Thank you! It’s a little “clique-y” at first but after a while, you’ll find your people. There are a lot of committees you can get involved in + conferences, etc. There’s always something to do when you don’t feel like studying haha As for la course aux stages, I might make a separate video about that. What do you think?

Being in the Philippines, we have to take a pre law which is a 4 year course to qualify for the Juris Doctor which is another 4 year course. Becoming a Lawyer at 23 is kind of hard here lol

The same to me. But here in Dominican Repúblic we dont have an in between programme. We just, choose the college, paid the entering exam, take it (its super easy), and became studying. We have Only mandatory clases during 4 YEARS! 🤯 And at the end... We graduated. About the bar school, we dont have. We just pay the price for the registraron at the "bar" and then we are able to be a lawyers😅. BUT, if you really want to suceed, you must have the money enough to paid your máster as quick possibly after your graduate. Law firms are pretty "selective" about that. Otherwise, the only job you will be suitable is secretary, assistant, paralegal.. But until you get the máster done... You will be not be seen as a full Lawyer by Law firms here. Neither to chief inhouse Lawyers. ☘️

In Austria it takes much longer....it takes at least 4 years(most people need 5-6 years) to complete your degree at university. After that you gotta work at the court for 9 months, then 3.5 years at a Lawyer and THEN you take the bar exam, which is one of the toughest tests in the country. So at the earliest you are 27 as a woman and 28 as a man, cause they serve 6-12 months in the military.

are there English law programs in UDEM? I'd like to continue my studies in English (I'm in a french system) but I've heard that Concordia is not the best place to study law.

the JD program at Udem is in English but the bachelors of law at Udem is in French! Concordia doesn’t have a law program so the options in Mtl are Mcgill, UdeM or UQAM

How about UOTTAWA? Why didn’t you apply? Is it because you wanted to stay in Montreal or just because it was harder or was it a bad school? I’m really interested by it.

It’s actually easier to get into UOTTAWA because they do not look at your r score but rather at your overall average (in %). I didn’t apply because I wanted to stay in Montreal and I knew I would be able to get into UdeM. It’s a great law school though!

Can you apply to any law schools in Canada if you graduated from Cégep? I know it’s not the same for dental/medical schools.

In other provinces, you need to do an undergrad before applying for law school (except for the civil section of UofOttawa where you can apply directly from CEGEP)!

Hey Nimna, I think you should talk to the Bar administration of the province you'll be immigrating to. You will most likely need to go to school to "validate" your degree here in Canada.
