Hear me out, power armor. Nothing is scarier then a 7-8ft tall soldier in full armor
@iainrickwood2623
@iainrickwood2623 Месяц назад
How does a normal person go to being 7-8ft tall just by wearing powered armour? Are they wearing powered high heels that add an extra couple of feet to their height? Or is the top of their helmet pointed like a 40k custodian which gets them to the 7-8ft height mark? Or do u mean a full on mechsuit like Iron Monger/Hulkbuster?

@@qhu3878 ok same thing applies right? Unless there's smth I'm missing about the fallout armour (I know the armour' S in the tv show but haven't watched it), the pilot steps into it from behind? Like their limbs are inside the limbs of the armour? It's not like Hulkbuster-esque mechsuit designs where the person's nestled somewhere up inside the machine and the whole thing's enormous. Do they say how tall Fallout powered armour is? Cos it cant be 7-8ft tall unless the soles of its feet are like a foot thick or the helmet is like a traffic cone Same thing with when ppl say Master Chief's armour gives him an extra 6 inches or a foot in height. Like really? How thick is the top of his helmet and the soles of his boots? Well I guess in his case he's already a giant so the height discrepancy is less egregious; who's gonna care if his boots and helmet are 3 inches thick

@@iainrickwood2623 power armour in fallout 4 and beyond (including the show) is a proper mechsuit and around 7 to 7 ½ feet tall, of course exact height varies from model to model but its still much larger than any operator inside of it

It sounds counterintuitive, but, at least in my deployment experience, people wear as little armor as they can get away with. Not only do people take it off the second (in vehicles, in towers, etc), but they also regularly just take plates out. If they think they can get away with no side plates, they do. I even knew a guy who replaced his chest plate with a tablet. Not even getting into how much troops complain about the armor, and how many have back and knee issues from it (myself included). It's just going from level 4 armor to level 3-but it helps morale, makes sure troops actually wear armor, and helps prevent some of the most common military injuries.
@DrygdorDradgvork
@DrygdorDradgvork Месяц назад
@@MarcusVanceagreed. It's all about finding a balance. Plus, until we figure out MJOLNIR armor or something similar, ballistic armor really doesn't cover that much, so its already just a little bit of a mental protection in some ways. Get a direct shot to the helmet by a rifle within 300 meters? Dead. Shot in the face from any distance? Probably dead. Bullet misses armor plate by half an inch vertically? Throat, spine, or clavicle shot, quite dead. Bullet misses tiny side plates? Very dead. Pelvic girdle? Wanting to be dead, then probably dead soon. Antimateriel round? Doesn't matter if the plate somehow catches it. Heart is ded, organs mush. I own both a soft level IIIA concealable armor vest and a pair of level IV ceramic plates. Pretty much only plan to wear the plates if I'm somehow forced to go door breaching for a couple hours lol. If a drone is about to drop a frag on me I'd be better off being more mobile.

I'd do some similar things but different 1: recruiting no longer exists, that money gets split, half goes to tech development the other half goes to basic training grounds 2: everybody directly after high-school goes to basic training for 8 months, basically a 13th grade, both girls and boys. This will not be considered a military force and these people will not go to war unless they decide to enlist after, we also won't have realy pissy drill Sargents. 3: pull all troops away from current war zones and redistribute them to countries that absolutely need protection as peace operations 4: create divisions of 10-12 people of the most skilled and smart people, they will carry out essential hits, mostly individuals in power who have great potential for harm 5: completely dismantle the police and replace them with small military forces that are overseen and run by a council of 12 people consisting of 3 military high up, 3 mental health experts, 3 linguistics experts, and 2 city workers like engineers, city planners, architects, and 1 biologist whos an expert in ecosystems. At least 25% must be in a minority population 5: cut at least 15% of the current military budget and redistribute through things like Healthcare, infrastructure and social areas like parks or event centers 6: while it has nothing to do with the military i will use the military to enforce monopoly laws, businesses can only have a set number of locations, profits can't be accumulated by underpaying lower employees and higher ups can't make more that 20% more than the least payed employee for the company (if the lowest payed employee is only making $20/hour then the highest payed employee is capped at $25 per hour including ceos) Sorry got alittle outside parameters at the end there 🤣 also i will use the military to take over the country and instead of a president we will appoint a council, council members can only serve a single term of 6 years and we will have 1 election every 6 months so we cycle through instead of replacing multiple people at one time. While they're expertise don't particularly matter like the military councils in each city there should be some basic parameters, at least 30% must be minorities and the balance of left and right politics should be balances at 50% also the 30% minority council members must also be evenly split between left and right so if we have 4 minorities on the council 2 should be left leaning 2 right leaning. I'm thinking we have 24 members in total but I think anything over 12 would be acceptable.

