This was the best DIY simulator build that I’ve seen. It was detailed enough and the presentation and communication was right on. Very well done. Thank You.
Very good video. Good info on that Screen. I just built a simulator in my Dad's garage but he purchased the high dollar retractable unfolding screen which is really nice but quite expensive along with Skytrak and E6 lifetime purchase.. His build was very expensive. I myself am building an Garmin R10 build that is going to be off the back of my outdoor backyard bar near my swimming pool, and it will be a more budget build, and screens are one thing I am struggling with deciding so i appreciate your info!! Thank You
Great video Joe - I wasn’t aware of your channel (but am now) - I’ve subscribed and thank you so much for choosing the Hybrid Me screen and for mentioning us in the video - much appreciated.
Thanks mate! I just use the basic hue plug www.philips-hue.com/en-au/p/hue-smart-plug/8719514342361?origin=71700000117483681&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw_ZC2BhAQEiwAXSgClvnbNfVSN3AWcJfq9KHYwRQSI9HX9Y6nOBMRazorsGbFVNDzhhFeSxoCDlcQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds And I pair it with the hue remote as well so I can just turn it on and off with the remote instead of using my phone. Cheers
Great detailed video. Good to see you listing everything you bought. We are very limited in Australia. Could you share a link to the steel joiners you mentioned that were available?
Hey Bevan yes one of the hardest things was trying to source quality products and not get stung too badly by shipping!! You will have to check pricing and see what works out cheapest. If you have an amazon prime membership then these might be the cheapest way to go. You just have to make sure you get the right kit that suits the frame you intend to build. Aoneky 1/2 in DIY Golf Frame Corner Kit for 10x10x10ft Practice Golf Cage Net amzn.asia/d/1Qo2oBh
Thanks Peter yes definitely needs another update or two. A couple of things they need to improve... One being the RCT integration. It's still not there. No club data on the wedges. Another being those random big misreads with the driver. But it's not far off really! Bloody good for the price point. You are never going to software fix the biggest issue which is the inability to take gear effect into account effecting spin axis but there are definitely some minor improvements that can happen! Cheers
Hi Joe If you’re ever looking to move to an enclosure set up give us a shout! We’re new to the market and have launched our DIY enclosure kits. Happy to help support Aussie content creators Sam @ Bayside Golf
Hey Sam I have actually seen you guys pop up and love what you're doing. Thanks for that mate I really appreciate it! I'll definitely keep that in mind in the future as at the moment my set up is working but it's a bit of a Frankenstein set up 🤣 Cheers
Hey Matt thanks for that! So the tracks I got from Amazon UrbanRed Flexible Bendable Ceiling Curtain Track, 5 Meters (16.4FT), Ceiling Track Ceiling Mount for Curtain Rail with Track Curtain System, RV Curtain Track, Room Divider, Ceiling Track for Curtains amzn.asia/d/aWZjMV9 The hybrid me screen speak to Phil at hybridme.co.uk And for the curtains I got them from spotlight (Australia). I can't find a link but I just went in and spoke to them and described what I wanted and they sold it by the metre and it was actually not that expensive! Hope that helps mate
Hey mate yes a bit of both so the inserts definitely in my research offer more give so they would help prevent elbow soreness. One of my friends has just gone to the insert and says he will never go back. And also for cost.. a bit like my screen with the impact strip once it's used just put a new strip in for $100 instead of getting a whole new mat. I will most likely when my mat is near its end of life (it will take a while because I can rotate it) get an insert for it to test out.
Hey Joe, what’s the distance of Ball to screen? And R10 to ball you’re using here? As well as the distance between the 2 black curtains? Great idea definitely going to try similar in my garage. Thanks a lot, Casey
Hey Casey thanks mate! So I always run my R10 and also MLM2PRO at minimum distance unit to ball and then maximise ball to screen. So R10 I run just over 6ft unit to ball and then that give me 9-10 feet ball to screen. For the curtains I run them the width of the screen for the first metre and then have them angled outwards to maximise space in the hitting area. I keep them about 1ft away from the shelving units against the wall just in case a ball hits them nothing on the shelf will get hit. Cheers
Thanks Clinton! So the first one I made I did a video on it. Made it out of craft wood as.its super light and easy to work with. The second one I have and am currently using I got a mate to 3d print me the frame. It looks a lot nicer and more professional to have the 3d printed one but both work great.
