pretty heavy if you dwell on it

The tau in the Damocles Gulf have a shakey yet legit alliance with the imperium proper in the ciaphas cain books. Mainly to fight the tyranids/genestealer cults. Also both the tau and kroot can speak gothic. The audiobook narrator gives the tau chinese accents lol

Well in this Galaxy Ultramar and Tau Empire is the best places than human can really prosper and thrive. Ultramar and his 500 worlds are de facto a utopian dream of every imperial and the most luckiest are those who live there. Tau Empire offers to humans basically the same and funny enough their water cast propaganda is really not a black delusional propaganda but rarely white one which is very VERY rare thing.

Sooner or later Guilliman will end up forming an alliance with the tau. A certain primarch resurrecting Mechanicus magos may have ALREADY formed said alliance.

They would have sooner or later. The tau have no chance against the empirr of men. The empire of man have basicly unlimited recources of guard men alone. Even in technology and quantity the empire of men have the advantage. Why would you waste recources to kill a small animal of you have a big treathment like tyranid in front.

Not yet. They still far from Tyranids clutches just yet. Leviathan is concentrating in Pacificus which if succeed can lead to direct Tyranid invasion to Segmentum Solar. Tau Empire is in Ultima Segmentum veery far from battlefield and probably their asses will be covered by Ultramarines and their Ultra Empire

Do they still sterilize humans who join the Tau, or did they change that again? I think kroot are cool on and off the table top, but don't really like the Tau so much. The Farsight Enclaves are a different story. Tau are a faction that some novels show to be "nice" in a not- nice galaxy, and other novels show to have ulterior motives and imply they're as bad as everyone else. The humans who liked the Tau and painted their faces blue and had ponytails who attacked Ciaphis Cain and got waved off by the kroot, that's a funny story. If you're going to betray the imperium, at least with chaos you're still sort of pro humanity.

Hahahahaha I love how much this reads like Imperial propaganda. It's a tough pill to swallow, but for all their anime aesthetics and being at odds with the grimdark world of Warhammer 40k, for all the dark shit they DO do, the Tau are by far the most humane and sane faction in this world, and fuck yes I'd abandon believing in some throne-bound corpse fairy while living worse than a snotling my entire (short and miserable) life to be part of a society, even an alien one, that actually values my contribution.