Unfortunately r&d is super expensive for the military. This is due to a lack of leverage in negotiations for contracts. When the Soviet union fell the MIC managed to scare congress that downsizing the military would lead to half of them going bankrupt and that they needed to be consolidated in order to survive. This means there are now only a few major players, who rarely compete even with each other. No competition, no leverage for contracting officers. No leverage, and companies can continually screw the DoD.

Necessity is the mother or invention. What I fear given the trend of how easy offensive weapons, with little technological improvement trump defensive systems which take much greater technological advancement, we'd see more AP rounds being used as standard issue. This is since it would be relatively cheap to do so and n would defeat the entire point of using cheaper armour. It justifies the slight additional spending if your enemy committed to a major defensive change and the logistics behind and supply requisition behind it. As for research, thats a black hole. You are researching things that doesn't exist so rhe cost will ALWAYS see overruns. The only way to streamline that to make it exponentially cheaper is pulling a China an reverse engineering existing advanced tech from your allies and or advasaries who already spent the time and billions. America as a superpower does not have this luxury. All the canceled research is always reused. A conceptual example is not having the tech required to make a working railgun and congress no longer wanting to sink money into it. However the energy storage and linkage tech is then used for a directed energy weapons platform whose components were already tested on platforms (eg railgun test on a destroyer). This speeds up r n d for a different and other subsequent projects or previous projects now having the tech they didn't 20 years ago which again congress didn't want to spend that money then; but now via diff research the tech can be appropriated. Thinking in game terms you spent on R&D, stopped researching tech B due to lack of or diverting funds, but the research points (nascent and niche tech and their applications) could be used to finish researching tech A or start researching tech C.

Also an economy needs cash flow in the form of initial investment from lowly peons like myself having enough spare money to be able to buy things beyond the bare necessities to keep myself alive. And if you’re poor enough you aren’t even paying taxes. The state gives you a tax return annually. But if the social services are adequate and there are few or no people living at or below subsistence level, then you have more people paying taxes and investing in things. Which between that and taxing the wealthy and big businesses, we’d have enough budget to turn the moon into the successor to the AC130 and then some

Well guy (knife hand) you're wrong. For one, the reason we dont use plastic kevlar composite plates is that after significant testing of ceramic kevlar composite with a steel core vs the layered plastic composite plates is that the plastic plates don't disperse the force of bullets as much as the ceramic with steel core. Plus, the plastic plates needed are thicker than the steel core plates and more prone to warping and softening in high heat environments like the middle east. So you are wrong. Second, the reason we target anime conventions and nerds/geeks is that most warfare is now done by drones and virtual interfacing of robots. And we are currently trying to bolster our ranks with people that are more prone to being able to handle that lvl of sophisticated combat. And if you want the military to spend more on R&D get the democrats out of the Whitehouse. They don't spend money on the military. They spend money on personal program interests and line thier pockets. We also have a MAJORITY of the weapons tech you are talking about the problem is that most of them are warcrimes and break about 3-5 accords in the geneva convention. So most of them are in lock up like the stark tech from Spider-Man. If it wasn't for democrats defunding NASA we would probably have regular combat capable space craft by this point or something close to Nightcity in 2023 from the intro scene of Johny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077. Democrats hate the military because it means having to shell out more money to vets and needing to spend money on illegal programs(theatfcough) to keep the public uninformed about thier rights and to own/bear arms. Thats why we dont use plastic, it melts in high heat and doesnt absorb bullet impacts when hot and melty. And the democrats dont want to spend money on the military because they fear us and an armed public.
