How I filmed the 2023 Annular Ring of Fire Solar Eclipse 

This is from October damn! I thought this was the one which happened yesterday. But bro this is amazing.

@4:05 Great video! I have some advice for your next attempt, that I learned while photographing the same eclipse. Instead of buying a viewing safe OD 5.0 (15.5 stop) solar filter, you should buy some baader planetarium astrosolar PHOTO film OD 3.8 (12.5 stops) . It is NOT viewing safe but it is safe for the camera. You can not look through the optical viewfinder but you can use liveview. It blocks 3 stops less light, so you can use much faster shutter speeds (or less ISO in your case). My normal OD 5.0 (15.5 stop) solar filter blocked so much light I had to bump the ISO up to 640 just to get 1/10-1/50th of a second shutter speeds during the eclipse. With the OD 3.8 film my shutter speed was 1/6400th of a second, F13, ISO 100. I shot it handheld and got tack sharp images. This solar film will let you shoot at ISO 100 instead of 12800 and you should get even better quality images/video.

Those were some spectacular shots! Your video was great too. I can't wait to make it out to Moab! One thing I think I may have done when editing your video is make the first 3 seconds of your video quickly move between a few of those shots you had from the eclipse to pull the viewer in. Then cut to black and fade into one of the drone shots. I hope this didn't come off as an as*hole.
