RIP? They're still there lol. I don't understand what the point of leaving them there and putting the wall on the inside is however. If something breaks the glass, it's going to be a pain to replace the window.
It's a safety measure, since someone could bust those windows and walk right into the server room. This is common practice when retrofitting a room that has windows.
@@DarkStar851 Yes, that's the purpose, but still if the windows break, they can't just leave the broken glass on the side of the building only to fall and cut someone. Also, concealing windows helps with heat management because sunlight in the day and darkness at night is a hell of a fluctuation to manage.
Ok so maybe I didn't clarify well the above video, as I am getting a lot comments that it could of been done in a smaller amount of time. Well yes maybe it could, hands off to people that can do it. When I say in 3 months its not only what you see here. There were 120 net lines we had to pass through six floors, the 3 months also includes the cabling that was done through the floors and ceilings and the plug installation.
I feel bad bro reading almost all of them i Even joined in a little on some comments best treads ever!!!!!! You did a great job and I'm a pro so I hope you know that I know your good in my book. Could have had it done in 8 days maybe lol just one more jab sorry lol I understand with respect for your work take care buddy 😁
No matter what you do there are always RU-vid viewers who could do it better faster, cheaper or whatever. What's especially galling is when the so-called pros do it. If you're a professional then you should know that you can't speculate on the time it took to do a job without knowing the particulars of the given job. You don't know whether they could only get access to the location for limited hours. You don't know if they had legacy equipment that was still in service and could only be shut down at a particular time. We are only seeing what happened in that one room. There could have been issues with the local power utility/electricians getting power to the room. If you don't know the particulars then ask or shut up and keep it moving.
The more time you waste, the more sure you are of your build. Building faster can create unforseen errors in construction and will screw it up more. As we built our servers for 5 months we've learned that slower is more better than building faster because you do things in detail
Update: we have added anti shocks to the racks in case of an earthquake so that the racks dont move or fall over, which is extreme but I want to be sure just in case. We will also update the aircon to a newer system as the old system is giving us problems. It actually turned of after a power failure and when i got in it was like a oven.
It sounds like they were working under sub-optimal conditions, but if anyone watching is planning to do a similar project take heed: you really should do all of the drywall finishing before even thinking about moving network equipment in. That dust gets everywhere...
Servers were moved on the last day, also due to the fact that import of our new inergen fire system took a long time it had to be install after the server room was finished
I understand what you're saying and what's happening, he was just asking because even the server cabinets would then have dust all over them. Good job, I think you did well with such a limited budget!
Having done this kind of work for the better part of 25 years what you accomplished part time in three months is impressive. Excellent! People that've never done this stuff have no clue how time consuming it is. If you try to do it half assed you'll be doing it again very soon. Well done guys!
Why the comments are complaining about it takes so much time, 3 months Is not much time and Is a complete and long process and for all the work, the room, cleanning, assembly, wiring its fine 3 months, no?
Its good to get an idea of how things work in communist China. I am guess you haven't read all the comments, so I will do a quick run down. This work was done on the weekend. So we had to work normally Monday-Friday and then continue working on the weekend. So yes we did sit down a lot as we were working 7 days a week and on weekend more than 8 hours a day. Yes we were tired, yes we slacked off and near the end we were exhausted. It was not a race to see how fast we could do it. Thank you for your comments by the way.
I did read all the comments. That's why I said the communist china part, it's a joke. I meant no offense but I guess all these experts came out of the woodwork and had their 2 cents
First of all, sprinklers react to heat. Second of all, it’s his bloody Server room and he may decide if smoking is allowed or not. Third of all, it’s a construction site at this Time 🤦♂️
in 3 months!!! holy cow that is an amazing job, it took us 4 staff to finish it in 7 n half, that includes routing cables to the secondary building to the mains. but the most annoying part was the fact that I made a mistake tryin to finish it quickly as possible. Rookie employee here
Hello Derrius checking in post a trip. Go good things and data and files abd programs. Good reviews. Go good things. Also some and dbs and data and check ins , and generals. Go I and go good volumes. And Logs. Go hp s and Ibms and Amigas D. Branch
I wished so hard the directors of the company I work at understood the importance of an Equipment room. Our server rack is literally inside a 1.5m x 1.5m janitor closet, near cleaning supplies. We leave the rack open at its side, as the front door won't have space to open.
Hello Luam. Yes I know exactly how you feel. IT budget is always the lowest and also the first person they look at when there is an issue. Sometimes you need to show them ;) that when things go wrong what is your down time. I would suggest a power point presentation on what happens when you lose IT infrastructure and present it. Make sure the worst case scenario is there.
