Pete, you are the Michael Parkinson of RU-vid, you never interrupt, are patient and professional, letting the interviewee tell their story whilst posing the questions viewers want answers to. True investigative journalism
Retired Working For You is one of my go-to RU-vid channels. Chris is fantastic and always produces such fun and interesting content. He’s quite a character!
"Retired Working For You" is one of my favorite channels. Great interview Pete, one of your best. I love Chris, He is brilliant, awesome and nuts! Love the deep dive into his life. I was a cameraman in Hollywood for many years, remember his company. Changed the movie Industry. Awesome video Pete!
What Chris said about taking a 'mini-retirement', of unknown duration...that was me in 2019, quitting my job and heading off to Thailand as a widow. It's life-changing because it clears the cobwebs and freshens you up. His story has strands which are shared with many expats and nomads. Great interview!
Chris has been a very good friend of mine since High school. He is truly a gentleman and a scholar. A great dad and husband and always fun to watch. I was able to watch his rise in every facet of his life. Filming parties. Life. Great video guys. Thanks Pete. Keep it up!
What a guy! Amazing energy and enthusiasm. It’s like he’s still raving from the 90’s. Love his philosophy and what he said about “one more year” then you find out in your 70’s. Been having those same thoughts and discussions myself lately and he has confirmed any lingering doubts I had. Really looking forward to the next part. Great interview Pete. You allowed him speak freely without interruption and that 35 minutes just flew by. Well done mate.
Hi Thairish times, love your videos. I've been here for 36 years and have some really, really wild stories, I was an extreme backpacker who arrived here one day and never left!!
Pete, I wish I could have given this interview TWO likes. I've followed Chris since he appeared on Jonny There's Something Happening's channel. In listening to Chris's story, it spoke to me. This year I found myself at a crossroads realizing I was miserable in what I was doing. So I walked away from it. It is one of the best decisions for me ever. Yes, people will question why you are closing the door on a lucrative job, but other doors open in due time. Thanks, Pete -- I look forward to part 2 of this interview. Cheers.
Another fantastic interview Pete, your cool, calm, and collected. you never interrupt or cut in, your patient and professional and it's showing, Chris seems a really lovely man, and deserves all he has, looking forward to round 2.
Retired Working for You is the real deal. He is the ONLY one I trust for immigration and travel advice. He's positive and fun. Another great interview. Look forward to the interview with you and your wife.
Great interview with Chris Parker. Like Chris, most ex-pats who are successful in Thailand were successful before they came here. It's good that you're finding these stories 👍 👍 👍
GSD people! My people, great interview. He makes a good point; there is almost always a point where the technical leads that love what they do eject when the processes folks suck the point out of the mission.
Great deep dive into Chris’ life! We’re from a similar part of Ontario, went to the same uni (at the same time it seems) and share a love of travel and Thailand. I just need a small percentage of his success and I’d be a happy man. Looking forward to part 2 mate!
Great stuff Pete. I've heard luck defined as when preparedness meets opportunity. Chris' story is just that. He saw a golden opportunity and had a valuable skill along with the courage and ambition needed to take it all forward. I love stories like this.
Great interview. I’ve had a few beers with Chris and Adam (and a Jerome) in Toronto, Koh Samui, and Bangkok over the last year and Chris is a genuine guy. He’s just like his on camera “persona”, no BS, friendly, always willing to share a story and meet new people.
I've been looking forward to this interview finally happening. Great relaxed conversation in a very comfortable atmosphere. Don't keep us waiting for too long with part 2, Pete.
Excellent interview Pete and thanks to Chris for being so open about his life (Part 2 should be humorous with a few more beers😉 ) . Well done and thanks to both of you.
Had no idea about his backstory in the film industry . One of the most underrated interviews I've watched so far with two Legends! Thanks Pete 🙏 Now time to watch part 2
We love Chris and the flow he's proposing; plenty variety of subjects with tempo and humor. My fav with Paddy D. Thairish Times;....I will explore your channel!
Great video. It looks like that you have found a niche in Thailand as a youtuber.Well done. It is also obvious that this guy is exceptionally talented even though he won't admit it. The best insight he gave was that he fell in love with Thailand but did not give up his "day job" for 20 years and did not move to Thailand until after 25 years of first visiting. For the vast majority of people that is how to do it.The words to the song, Dignity by Deacon Blue ring true for the vast majority of people who end up successfully, living the dream permanently. The "one more year" dilemma is a real one but intuitively, one will sense when it is time to make the move irrespective of how much you have been earning. Life is too short particularly when you hit your fifties.
I live in Burbank California work in the movie industry. Excellent interview. Love your show I just subscribed and shared with my 34 year old son who lives in Colorado. With great interviews like this you’ll hit 100k in no time at all. Keep up the good work👍
Very Interesting interview with Chris. He is a very nice, sympathetic and Normal person, with all his success. These kind of people are always successful, easy talking. His business was a success and Now also his You Tube channel is huge. You make a Very Good and interesting interview Pete. Thanks. 🙏
I really like Chris Parker. His channel was the first one I started to follow about Thailand, just before Covid. It has honestly been difficult for other youtubers to live up to his quality. But he has another background than most of the others, so that is part of it. I will start following you also Paddy, as you have a good attitude, and I am sure you will be succesful like Chris.
Chris is great...found him when he started as I was missing Thailand so much...he's a very lucky guy or should I say someone who has put in the work and had a very interesting life with a good heart...
& to think I had an opportunity to go work in Phuket in 92/3 for the Co I was working for at the time (in the Sports Resort/Health Club/Hospitality Industry) in the SFO Bay Area > chickened out....& now here I am looking to get over there for the 1st time 3 Decades later > something's telling me if I woulda gone in the early 90's I woulda grown those Island Life roots that look so good on those who took the plunge.
Hey top interview.. been following you both for some time now.. keep the excellent vids coming.. Cant wait to holiday back in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket.. All the best from New Zealand, Cheers!
at 25:53 I loved the quote "a lot of people can one more year themselves into their seventies" that quote has nudged me nearer the decision to live in Thailand before my best days are over - thanks Chris & Pete
Great Interview Pete ! Love the conversational connect you both have and I look forward not to just part 2 but more of your content. Have a great day !
