I feel ya!!! I have two separate accounts. one with 100 followers but not very many comments, I have one with 3 followers and my post got 3 comments, even if one was a meme, it made me much happier. lol
On RU-vid I've noticed that most channels have to have corporate backup to get a lot of views. If you have a small channel, you won't be noticed. Any time you go to the youtube front page, you will notice that all the videos you see have 100,000+ views. You won't see any videos that have 100 subs and 25 views.
What's good about this is that he doesn't stick his face in the camera and blab at you the whole time. He shows a lot of interesting visual material that helps to illustrate what he's saying.
I run about 5 other platforms on Insta and Tiktok, so not all of my results are JUST from SS. I'll probably be sharing more stats from other platforms outside of the art niche if I do more of these growth style videos
i have no idea how to make engaging content, i can never think of new and interesting ideas and its really annoying and its what fails me as an artist, i have no idea how to make content people care about. can someone help? lol
I have to mention though i dont think tiktok is a potential possibility to go "viral" if you arent in america. I live in Latam and ive never seen a tiktok with anything higher than 100k likes, i even barely see that, most "viral" tiktoks ive seen are 10k likes (and its usually a girl shaking her ass lol). If you're in Latam too then your video will only be shared to everyone else in Latam. Just wanted to put that out there because no one seems to realize tiktok is kind of regionally restricting (unless you specifically follow people from that region, then more of that content will appear on your page)
Let me start with this video is good. The series itself is helpful and I'm learning. Thank you. A good way to make me happy with the video is not put ads in the middle of a sentence. During transactions is fine. Middle of a sentence is not. Like at 17:06 when was cut out nowhere, during a important sentence. A good exemple, is Matt McMuscles. He has a little transaction when a ad is about to show. Very considerate.
Unfortunately, the real issue is that when these types of videos come out, they get clicks and they get people to watch the entire video, because all artists online are trying desperately to figure out how to actually make money, but these videos don't actually tell you what to do. They talk about idealism, and link you to their products or teaching videos (also real easy to buy), which makes these videos just a large advertisement.
What I find most hilarious is "how to gain following as a DIGITAL ARTIST". His answer: "make videos and post them to video platforms". Bitch. I wanna be an artist. Not a youtuber xD
@@dailygod1153 well yeah, but some people want to focus on making digital art, not videos. It's not that there isn't video content to be made for artists, it's that some just don't want to do that content...
True work hard but remember to listen to your body. If you near burn out your body will tell you. Memorise and never forget that feeling. Not necessarily, to grow on social media sure but studios are always in look for new 2d or 3d artists. It can also be as simple as reaching to an arist you like music video director and ask for a gig. Most people get locked in the box of just making art but forget to network and thats why it becomes hard :p

surprised that people are saying that this video doesn't teach you anything, i agree with a lot of the points in this video-there isn't a concrete 'checklist' for the things you need to do in order to grow. making content on youtube is really hard and for a long time i thought that posting videos on a specific time, using a lot of irrelevant tags, and improving my SEO would help me. sure, these may help, but ultimately it's your brand that makes people stay i've never seen a channel that relates art to business like this before, great job! :)
I think people can get upset when they don't have their own beliefs validated when they watch these type of videos. Lots of people watch these videos to try and find a quick answer and get very bitter when they're told its going to be a lot of hard work, and you can't just be an artist. The irony is people make comments like 'they just want to make art, not become a marketer' but - they clicked on a video titled 'how to gain 1000 followers a day' so they clearly have some level of interests in the first place - they're just upset no one is spoon feeding them the answer to their issues. Glad you found some value to the video though :D
At the beginning you said posting for weeks or months and not gaining traction... that hurt me man. How about 3 years and not gaining any traction? It cut deep. Think big. You can do it. I've been trying to build a community focused on helping artists connect and collaborate on projects, the idea is that users can assign themselves roles, like artist, voice actor, director, writer, etc. And various genres that they're interested in, in order to find the people that they want to work with and create with. I know I'm still far from making that a reality. But it's GOING to happen. I think the kind of mindset people need to stay motivated. The hope that their dream will come true, and the faith that it's going to. So keep your head up, soldier! Because, I have a feeling that business of yours isn't going to be small for much longer. :)

