This was a totally new idea for me (and I had no plan going into it and just did it live), let me know what you think. Audio levels seem good Josh. I think you've hit on a winner here, the thing I love best about speedruns as an audience member is getting the explanations of all the tech and neat little tricks that most people never know about the games they play.

I apologize for having only watched for a minute, but already I'm loving this post commentary, mainly because over the past few runs, ive noticed new strats that you never have the time to explain on stream, and here you are explaining it all thoroughly, even pausing the run and marking stuff with a pen! I really like the way you explain things, so I appreciate that you took the time to make a vid with this format!

Yo interesting note about your cop bike not being stored: Someone (I think Petrus and Thriving collaboratively maybe????) found that if you get the cop bike in big smoke before the "keep up mf" cutscene, that bike disappears when you load a save. Also the engine keeps running on it when you get off of it as you can see 5:25 which is part of that whole thing. I guess maybe the vehicle somehow gets assigned a special attribute or something? Really weird considering rockstar probably intended for you to stay on that bicycle the entire time so it's strange to think they would oppose you keeping that.
For future reference, the video player ‘mpv’ might suit this kind of use better. It handles skipping around without messing up the video much more reliably, has keyboard shortcuts for adjusting playback speed ([ and ]), it can skip frame by frame using ‘.’ and ‘,’, and the HUD can be completely hidden. Thanks for a detailed video and great commentary.
I like this style of video, and would love to see the same format for your other games that you speedrun when you hit a new pb. I stopped watching your live stuff because of lack of time, and also the chat and people seemed to constantly aggravate and distract you. With no external distractions, this is a nice lovely Josh in his own mindscape. I enjoy learning all the new speedrun strats like killing a cop and shooting the driver at the beginning which is new to me. Good stuff Josh.
It was funny when Josh complained about not filling his water bottle before he started - I think he forgot that he wasn't doing a live run and he could just get up and walk away any time he wanted lol

By the way, for anyone who doesn't know about why Rider's car was blown up while Joshimuz was explaining the F2 thing, it was to skip the cutscene after the barber. Right after talking about your new hairstyle, Rider will start shittalking the Pizza parlor. If you are doing the mission for the first time, that cutscene is unskippable, so speedrunners will blow up the car to fail the mission right away, and then just skip the cutscene after the barber.
when I was young I played this game and I thought that the old school games are very stable with almost no bugs in them... now seeing all these super weird mechanics like using pc uptime to align the arrows in dancing missions?!?! Xd or that flicking the camera near elevators can crash your game or all the weird inconsistencies in the mechanics like in Sweets girl where they slow your car down. I could not have been more wrong Xd
1:32:00 the "coolest strat" I think is the one that involves driving up the staircase on the right of the train (a few seconds before where he drives on top of the train), going airborne and landing perfectly on the train top.
I never noticed that Sweet and Smoke swap places in Drive-Thru. In the clip you see Sweet is sitting behind Ryder and Smoke behind CJ, but when the mission starts, it´s the other way around :D
It's great to hear your enthusiasm in your explanations! The diagrams were nice, too! Is it possible to use multiple colors, or are you locked to just one?
One of your comments under Episode 28 of True 100% is "If anyone has enough patience and dedication to finish something this ambitious, it's me :P". What is your take on it now?
Should be labelled how you got WR. After all everyone else that has ran this is far too fast, so they must be cheating. It's nice your covering for them though.
You can't use bribe stars on Drive-By; if you get a bribe star and then attempt to get another one the game is going to reset your wanted level to two, and since you can't get a haircut or change clothes because your homies will leave and the wanted level is set to never decrease by just roaming around, you must use the Pay N' Spray.
1:05:00 you can't use bribes, you are forced to go to pay'n' spray. I tried bribes, because one is the other underpass in the park and one next to the gym, which should make it faster, but it always rises back to two stars.

Another Explanation for the "Nine's and AK's" Mission wherein you shoot Emmet or Smoke. Lelreset Explained another purpose of why you shoot them. Aside from the pistol skill, it also makes your shooting more accurate by having a smaller reticle each time you shoot them while you're in that mission. No BS, that reasoning actually worked when he did one mission at San Fierro wherein CJ supposed to steal some packages from guys riding a PCJ/FCR Bike.
wait, what exactly do you mean by "having a smaller reticle"? Does the reticle gets permanently shrinked if you shoot them in that mission? Is that what you're saying?
I played this game so much when I was a kid that I accidentally discovered some speedrun strats on my own: namely the car RNG rerolling with the camera flip and enemy spawn manipulation in gang wars lol I didn't have access to the internet back then (like 2005 or whatever) as well so it was a mighty find for me

I wonder if, at the end, where the CJ dials up the Caesars number, the dialing sound actually is a real number you can dial, which was put there as an Easter egg (wouldn't be the first time R* did that)

Interestingly, in sweets girl, it takes forever to find a car since sweet’s car isn’t in grove street when the mission starts. When I play this casually, it take a good 30 secs - 1 min to get a car
Superb commentary, I don't usually watch videos this long but the way you explained things was very entertaining and time just flew away, I've learned a lot of stuff and trivia I didn't know about the game, the best part is you get to witness how much stuff you speedrunners do on the background just to keep it going.
This is very interesting. I learned the backround of glitches i see all the time. I have one question though, why do you sometimes switch through all the camera views real fast?
There's different 3rd person cameras for cars. One is very close, the default one is a bit further away and the last one is very far away. Josh prefers using the very far away one but some Missions reset the camera to the default middle one after completing them (like at 2:04:30 for instance). And when it does that it also kinda screws up the order of the cameras so he has to go through all of them to go back to the far away one
You have a real talent when it comes to explaining things. I think you should focus on it even more and maybe base your content on you explaining things.
you know i've never considered just driving on top of the train from a high ledge for that one train mission, the way i would always cheese it was by just launching myself off a ramp and landing onto the train then shooting and running them all over, surely that's far more difficult and less consistent than the strat you use in the run so i imagine that's why you use it