Hey Hey Hey, I saw a lot of sitting down in that video... you could have cut the video down to 9 minutes.... Do better next time!...LOL Great video thanks for sharing..
@@SpiroKala nah bro, didn't know you were taking heat for not cutting the length down (I appreciate you taking the time to share).. I was making a crack at the speed.. because it was fast...
Reading the comments and thinking, people in the internet are very weird. Thanks for the video, I also work with IT and I thought that the job was very good.
Thank you Regis for you comments. We tired to do the best we could. Wish i had more of a budget to get more things I need. But that is life you never have an unlimited budget in IT
I think reading all of the comments was the best time I ever had on RU-vid The guy did a good job if you read all the comments you get the full story very epic
the server room was not functional at the time so no smoking was put after the server room was up and running and anyway it is not up to you to hire them lol
nicely done! once upon a time i wanted to do this sort of thing for a career... nearly did too! but now i can watch excellence in motion, i may have missed my chance but seeing such excellence will do for me 😊 thats a bril job! i'd be proud to say thats my server room (if it was mine that is!) you guys (any gals too?) worked your asses off not just in there but out in the building too... you deserve more acknowledgement for your work!
Yes there are some flaws. Budget was the main reason. We couldn't do anything with the floors but a fire system has been install. An also the location of the server room didn't allow us to do a lot. It was not a new building.
That really depends on what you use the server for. On our system we have 10 VM which support around 60+ users. The capacity is for a much large amount.
Size dosent matter selecting the right equipment is the goal. Always think ahead because a small company might grow and you need to adapt without changing all your systems every time. Select equipment you can upgrade.
In Greece all buildings are build to with stand earthquakes besides that natural disasters are not that common in the city + this is not a house its an office
really enjoyed the vid, gotta say i loved the part of watching the dry wall sag over at around the 1:25 mark. Ive always been curious about it but was fascinating to see it happen.
darn doing things the greek way sure takes 3 months, but that might be why the countries that do a lot more work in that time frame have to cough up so much cash to keep the greeks from going bankrupt. after all, if you tell a greek to do more work they suddenly get up of their asses and start rioting
So your saying I owe you or my father, mother, sister or friend owes you money? You should look into your facts a bit more on how and why the Greece is bankrupt. The people that bankrupt Greece are the politicians and not the people of Greece. I have payed every cent to my tax authorities everything i owe i have payed. So look at your facts and dont judge everyone the same and especially if you dont live in a country thats going through what Greece is going through. I deeply hope, never in your life or your kids life, live what Greece is going through. The server room could of been done in a week but that wasnt my plan. "If you tell a Greek to get up and do work they start rioting" what a load of bullshit we work just as hard as you and many more hours with much less pay. How much do you get payed a month? pretty sure its not 486 euros........... is it?
after taxes, I would hope to have more then what I have but then I sure don't spiro I am happy that I have a roof over my head and 200 euro to live on for a month. so no I don't get 486 euro before taxes but I might as well get it after all the taxes are higher here so that our governments can pay a lot of money to the EU and through the EU to countries like Greece to keep them going. but then again the taxes would still be the same as if countries like Greece did not exist because of the greedy EU SOB's. but if you would be doing so much sitting around on our asses and gaming as some of your shots show on the video we would be fired
Why do the Greek people have to suffer for mistakes and theft of Eu money from politicians, bankers and company's for getting grants from the EU and just putting the money in their pockets. The Greek people have paid and suffered enough. Saying we dont work is not right as the situation in Greece is, we all work more than we should and dont get paid. There is no such thing as overtime pay here anymore, we work 10-12 hours a day, because International company's HR will tell you if you dont want to work without getting paid there are more people who will work for peanuts. And if you think its bullshit i can tell from first hand that it was told to me. I went for a job interview and they told me, work hours are from 9:00 - 21:00 Monday to Friday and 9:00 -17:00 on Saturday total: 68 hour week. Wage? 586 euros a month not a week, a month. Everyone blames the Greek people and that's wrong as we havent done anything, havent made any deals with the EU, havent borrowed any money from the EU and dont owe anything to the EU, yet i am paying back a debt which has nothing to do with me. Was it right for Greece to borrow money? No. Do i have to pay it back? Yes but getting shit from everyone and being called a bum about it No i dont think i should nor should any Greek!
