I'll be honest, from all of the other AR artists I've found online, yours is probably the most elaborate and also tries to do something different/unique with the technology rather than just layers that pop out or a very simple animation. It's a next level for sure.
I feel like the way you incorporate hand drawing on paper all the way through the digital process into VR is analogous to the way using tube tech to process audio signals into the digital realm, especially with acoustic sound sources, has kept digital musical art development organic and therefore fresh. I know how to use 3D design software, but I still prefer to start every design on graph paper with pencil, ruler etc. Creativity flows best for me when it flows from the hands. Your work is some of the first I've seen to be able to push that type of organic creativity successfully into the new frontier of digital media. You'll be an 8 fig crypto artist in the near future. Let us know if you wanna come to Nashville to make some VR music videos just for fun.
Hey Thanks. Yes same I prefer to sketch everything first on paper. I also like to incorporate the sketches into the work too. I'd totally be down for that. If International borders ever open again 😅
@@jayman6608 There's a different range of AR platforms you can try out. Nowadays they do roughly the same things. Facebook has it's own platform called Spark AR and Snapchat has Lens Studio. Both of which I use depending on the project. There's Also Unity 3D but that requires a bit more set up
@@marc0matic Thank you for replying. I'm familiar with Facebook, and Instagram. Both of which are Facebook. My concerns with those are censorship. If I wanted to do this on my own would I have to set up A website for people to go to? Can it be set up in the cloud somehow? Is there someone I could talk to who would be willing to assist me in setting something like this up? Most of the artwork I'm going to use is family friendly, However some of it's going to be more risky. I have found a couple of places that offer the service, however they charge Pretty heavily. And then you only get a few years at best that your animation will work. I've looked into unity as well, However I'm not quite sure how you would distribute it among people, as it looks like it is mostly something you have to directly load onto a phone ,or device. I'm having a real hard time finding information on basically just sitting up an app ,or someone can click on it ,and view my art.
Marco, you just changed my life, i am beginner XR Artist but with lifetime love in drawings. Never pursue. Just recently. I have fantasy book where our emotions and feelings has own characters which i created to understand complexity of mindset and wellbeing in visual way as I am visual person. I would love to create engaging way to learn about mental heath for young generation but also for everyone who is interested in Fantasy world and is visual person. I just discovered how amazing this world of fantasy is and realized that I was hiding it as it wouldn't be accepted in my relationships. Now I am Single and feel amazingly grateful for all what artists like you have been already doing. You do such an amazing and wonderful art that you have my hugest respect. I just read a Quote on one billing during my scooter food delivery drives. It was very raining. Yea, Btw I quit corporate job 7months ago in my 38 to follow my love for art. The quote on the Old Building in rainy day was from Aristotle: "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." Excellence is your Habit. Thank you very much for all your sharing. I Believe it will change lives of many artists. I definitely know that there will be always one, me. Thank you Tomy
30 seconds into the first vdeo of your's ive seen and wondered if you were Aussie as it looks a lot like Flinders Street station on your head. Watched the rest and its obvious it was, love the art style well done.
your talent is on another level! metaverse is not that popular yet, i mean there's only few people can operate it but once its gonna be more advance your art is gonna blow up i can see it! you're amazing!🤩🚀💯
Thank you. Yes the metaverse space won't be consumed by all but it will certainly get bigger as younger generations continue to grow up with immersive tech
I love your work. Thank you for sharing your experiences and it was inspiring. You had me with your tarantula cat-walking the urban street piece 11:04.
Your work is inspirational. I have been playing with Gravity Sketch and Blender. Would you tell us more about the process that you used for the portal effect? I have been trying to get this working myself without success. I have been thinking that I need to use a mask some how. Am I on the right track?
Great to see you have been playing with those tools. The Mask effect is made possible using a custom shader which plays with Z depth. You can create a custom culling mask shader in whatever AR tool you prefer like Unity, Spark AR or Lens Studio
@@marc0matic thank you for your response this is very useful information. I will look into custom culling shaders. I have been using Blender to export gltf files to Adobe Aero but it looks like I need to expand my horizons. Thanks again!
Wait you did this a year ago!! Wow Smh lol you’re likely even better by now 😱🤯🤩😇🙏🏾 I just downloaded blender lol started watching tutorials the other day.. slow and steady lol I imagine I’m floating through the process holding onto an animation I have yet to create 🤣🤣 happy new year everyone what’s going on for February?
Thanks yeah about a year ago. Im sure you'll pick it up quick. Blender is great and super intuitive. And plays well with other 3d apps. Lots of projects coming up over the next few months so stay tuned
Legend! What an amazing interactive aesthetic. Thanks for sharing this content. Got to see some of these works and meet you at The Other Art Fair. Think you had car troubles coming over from Sydney. Hope to see you build the entire Decentraland world one day. That place needs a make over!
wow so cool. You are so talented and have inspired me with this video. What software do you use for Augmented reality and how do you export and import the textures/materials?
