How I accidentally became a marriage counselor, what AWFUL things I saw 

people make the mistake of thinking marriage is for everybody, but it is certainly not for the selfish. peace everybody for 2024 !!

I am non Jewish, al least genetically as far as I know, but I love to listen to Manis Friedman. There is so much common sense in his words. Look at us, living in western world lost in strange harmful society concepts, I could never imagine listening to a Rabbi but here I am. Thank you Rabbi for helping us.

Marriage really is the most difficult chapter in every individuals life. The same time l believe, things,or important happenings in life are mend to be , by the stars , our lives are reaten in the universe before we even born. I always believed I want my half my soulmate. But people laughed at me! That doesn't exist ,but I'm sure and more than this the soulmate offer joy to their surroundings and solve many problems

Holy shit, this man is a genius.

I like what the Rabbi says about sitting with a stranger. This is why a "coffee date" with an internet match feels weird. You should already be somewhat acquainted...maybe you are in school together, work together, have mutual friends, etc. You should not be sitting with a complete stranger.

At what point do you meet parents and friends. Doesn't this only happen when you have proposed and put the first ring on it?

Excessive use of Smartphone and technology in general can cause feeling alone.

How I wish this soulmate stuff were true. Can't believe it anymore. I've not yet seen a marriage that works. My own scant attempts to open up deeply to someone have ended in emotional abuse and narcissistic mind games. I wish I could meet the kind of wife the rabbi describes. Has anyone seen her?

I realized in my younger years, I turned my back on God and after 26 years she turned to the bars!! As I see it now I was in lust and she had a 2 month child and turned for me for I was responsible with a full time job!! I gave her everything that was needed and was not enough, but I’m in a good position and will never get back into another relationship!! It’s not necessary!!

The big issue I see is women having fairy tale illusions of what marrying a prince is like. The reality is that marriage is totally different. Is a team effort that requires efforts from both spouses to make it last specially when kids arrive. Too many women stop caring about their spouses which starts the death spiral of the marriage. I have seen it across both of my marriages and across the marriages of all my family members and friends. We men become under appreciated and the love for you women starts to go away. Our focus starts to shift away from you to other potential partners. Then you blame us for cheating and being a bad husband! It’s NEVER your fault and you are the mastermind in spinning everything so that it gives the illusion it’s our fault for everything. We have bent our backs over so many times for you and either you didn’t notice or failed to appreciate it over time. The only reason we stay is because of the damage we want to avoid breaking up the family when kids are involved or the financial carnage that comes with divorce. It’s such a sad situation we are living with today and social media just makes it that much worse.
