honestly, i feel like your video quality is up there. sure, it’s not like a mini movie like other creators. but your videos feel like home on youtube. i watch your videos when cleaning or getting ready or cooking and it feels like two girls hanging out. your content is very relatable, what you share i can apply to my own life. i’m thankful for your long format videos. and for the record, i definitely replay your old vlogs, best background noise while cleaning!

I go back and rewatch declutter videos specifically- they are often my background noise whilst I clean. I absolutely understand why people quit content creation altogether considering the ramifications it must have on one's mental health- especially if they lack boundaries. I will say I always admire the folks who are consistent and don't let the trolls of the world hiding behind their screens deter them. It can be super discouraging to continue when it feels like you aren't being received well, but I love that people's passion persists beyond that.

I've definitely noticed a lot more of the content creators that I watched regularly disappear from RU-vid completely but lately I am noticing after an extended break, many are slowly coming back and I feel like the pandemic as well as social media trends have dictated some of this. I am so happy and excited when they make a return because it feels like they're a part of your life and it's like catching up with a friend. That's why I love your content because it's like catching up with a friend and your content is a nice mix which is always so fun and upbeat.

I was devastated when I saw Natasha decide to quit RU-vid. I also nodded in an agreement with you when you talked about watching Esteés videos (especially the makeup collection ones) they were my comfort videos too. RU-vid has changed a lot and I miss the style of content created by RU-vidrs back in the day. I think more than the video content, I like hearing your thoughts and takes on life, products, travel etc. I do rewatch some videos or save others that had information or a message I loved. Videos like yours feel like I'm face timing a friend while getting ready and it's so nice

In terms of beauty and fashion video content, at least in my own case, I primarily watch the latest videos and don't go back to older content because old videos demonstrate products that are no longer available or techniques that are no longer trending. In cases of content creators that produce material that is timeless (cooking, gardening...) I often go deeper (farther back in time) into their cannon of content. We love you, Allana. I do rewatch RU-vid vlogs very often 😂 especially those from Allegra and back then heyclair ! Her return to RU-vid is one of the best news ever !! I’m a huge RU-vid lover and have been watching some creators consistently since 2007-2009. It’s crazy to think about growing with someone and their community for that long. I definitely respect people who realize when it’s their time to step away, not everything is meant to be forever and everyone has their time but man I’m so glad to many of my favorite og RU-vidrs are still around. I’m always proud of you guys for doing those big pushes like EDM and Lanmas and then taking breaks for yourself. It’s so important not to burn out. Especially since Instagram and TikTok are so fast-paced, after an hour of scrolling, you lose track of what you've seen. I never looked at it from your perspective, but I'm the kind of person who enjoys watching your videos from two years ago. Honestly I would want you to be happy and thriving always ( and if that means you quitting RU-vid than I would support you in whatever endeavors you'd want to take on) but if you ever leave RU-vid the time I spend here will significantly decrease and I'd regret it. With the movie thing, I wonder if it’s because the actors/actresses are playing a character whereas RU-vid videos are real people in real time. *deep thoughts* I love your videos because it feels like listening to a friend. I watch them while cooking, getting ready, cleaning, etc. and it’s so relaxing. You bring people lots of joy!
I also rewatch your video's, sometimes if there is not a new video up I go and rewatch old ones. Also I watch a lot of old ones with certain make-up products in them, if I want some inspo on how to use them I go and search for your video's with the Patrick Ta eye palette etc. Also one fall / late summer 22 make-up look has been my go to daily make-up look ever since I watched that video.

I don’t have TikTok and I rarely ever open IG anymore. Haven’t really been enjoying IG for years. RU-vid is my happy place. I love the randomness bumping up against the comfort favourite regulars. I’ve seen RU-vidrs come and go and I was never really upset when someone left. And I’m not *upset* about Natacha leaving, i’m happy that she’s going on to pursue other things, but man, I totally cried. She and Mario were just this spark of pure joy and it felt like the biggest treat when she would upload a new video after a long break. But I will say … I agree with your observation about how little we tend to revisit RU-vid content yet Natacha’s videos are comfort viewing for me. Hers are the only ones I do, regularly, go back and re watch. Just for the encouragement to keep at it when I’m all out of motivation and discipline has failed me. The information is invaluable. She’s one of the few influencers I can say actually changed my life. 😔. I hope she’ll pop back in some day and give us an update, but … whatever will be will be. I think we all like the “lower quality” quantity of the day to day because it is likewise comforting. I think of it like how when we were kids, we just followed our parents around and watched them and they weren’t doing anything dazzling, you know? They were just doing the stuff that makes a life. Remember watching your Mom or older sister getting ready in the morning? I do, and I think RU-vid vlogs give us that feeling.
I actually love RU-vid, always have and always will. It’s my favorite platform to watch content to this day and it’s my life long dream to do RU-vid. So I decided to give it a shot once again because I genuinely feel that it’s making a comeback and I have to say, part of me making the decision to start again, after many years of not uploading anything, it’s thanks to you, I really admire you and your authenticity and I relate to you in that way, thank you for being an inspiration. I have recently found myself rewatching old RU-vid content more than watching new stuff! Particularly creators who are less active/gone - Glam & Gore, Jenna Marbles, etc - and have found they have the same effect as a comfort TV show. Predictable, happy and easy to pick up!
For me my comfort RU-vidr is LeighAnn … I watched her vlogs for years and I often go back and rewatch.. I love her and I’m so proud of her journey and everything she had to deal with it ..
97 degrees every single day this week where we live in The U.S. Our pool is 92 degrees!!! It's like luke warm bath water, but owwww the night swims with the hubby makes up for the insane heat. I cannot even imagine at this point having the heater on in any of our vehicles.
What you're saying about movies vs. youtube makes sense to me because youtube has morphed into a form of social media so the primary purpose is often a sense of relational connection (hence wanting real time content) whereas the primary purpose of a film or movie seems to be more about art or entertainment (not that youtube can't be entertaining art also). I think that's also maybe why it "feels like a breakup" when someone leaves youtube because there was a sense you were connecting not just sitting back and watching their art...
Oh my goodness, gracious, Lan. I only watch a handful of RU-vid creators, and you are by far my favorite and always will be. To be honest, I'm not a fan of the "shorts." I love a good longer vlog like yours. That's what tickles my fancy 😊. As far as jewelry goes, I always wear my watch, rings, and bracelets/bangles. I still sport my gold paperclip 📎 necklace. I also wear a thinner braded gold chain that's shorter, too. I love my pearl necklace along with my other dainty gold chain that I switch up with different charms (like a pearl, cross, etc). I just rotate them based on what I'm wearing. Sometimes, I'll pair a couple together. I also love to switch it up sometimes with my gold silver necklaces, but I still enjoy my longer pieces (depending on what I'm wearing). I'm glad you're feeling better! Xoxoxo ✨️ 🤗
For what its worth, i do re-watch quite a few favorited YT videos over, and over (and over) again. I actually enjoy daily routine type videos, and personally speaking i dont mind the repetitiveness(?). The way i see it- i have a regular daily/weekly/monthly routine, so i perceive the repetition in vlogs as transparency/authenticity, instead of a turn-off.