Amazing work! I am wondering how do you convert the 2D pictures to 3D model components at 9:16? I would like to draw all components first and then assemble them in Blender or Gravity Sketch, searched the web but unable to find the guide for it. If there is any step by step tutorial that I can be directed to that will also be great! Thanks!
Would this be saving as jpeg , converting to svg or ideally saving as svg if that’s an option then import into software like blender? Then do the side angle and construct a model based on tracing the vector? Or is that wrong? lol. Great question. Did you ever do that video by chance? I’d take a look to too.I m a drawing of shoes I designed that aren’t standard shape/material.. trying to figure that out
Your work is amazing. The workflow you have is the exact one I’ve been trying to perfect. I love working in Gravity Sketch but have been trying to figure out how to get the same shapes as the ones I created in Vr when I export to Blender. I saw you working on a big project in VR with lots of parts. Do you decimate and/or do the repotology on all of that stuff when you get it into Blender? Or maybe just the parts you want to animate? Gravity Sketch is still so new that it’s hard to find answers to this question.
Heya! So it's usually by a case by case basis. I generally try not to go over the top with polycount from the very start of creating something so i try to be aware of how high detailed my meshes are. I mostly work with box modeling techniques over subdiv sculpting just so there's less of a need to retopologise my models. Sometimes I'll decimate my geometry in Blender if I find the polycount is too high for deployment to AR.
Hey bro, I would love to learn how to do this. Where or how do i learn to bring my art to life? Im impressed with the deconstruction and reconstruction of your art pieces, as well as the tshirt/ and tags
Lately it's been on Instagram because it's easier to access and saves people from having to download another separate app. So it's interesting to see you can Create AR art and then feature it on your Effects Page via instagram
Hey thanks. It's a mixed bag and varies from project to project. Gravity Sketch & Blender are main 3d authoring tools. For AR I use either Spark AR, Adobe Aero, Lens Studio or Unity. Again it depends on what kind of project it is.
Hi Mark, very interesting and cool journey where you have leveraged emerging technologies with your art. Please can you point me in the right direction for my personal quest. I have a physical painting which I would like to maybe enhance a little but the main thing is to make the painting viewable in virtual/augmented reality from various angles. So i could upload it to a virtual home and see the painting on the wall. Can you please point me in the right direction so i can get it done. 🙏
Sure there's a few different paths you can go down. A lot of artists use Spark AR or Adobe Aero to bring their Art to life, they're generally easier to use than Unity and there's no real coding experience required. Think I should do a breakdown vid of each.
Thanks a lot Marc. I have contracted my wife to do some awesome paintings and I'm looking to digitally enhance them before minting them on NFT platform which launches in July from Htmlcoin. So I will explore the options you suggested. thanks again
Thanks for watching. I've been so slow to respond to all this as I hadn't take all of this seriously. I am working on some video content that will document my processes
Is it hard to get the work discovered and purchased? I’m afraid to put a lot of effort into my work and minting and then for it to never get purchased.
@@marc0matic Right, it would be very integrating, like different camera views bring its own vision to audiences. Probably someone might even snap the hand on the characters...Idk, I am just saying
@@marc0matic emmm, I am actually not sure I know this, but still imagining I am running around within the movie like the seeing what characters see, haha
Depending on the experience I use Spark (Meta) Lens Studio (Snapchat), Unity or Adobe Aero to bring them to life. Lately been playing with TikToks own AR platform Effect House and looks really promising.
What file format are you exporting these pieces into that attach to the NFT tokens? I'm still learning but it seemed like it was a limited number of options and I'm curious how you are adding such large works. Thanks!
Hey Sam. Depending on what I'm creating on what platform they have ranged from digital animated videos, 3d digital sculptures, high res print files, digital 3d avatar wearable itmes and even physical print editions.
For me I find it more advantageous because hand sculpting and modeling feels more intuitive and faster to modeling with a mouse or stylus. With Gravity Sketch I can rapidly create and iterate on my objects and scene. It's really each to their own and what they feel more comfortable with. Also, creating in sketch helps give me a sense of proportion and scale so everything is the right size for a VR or AR Experience
@@marc0matic awesome appreciate the feedback man! I'm barely at the beginning of learning 3d and drawing but I'm diving in full force so your work is an inspiration! Keep up the great work 🍻
Hi Mate! Awesome work! I run a AR/VR Studio, Novaworks. We are in this industry since 2008. Love to get in touch with you looking for some synnergy. I will Send a form in your site w/email. Best regards, again awesome art! Awesome processes!
Thanks for watching. Spark AR is one of the few apps I use. Depending on the Activation I also use Lens Studio or Unity. There are also heaps of others out there but those are my mains.
when I started doing AR back in 2017 I built my own AR app using Unity 3D. But nowadays there are a few free AR platforms that let you create AR content for free. Facebook has Spark AR and Snapchat has Lens Studio. Both are quite good if youre a beginner.