Awesome video. Putting together a simple outdoor setup for now but love learning what people are doing. I may have missed this somewhere, but what is the spotlight used for? Does it help the r10? Just curious. Thanks.
Thanks mate! And good luck with the set up. The spotlight is purely for me to see the ball as I want the room as dark as possible so the projector looks the best. As the Garmin is a radar launch monitor light has no impact on the reads. It could be completely dark or light and it wouldn't make a difference. Cheers
Hey James I definitely wouldn't want it any lower 🤣. I have hit the roof with driver a few times when I'm trying to absolutely kill the ball. But for thousands of swings it's been fine. It all depends on how tall you are and more importantly your swing plane. If you have a flatter swing it's fine. It would definitely be better if it was a bit taller as a few people that have come over have also had run-ins with the ceiling 🤣.
Hi joe, great video mate. Iv just purchased a setup from 24/7 golf myself however yet to set up. Quick question, where did you get the cage for your project from? Cheers
Hey mate that would be an epic set up... The good thing about those are set them up and you're done! No thinking about how you're going to do ceiling protection or side protection. You will love it. So I actually made it I have videos on how I made the original one and then the second one I made I got a mate to 3d print the frame. Other options of things to use to make the frame are PVC pipe.. then just wrap them in the mesh. I just wanted something lightweight so I used the craft or bulsa wood initially and then 3d printing it was even better. Cheers
@@JLagGOLF thanks for the reply joe. Yeah my sim is going into the shed so I have some 3m high backboards on order. I'll fix them to the back wall as I have to block as much of the metal at the back as I can. I was told I don't need to worry so much about the sides, just mainly the back. Will see how it goes. I'm going to fix the projector to the top front of the enclosure. I purchased the larger 4x3x3m one so I should be safe even if I skyed a driver. (I hope!)
@@sss54749 that sounds absolutely epic. I wish I had a shed for a dedicated set up.... Next house lol 🤣 I keep telling the wife in our next house. Even though we only just moved in to this one. Yeah for sure and worst case if you are getting interference I got the side curtains for next to nothing from spotlight and put the eyelets in myself.
@@JLagGOLF haha! Get the Mrs into golf & that would be half the battle won ! Lol. I will definitely look into the side curtain option should I need some sorta side block out. Thanks heaps for making these videos, they're super helpful!
@@sss54749 yes that's a work in progress the kids are straying to get in to it now so hopefully the Mrs will as well. Not a problem mate it's a bit of a hobby and it seems to help people out! Cheers
Thanks Matt! So the mevo plus can be quite hard to get putting to work consistently. If I was going to use it indoor and outdoor 50/50 then yeah it could be an option.. and I love how Flightscope keep bringing major updates to the hardware (the most recent being face impact location which is huge for a radar based unit). I read all the time in the discord about people saying how bad and inconsistent the putting is and most of them just play Auto Putt because of this. Radar based units just aren't really designed with putting in mind. But for me indoor photometric based units are just so good.. they eliminate so many issues that radar units have in an indoor environment. Because I almost exclusively use my unit indoors the GC2 is the best option for me based in Australia. If I lived in the U.S I'd definitely look in to the Bushnell launch pro which is a GC3 rebranded and subscription model. Also Foresight GC3 just announced a ball data only model that you can later unlock club data with a payment. Another option is the new uneekor eye mini coming out in a few months. But it all depends how you want to use your unit... Having said that photometric units are also great outdoors. Just look at the PGA tour range each week most of the units are GC QUAD. Hope that helps.
Hey mate I was going to recommend a few of my other videos for you to watch but I think you found them! For me right now it's the Rapsodo MLM2PRO.. I think for some people who really can't stomach the annual subscription fees then the R10 is a great unit! But the MLM2PRO for me is just incredible now.. especially with all the new added features. Cheers
Have the same laptop Joe, my two builds were quite a bit cheaper, sons with 11 by 9 foot screen, spent $1200 us, including the Garmin and rest. Video on my channel! Doing mine now! Good info!
Did mine with a shoe horn first, I am going to turn mine around, 180 degrees, my screen in front of my door. Flipping to help access. It works, but can’t build guitars like it is! Lol
@@JLagGOLF Super :) Takie pytanie według Ciebie pomieszczenie o takich wymiarach długość 4.3 m szerokość 3.1 m a wysokość 2.6 m czy wystarczy miejsca żeby zbudować taki symulator?
A jakiej firmy polecasz monitor startowy?