Wow! I didn't know about the situation if Greece! It's crazy I earn just around 340 Eruos (400$) every paycheck, and that's every two weeks.. and about 10$ an hour (8.49 EU). And I don't even live by myself, and only work about 20 hours a week.. Maybe more if I'm scheduled as so! I could really use some living tips fro you my friend, I'm moving out here pretty shortly. I mean living might be cheaper there? I'm not sure.. You did fantastic Spiro. And he is right on one thing, our taxes suck haha. I would get usually about a 400$ paycheck (339 Euros) and more than 60 or 70$ is being taken out, and that's with me being EXEMPT from taxes! (Also keep in mind it's not a flat rate, the more you earn, the higher % they take out) I have found they take around 12-15% with ~100-150$ and around 400 it more than doubles. I think it was like 23 or 24%? Can't wait until I turn 18! haha. Anyways, I could be wrong on some of this stuff, it's just what I could remember off the top of my head, have a good weekend, y'all
Hi, will you please tell me what kind of internet connection is required build such server room. I means is there any speed requirement for that internet speed.
So many are asking what the song is i found it ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Eaj-V2KIxRk.html "I Am a Man Who Will Fight for Your Honor" by Chris Zabriskie
Wow must be satisfying to be able to do a build like this from scratch. It's rare that you can do that, as typically you have some kind of mess that you have to fix without actually being able to bring it offline. I want to redo my home server room some day, there's some things I could do better, like moving the batteries in a separate room so they are easier to maintain.

mhm, 3000 would be the model line and this one here is a 3700... we still have a few running at our customers and they are pretty reliable but after 12+ years and the "all ip"-trend growing we had to replace them with innovaphone PBXs. May i ask how many extensions are connected? Very nice video btw...
Depends on what exactly you want to do with the servers. Designing the server room, building the server room, maintaining the server hardware, maintaining the software. A server is only a tool, not a business goal.
The one thing I see which is a major drawback for this room's use as a server room is the sprinkler system. You don't want water near your network equipment. Other than that nice work. I have to agree that finishing the dry wall stuff before moving equipment in would have been better, but some times you have no other choice. Thank you for the video :-)
Yes the sprinkler system is gone and we have added a clean agent fire suppression system and also would like to note that the equipment was moved in the last day only the empty rack was there when the drywall was done. Im going to do a follow up video to explain some things.
@@SpiroKala where is the video then? More 3 months to made it? Jk dude, I recognize your work. A enjoyable piece of work when we put effort and organization on a project. Appreciate your work!
Well the best in my opinion is VMWare but you can also do it with virtual box but you will need a lot of core and memory for it to run. Not sure if it is the best for video editing as you need a good graphics card for that.
@@SpiroKala i found a system with 69gb ram, 16 cores run at 2.6ghz, also over 200 gb ssd with a 1tb hard drive oh and a NVIDIA Quadro 600. This is house in a HP Z620 Workstation running Windows 7 Professional but others say that i can download window 10 pro for free and use that cause window 10 pro comes with virtual ware. how that sound.
Yep we are. As you say definitely Greek!! to complete that server room i work for 3 months straight 7 days a week 8-10 hour days. So yeah Greeks, we work more than other nations! Ask first or read the comments first. Dick!
Okay, I have questions: Why is that guy at 5:30 playing games at a workplace? Why is there are guy smoking multiple times in a server room, right next to a stacked rack with gear he most likely does not own? Why do you see at any time a maximum of two people actually working? Good for you that you're so happy about only needing 3 months for this, but this is a 1 month job. 1.5 when you add some time for the sprinklers guy you've waited for.
Ok lets go. Guy playing video games is 17 and came to help didn't get paid yet he gave up all his weekends to come help so yeah if he wants to play games on his phone he should as he didn't need to be there. Have you work for 3 months on week ends and not gotten paid? i seriously doubt it. Second there is no gear in the rack and yes here in Greece we have a smoking issue that we haven't worked out, but you all love smoking everywhere when your on holidays here. Two people working? no there was 4 but you don't see all the cabling we had to pass thought on 6 floors, the bird shit we had to clean the dead rats we had to remove nor do you see all the 150 workstations we had to set up, securing the cables on the cable mounts so there are not just laying there. So if you really knew, you would know that to setup a server room you have to 1. pass all cables from every floor to the rack, which you have to pass through wall and ceilings, connect them all, test them all one by one, certify the all one by one, connect the cables to the patch cords which in the video you see. So yes after all that on weekends for 3 months i think we have the right to sit around. And just to clarify the sitting around, was trying to find solution to problems we encountered and creating to create ideas for new things. So if you think US Greeks are lazy well then i guess we are. That clarify everything for you Mike?