I wanna be an artist, I dont want to be the next michelangelo. I dont wanna unite people behind an idea. I wanna put my own stories out there to share with as many people as it can reach. Thats my goal and also the goal of many artists. So far you are giving us "suggestions" on what non-artists can do to get bigger reach by changing to become influencers. A resounding "F that" to that
This just feels like an advert for your channel, with some basic common sense knowledge sprinkled into the video for watch-time. It seems like you're pumping out low effort content in order to get more eyes on your actual business, using scammy terms like "passive income" and unrealistic promises to get attention, while the actual quality of the content is totally neglected so long as more people are buying your course.
legit got shadow banned this morning and watched my analytics drop like a rock. I think the biggest issue with social media is that unless you're already popular, it's almost impossible to get any eyes on your content. Getting 0 views, 0 likes, 0 retweets, you'll quickly get buried in latest search results. Whether you're posting quality content, engaging content, or consistent content, the result is generally the same. It's easy to get depressed and give up, and lose the joy of art in the process, when the entire system is stacked against you.
There are other ways to get eyes on your work. Sometimes commenting and interacting with an artist that you admire is helpful. You should try commenting on one of your favorite artist's posts, especially if they engage with you. I don't know how may times I've looked at a profile of someone that commented something interesting on a post of an artist that I follow and ended up following that person if I liked their stuff. this works best for Instagram. But most of all you should have your profile and posts set up so that they look solid. Often times when I go down a rabbit hole of looking at someone like I described I'll see that they have only a handful of posts or their posts don't look very refined that doesn't mean the art I mean the post itself, like they photographed something and the lighting was bad or they didn't color correct, crop, or clean up their art before posting. Also, make sure your thumbnail looks good, preferably a clear image of your art.
@@duvalkMAS Agree. I have lots of success with gaining attention by engaging with artists around the same size as me. You have to support your fellow artists if you want them to support you back. Same thing with just regular folks that like your art regularly. Acknowledge them in some way and thank them for the support-even if its just in a story post. People like being appreciated and it will encourage them to continue to like and comment if they feel noticed. To add something else I've also noticed is that people like eye catching stuff. Black and white stuff does better if you have good line art with bold lines and good detail, But most of the time-the most popular stuff is colorful or has pops of color. I See a lot of people who do do traditional drawing will add pops of color somewhere to draw the eye For example, one person I follow draws in pencil. They often put color accents around their background, such a simple pink square. Or they'll add it to their accessories. Or, if something is NSFW, they'll use a pink shape to censor it. The color isn't on every post, but you can definitely see a trend of those sorts of posts getting more traction. They utilize a lot of what @duvalkMAS said about having a solid and consistent profile. Their art is clean and they have that consistent look to it. Everything has the same lighting, sketch lines are cleaned up, and it looks refined and consistent from afar. This is something I myself need to work on, but its easy to see how much better these well-off profiles look in comparison to mine with miss-matched lighting and a variety of styles. My profile is just for fun, but I've managed to get a small following just by engaging with my audience and making my art a little more eye catching. Sorry this is long, but hope this helps out any future readers! There's lots of good advice in these comments. Keep practicing, even new artists can do well with a good profile!
Don’t put all your eggs in one basket. As an artist you have tons of sites and apps to post your art. Don’t focus on just one app when posting, I made that mistake a while back and it hurts a lot when a post does terribly
Super interesting! Thanks for pointing out that staying close to one platform is best, because most other info videos just say "spread as wide as possible" but you are right, every platform is different and just copy and paste wont work at all!
When I started my first brand I was on twitter, instagram, youtube, pinterest - EVERYTHING. And I ended up really regretting it, as I never really grew on any platform, I was spread out way too thin. Master 1-2 platforms first and then branch out if you feel like you have the time. Every new platform you add will add a lot of time and stress.
It's not uncommon to see industry veterans with almost no online presence. Or people with 100k+ followers that struggle to make a ends meet. If you're desperate for followers in the short term you're probably failing to ask yourself how you ACTUALLY plan on making a living. Sure its fun getting likes and seeing your follower count tick up, but how are you going to actually put food on the table for yourself. One of the best pieces of advice I got while I was at school was "likes don't keep your house warm or feed your family". It made me not care about the little numbers at the top of my profiles and actually start thinking about where I want to be in 10+ years. Be consistent. Admit to your weaknesses. Improve. Acknowledge how far you've come and how much further you have to go. Take breaks if you need to. But don't give up

