Blake Jamieson, 36, is a portrait pop and NFT artist based in Brooklyn, NY. In 2020, he worked with Topps, redesigning 20 iconic baseball cards for their Project 2020 campaign. In 2021, Jamieson made $46,000 in 6 weeks selling his art as NFTs and doesn't show any signs of slowing down.
The market for NFTs, or nonfungible tokens, has exploded this year - and many creators have profited off of the hype.
Among them is Brooklyn artist Blake Jamieson, who has made over $46,000 within roughly six weeks, between the first day of February through to mid March, selling NFTs of his artwork on platforms like SuperRare and OpenSea.
"I firmly believe that I will be a millionaire in like eight weeks, just because I see the potential of the NFT stuff," Jamieson says. "I have a really big rolodex of pro-athlete clients and they're like beating down my door to do this stuff."
NFTs are unique digital assets, like jpegs and video clips, that are represented by code recorded on the blockchain, a decentralized digital ledger. Each NFT can be bought and sold, just like physical assets, but the blockchain allows for ownership and validity of each to be tracked.
Jamieson, a successful artist known for his vibrant paintings who has a clientele of professional athletes, including former NFL running back CJ Anderson, learned about NFTs from his friend, NFT artist and former MLB player Micah Johnson.

These news clips basically catch a few guys who made it big in the NFT domain and make a big deal out of it. It needs to be noted that most of these people were already famous in the art/design world, which is why their NFTs had value when they made the transition.

@who cares i can't tell if you're putting down other artists for finding a way to make money (even if less talented) or seeing an opportunity for yourself. If you're just salty then you should try to sell your art as well and see how well you can manifest profit in this new scene. A lot of it is networking and making your brand known, not just the artwork but the relationships people want to make with you by collecting your art

But then after it becomes more mainstream anyone can get into the space and monatize their creations. Blake Jamieson, and I were studio neighbors in 2019. Some of my art makes a brief cameo at 6:46 on his cabinet. Blake was supportive of me, and encouraged me to defy the starving artist mentality. He was very down to earth, but also hardworking. When I was at the studio he was almost always there working and would sometimes work so late he would sleep in his studio. He has a very workmanlike attitude towards art and is quick to assert that the art of making and the art of selling are interrelated. He's come a long way since I first met him and I suspect he will continue to gain traction as an artist and a businessman. To some people the content in his work might seem derivative of street art and pop art, but he has a legitimate passion for those genres and wears them on his sleeve, his influences are heartfelt, and he transforms his reference images to make them his own. I hope his critics take time to explore his body of work before speaking too soon. Much love, James Fisher-Smith

I know right! As a digital artist, I couldn't be any happier because, for the first time, NFTs allow digital artists to produce and release unique, and original pieces. That gives it value, the art can be sold, and more so artists can even benefit when pieces are re-sold later. I'm using HUP.LIFE and I like that I can mint my art and have it monetize.

not loaded, but lucky for sure. grandparents bought the house right out of high school (paid 37K if I recall correctly). So yeah, we ended up with a dope property with a barn and horses, but that doesn't immediately launch someone into success as an artist (who didnt go to art school either). So yes, my family has a lot of "money" in the family property, but we all gotta hustle to make things happen.

It’s funny I just watched this and I turned 30 and was feeling like I missed my calling with art/photography. I use to do it all the time and getting into “work mode” with trying to start a business etc via real estate, lost touch with it. I picked it back up a little bit since the pandemic and just get in a totally different world creating. I like real estate, don’t get me wrong, but if I could pick. @@leeche87 because there are people who are willing to buy the certificate of authenticity from you as well and for a higher price than what you bought it for. The original artist that sold the piece with the certificate of authenticity also get a percentage every time someone else’s sells the art

What process is he using at 3:50? Did he take that photo and put a filter on it? Is he layering stencils and then applying paint?

Stencil is designed in illustrator (from reference photo), then printed and hand cut stencil layers! It's not a filter, but def some graphic design before I print it.

It's a digital item, that is essentially verified to be "authentic" via a ledger that anyone can check. A piece of art usually that can't be duplicated or stolen on a digital level.

yeah granparents bought the property right out of high school for 37K (grandpa was a plumber, and thats what paid for the house). But the whole "they already had money" narrative is tired. I worked super hard to get where I'm at, and grateful that my family has been working super hard for generations!

I have a question I can not find answer anywhere. I would like to take a photo of my original painting and turn it into a Digital Jpeg file and sell it as a NFT, but also I would like to sell the original physical painting in other platform separately for example like my website or Etsy. From this video I understand that I can do that, but I am not sure how to state that in my NFT sale description. Do I need to state that the Nft is a art made both with Acrylic paint and Digital edit and that they are two separate works of art basically. How should I state that to make it clear to the buyer??? Please if anyone knows how this is done, let me know! Thank you
