I had about $70k credit limit before the pandemic hit and used about 20% of it, but when the pandemic hit, it was like a dominoe effect, one bank lowered a limit and then next bank and the next bank until my total went down to like $35k limit, so my 20% usage balance I had ballooned to 40%, and bc it looked like my usage went up that much my credit took a hit. Pretty much the banks fault. But now they are slowly raising the limit again

I always wondered what you guys' *all my credit gurus that I watch (Sebby, Mark, Brian, you)* individual card limits were. I'd watch some rando dude with a YT caption offering advice on getting "high" limits, only to get halfway through the video and he has a $3,000-$5,000 limit. I did have BOA slight lower a limit on an existing card when I got approved for a second one but it bounced back soon after. Discover denied me for an increase because I wasn't using it enough. I was just being neurotic though in even asking for the CLI. I ONLY requested it cuz the limit was $18,200 and the number bothered me. I wanted a round $20k 🤣

It seems that Chase will sometimes just raise the limit on the credit card that it would like you to use most, even though you have other cards with them with lower limits that you've had for a longer amount of time. Recently, they raised the limit on my CFU which already had the highest limit out of all my cards, even though I've had the Freedom, Amazon Prime and CSP for a longer amount of time (I've had the Freedom card for a much, much longer amount of time as it was one of the first cards that I've ever gotten). And I didn't ask for a credit limit increase. They just gave it to me, which is fine because it improves my credit utilization which improves my score. It seems though like they really want to promote the CFU, presumably because it's their most profitable card.

It’s a great tool for business opportunities. Instead of having to have the cash to invest in an opportunity, you could pull from CCs. It's more important to pay off a balance by the due date than it is to keep credit utilization low - that's a bunch of BS. What, you have a $10k limit but only use $1,500 to try to prove something to the credit card company? As some kind of technique? BS. Whatever your limit is, that's what the credit card company believes they can risk on you.

In order to keep your credit score high, it is important to keep utilization as low as possible. You dont have to max out cards in order to get a credit limit increase.
