just a tip (at least for hot swaps): support the board from the back when putting in the switches because it may rip out the socket then u gotta do some no fun soldering.

really solid for a first build man! i also really like how you were straightforward in this video and just admitting that you didn't know much about custom keyboards (which is totally ok) i love seeing people with your attitude about this sort of stuff. a lot of people for some reason pretend that they are professionals from the start. you picked out a really solid board to start out with. definitely got a new sub

I've got Akko CS Lavender purples in my own build (a heavily built up hand-me-down Redragon K552). The whole thing sounds like Mt Krabs walking, I love it!

Great job for a first build, however I do hear a little bit of ping, I would suggest just opening it up and doing the force break mod to remove all case ping, it’s quick, and all you need is some tape.

Amazing choice for a first build. AKKO'S boards come pre installed with foam and most of their switches dont need lube to still sound good!

My first „custom-like” keyboard is Akko 3068B and was very pleased with it, but mod 008 is another level with fully aluminum case and gasket mount… Anyway there is so many good options now

i remember buying my first ducky one2 sf and dipping my toes into the keyboarding hobby. after about a year i got tired of cherry browns so i bought a soldering iron and glorious panda switches (big waste of money imo). i got to work but one of the copper connectors for my SPACEBAR broke in the process which made it unusable and so i’ve been using hot swap ever since. my taste for switches also shifted from holy/glorious pandas to gat milk yellows, and i’m better at basic maintenance now :)

step 2 is to mod the keyboard, you can lube the switches and tape mod it and add orings and other things

I found that akko lavenders aren't great for gaming, don't get me wrong they are one of my favorite switches and I even have then in my first board. But they are very tactile

@@goddammit dude I fuck with that comment lol Og keyboard: ducky one two mini with blue switches (dont roast me I got this when I was young and naive) First custom keyboard specs: idobao Id 80 crystal, black cherry pie switches, gmk blue samurai with the extras ( I don’t know I had some money) and the generic durock v2 crystal stabs. This took me like a year to get but I love it and I think it’s worth it as I spend 200 hours a month using it :) P.S fuck import taxes man that shit cost me like £150 that hurt me more than anyone will ever know

How did it take a full day? My mod005 came pre-assembled, just had to add keycaps and switches

Because his quote obviously didn't? A full day is excessive, butbhe had to build from scratch, and lube his switches and stabs. This was hot-swap, but many boards require soldering.

Now get Carrot switches and lube them with krytox 205g lube and krytox 105g for the springs. Put the springs into a zip lock bag and put 13 drops of krytox 105g lube and shake the bag

@@matt_obrien pre lubing and factory lubing are highly inferior to lubing it by hand and a tape mod is a good mod but you should definitely add something to fill up the case either way if your just getting into the hobby it isn’t a bad start
