Pro tip: Do some gesture drawing (yoga poses are most fun) then have the flour sack imitating the pose. Not only is it useful to figure out how to flour sack, but it looks heckin cute.
I agree with this in fact it's just become how i do gesture i get the line of action and what not and just have the flour sack do the pose with-in and it's been the only way I've actually enjoyed gesture drawing in any way

I'm also trying to draw on my own. The thing is... I've been watching videos for people who already have some experience on drawing. So I was like "Ok I know how to build structure (sort of)... What now?" Then I'd draw blocks , stickfigures etc , and don't know what to do next. But thanks God I found these series cause they really are useful as freak. I can say they make me actually UNDERSTAND what I'm doing instead of just guessing stuff hoping it comes out "Ok".

I appreciate this. I used to be really gpod at art, but over time I grew stray from art. Depression held me away from the things I loved. However, now that im growing with mental health, I finally want to draw again! Thanks these videos are helping...I think...I HOPE.

The best part about these tutorials is that there's a gap between each upload, meaning you can get lots of practice of one component before moving onto the next! ^^
Thank you, this is very helpful. I've seen similar information elsewhere (Proko's bean videos), but I think a sack of flour is a better way of thinking about it - the nubs help put gesture, character and a sense of story into it. It's not just a bean floating in space.
Thanks! I prefer the flour sack as well, I decided to show both techniques since people seem to take to either one or the other - whichever works best for them. :)
MissKerrieJ are u going to do method of using rectangular parallelepiped(lol wut) for drawing human in perspective? I have seen that method and it works nice with drawing dynamic poses)
Initialy studying human anatomy may appear very difficult. It's true that it is not simple and your studies wont alter that. As for being overwhelming, that can be eleviated if you take your study one step at a time. I discovered an article on Sebs Study Crammer very useful for this.
WHY IS THIS WORKING FOR ME!!!!!!!! look, up until now (watching and applying this video) I could NEVER draw a dynamic torso, just applying this once and already I made a much more dynamic torso, hope you come back to your channel, you really helped a lot of people

This whole series is a spectacular revelation! I've just started learning to animate. My drawing style is very cartoony but I didn't have the skill or knowhow to map that style around dynamic motion. You've delivered that to me, thanks!
literally I procrastinate over doing any sort of human anatomy, but i need to learn for my course, for young talented artists, so just by spending an hour into your videos and I'm already learning more than I have my whole life! so thank you sm!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What I’ve been doing while watching these videos is after each one I’ve been drawing a character and applying the things in each video really helps since it’s fun and I get to practice clothing and stuff too :D
Huh. Never heard of that floursack technique before. Is it mostly only animating classes? Anyway, this was really helpful, I might do that assignment. Do limbs next :D I'll see if i can do the tag on instagram.
I had heard about the technique before I started school, but that was through research of my own. The only place it was taught to me was animation classes in college, where it's a pretty standard teaching tool. Good luck with the assignment! :)
Hello! I just subscribed a few hours ago, and I improved so much already (thank you). I am trying to learn how to do digital art, and I found a few videos of yours. I was kinda hoping you could make a series of how to draw digital art including materials and programs.

Very interesting. Instead of homework you could have said 100 sack challenge. ....or just challenge, heh. Also a tip for eager people, look up a gesture drawing website and do 30 second poses and focus on the line of action and sack building, which can help you to draw gestures by building out of sack instead of trying copy weird shapes and proportions. Okay so since i kinda am formiliar with most tactics so far (animator myself here to) I kinda watched all the videos until here so far. And though I'm animating for 4 or 5 years now nobody ever! Ever!!! Taught me the flowersack. And I'm in love with it. I think I can fill a sketchbook just with these flowersacks!
I've watched most of these and I always think: "What about men bodies?" I think these are really good explanations but I really wish there were tutorials on the man body.
Yh, just change the size of the circles and connect them. Like, for dudes, make the top circle bigger than the smaller one and for girls, do the exact opposite.

if you have difficulty drawing the flour sack/pillow try and 1. draw two circles 2. draw two triangles, one triange pointing upwards and on the upper circle, a triangle pointing downwards 3. connect the triangles you got it now make the triangles more fluid like
Tip for drawling circles: *Go over your paper(don’t draw!)In circular motions. Then go downer and downer till you reach the paper keep doing the circular motion.* And there you go! I learned this from RU-vid.

Thank you, this has been very helpful. I was familiar with the bean but the flour sack seems more animated and has more volume. My beans usually ended up making my torso too thin, plus the trouble with connecting shoulder and legs. It's ok for women but with men the flour sack looks better. Looking forward to the next part. I'd love to see how to connect not just limbs but also the head. I'm not sure why my head always feels weird and out of proportion when I connect it to torso. Though generally keeping limbs in proportion to the torso and to each other is tricky for me. :D
