Finding inspiration to make something that doesn't already exist is the hardest step for me. There are so many patterns out there.

this is definitely the hardest part. it feels like everything has been done already 😅 even when i think i’ve had an original idea, i end up finding something similar already on etsy

Same! I made a bee pattern of ribblr and at the time I actually didn't know about decrease, so I just instructed to 'single crochet into every other stitch until it closes' 😂😆
