Outside of Red Auerbach, Jerry West is the greatest NBA GM in history. No wonder he’s “the Logo.” He was a successful coach and was as great a player as he was an executive in the NBA.

Amazing trivia about Kobe Bryant: Kobe was actually still 17 when he was scouted and evaluated by Jerry West. Not even 18. Kobe was still 17 during the draft, and turned 18 on August 23. He was 18 during pre-season and at the start of the 1996-97 season.

I think Jerry is a humble guy but he & Russell deserving. Both got trophy 🏆 fitting & the logo he played 2 decades been to so many Finals. Then Jerry picked Showtime Lakers squad & Shaq/Kobe Lakers, Memphis grind teams & GSW he has stamp across decades. He put his reputation on that skinny injury prone kid Curry who transformed the league, Kobe, Magic, himself evolve league drastically.

Its pretty shocking to hear how a lot of NFL contracts Aren't guaranteed. Theres so much risk in football and a bad injury would mean the players lose so much potential earnings

I met a guy who played for the chargers. Got injured... lost the remainder of his contract. When I met this guy, he was sharing a house with 8 roommates... barely scraping by to live. That's when I learned about the contract thing. For how much $ the NFL as a league makes, they need to BACK UP those contracts. And let's not even talk about the NFL's paltry post-retirement player support. I think it's the worst of the major sports leagues
