As usually extremely interesting and so well explained subject. As you say Bob, being the XJS V12 owner we dream about the manual transmission giving so much more fun to drive our big cats! The kits are relatively expensive and not always really fitting well....will think to DIY using some junkyard gearbox conversion. Thank you for your channel!

Another very informative video thank you. Love to see more racing videos of your track car.

The polish on these videos is increasing with each new release. This guy clearly has an education background and knows how to impart knowledge. Great content. Keep dropping pearls CCC.

Hmm.. So it seems that when I had my Clutch put into my PT cruiser, it made a Grinding noise. Seems that the person who put in the clutch did not bother to adjust the Throw out bearing as I have a Hydraulic clutch. I remember taking it back to them and telling them it was making a grinding noise. But they just said "That was normal". There is a GOOD reason I don't have anyone work on my cars anymore.

The Book (Kirby Palm) is good, but reading it goes slow and with not that much understanding while I am reading. You have the advantage of the medium 'film' (one picture says more than 1000 words), but you use it very well. Sometimes I read one or 2 pages, over and over again, but still don't understand fully what Kirby means. Every video I watch here gives me the 'aha experience'. The Book and your videos are a good combination.

Interesting video, thank you. Agree with the comments about the length of intro and intermission - but you're on that. Subscribed today. I'll definitely be back :)

Loved the video. One day, I want you to do a video on how you made your headers. I’m thinking about doing that soon because I don’t want to spend $4000 on a set.

Already uploaded and scheduled.

Great information. For a road car (1976 XJ12 with Pre HE) what manual transmission would you recommend?

Any TKO five speed would work well. The T56 has one two many overdrives in my opinion. The guys in europe seem to like the Gertrag 5 speed but I don't know anything about them. Thanks for the comment.

Hello, You mentioned the T56 has one too many overdrive gears. IMO it all depends on your final differential gear ratio. A Mid 70's XJ12 Auto probably had a 3.07 ratio and the T56 6 gear is .50. Not good combo. That looks like a LT T56 you have in the video which would have come from a 4 Gen Camaro or Firebird. From the factory they came with a 3.42 differential gear ratio and 16" wheels. At 60mph in 5th gear the engine RPM is 2000 and 6th gear not really much use but at 75mph and up 6th gear shines and good gas mileage. The engine is loping along at 1750 RPM or so.
@thecampchaoschronicles9567
@thecampchaoschronicles9567 Год назад
I use a 4.10:1 final drive ratio.

@@thecampchaoschronicles9567 Hello, Sorry I did not mention I really liked your video. Not much room at all for one to use the LT1 T56 transmission. What bellhouse did you use? I assume you use the Jag just for racing with 4.10:1 rearend. 1st gear in that setup would truly be a "Granny gear" for all your old viewers out there :). I'm sure it's fun to do burnout though!
@thecampchaoschronicles9567
@thecampchaoschronicles9567 Год назад
@@Danno74Z Thanks Danno. The 4.10 works pretty well with the first 5 speeds but 6th is a bit too tall. The bellhousing/flywheel was fabricated in the shop.
@Danno74Z
@Danno74Z Год назад
@@thecampchaoschronicles9567 6th gear at .50 or double overdrive is really useful for cruising at 75+mph and gas mileage on a relatively flat road/interstate. I believe your Jag is a race car so totally irrelevant. Thanks Again!!

I like the intermission with the tractor, but it's a bit long, and the double intro in the beginning doesn't add value - especially when you already have a long intro to begin with. Otherwise, good video, I liked it.

Thanks for the input. My son and I had this conversation yesterday in fact. I like the intro before the formal intro because I want to give the channel a sense of place. I agree the formal intro needs to be shortened to about a third of what it is now, if that. It's a hold-over from last seasons productions that I don't know how to edit yet, I need to know more about Adobe Premier Pro, I'm using iMovie now. I'll probably have to hire it done. I also agree with you about the subscription interlude. I watched the last weeks episode and thought the fertilizer spreader clip in the middle was way too long. It should be just long enough for the subscribe animation and that's it. I'm learning to fly the drone and when you get a new hammer...

@@thecampchaoschronicles9567 Before you commit to Adobe, you might want to check out DaVinci Resolve. I used to use Sony Vegas too (it's now some other company), and liked it too, but a very powerful version of DaVinci is free and used in industry.

I don't mind the farm scenery, but I agree it was a tad long, and lacks overall context. IF you frame in the intro, Jaguar Preserve as part of a "farm" then more of the available scenery makes sense. It needs more *obvious* integration. E.g. Jeremy Clarkson "bought the farm" but still does "Car Stuff" with it.
@multipurposepaperbox
@multipurposepaperbox 3 года назад
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the scenery, it really sets a good tone. A palette cleanser can be very good, but regarding duration there's a fine line between pleasant and disturbing. You're doing very very well bringing us knowledge and information, and production quality is obviously good - but it just needs to be honed in a bit.
@thecampchaoschronicles9567

@@multipurposepaperbox You're right. I've got several videos to upload and I'm going through them to cut those segments down. I've cut 12 seconds out of the formal intro and no one is going to miss it. RoadKill uses 40 seconds between the very beginning and the end of the intro clip. That's what I'm shooting for. The subscribe clip will be two seconds longer than the animation, one at the beginning and one at the end. I'll see how that looks.