@@disaster4550 Even starting entrepeneurs have to know how marketing works. The fact you think only popular people need it is wrong. If you want to be, idk, an Instagram artist, you can use marketing techniques to increase your following: market research is probably the most important one: what do other artists often do? what kind of content do they like? check your instagram hashtags and use them wisely, if you use hashtags that are too general (example #anime) you'll compete with artists that have a huge following and will never stand out. You often have to use less popular hashtags where you have less competition. What's trending, what do people like? What kind of colors, style and work gets you more likes? What time should you post your stuff according to your follower's actvities? These are decisions that have everything to do with marketing and the fact many artists think being famous just implies posting art and nothing more is what makes them fail. Big artists many times started with fanart of trending characters or series, or following a very particular style that pretty much is attached to their brand as an artist. You need to offer value to the people who follow you, because consumers and followers don't care about your story if you don't care about them first. Hope this was useful to you. I repeat: you don't need to have a huge following to start doing marketing. This is a misconception and it seems you're simply trying to stay in your comfort zone.
Well I think you have to figure out how this information is useful for your goals. I mean, if what you're doing right now isn't giving you success, he suggested several things that MIGHT help, it isn't guaranteed, but it might be better than doing nothing.
look at what the artists with big followings are posting… read their comments and see what people like/dislike… you can post videos of the process as well it doesn’t have to be finished art. maybe even random sketches/practice stuff. 5 minute art challenges. trying out different art styles/mediums.

All jokes aside, this has been a great series and it's it made me subscribe to you, so I'm definitely gonna watch the video again and make notes this time because this series of videos is exactly what I need as I try to build up my empire (after failing MANY TIMES) So thanks!
If you've failed many times, that just gives you a massive advantage over everyone else who is just starting for the first time, don't forget that! Every time you fail you're going to learn a valuable lesson that only a small amount of people have learnt :)
I do not believe this channel is authentic enough. You use stock video which has given me a headache because nothing is actually connected to you. And everything you said has been said in every video about passive income. Now you could look at your bank account and think I'm wrong, or you could look at your bank account and think how much MORE you're missing out on if you were to act more authentic. Not mad, I just see alot of potential here so it's a shame to walk away with a headache.
1:32 - That's easy. Buying subs clearly. That's not an accusation towards you, but I don't buy anyone that starts from scratch on RU-vid these days and grows to 50k within a few months ever did it legit. No effing way. I've been here for 15-16 years, and I've only reached 1.12k subs. If reality was in anyway fair, I'd have at least 10k by now, but it isn't because I have been doing things, my way, all this time.
But how to make quality content consistently? It seems like you can have quality but you won’t be consistent. Or consistency but you won’t have quality. I have no time in my day so my RU-vid channel really suffers due to the time I spend trying to make actual quality.
consistency doesn't mean you have to post each 3 days, you mark your own rhythm. You can post each 15 days for example, and be consistent if you don't miss an update. RU-vid is specially permissive with "long" rest periods, if you come back with a GOOD video.
This is impossible, I’m a Senior 3D Character Artist and making a high resolution character takes several months to make, no way to post daily unless I post wips. Will make it into a tutorial as a test.
It's sadder still because this video suggests if you upload 10 pieces of content and get 10 followers that's a fine amount. He recommends content batching about 30 pieces of content a month, 10 in each pillar, that's 30 followers a month. Blows because if it takes you 5 hours to finish a piece you're looking at investing 150 hours of work for 30 followers a month, I don't know how actionable that advice is.

I subbed to you right on time. Launching a product and wanting to know how to grow. Pretty incredible. I believe you are the only artist I have seen that is really transparent with their social media strategy and business mindset, while other artists usually pose as happy friends who dont actually spend time strategizing, some all artists should do so we can cut ties with companies that abuse us.
In terms of the whole point of the start of the video, yknow the whole make something worth following thing. As an artist if what you’re trying to do is splash art and character design, a good thing to do to practice is quick sketch sessions. There are pose generators online that will give you a new pose every say 10 minutes for example, this means you can draw the human body 6 times in an hour, shorten that and now it’s 12 in an hour. All those drawings add up and lead to progress. If you’re a landscape artist and want something similar idk anything about that but if any one finds anything please notify me I’d love to use it myself 🙏

I'm gonna put my insights here, probably buried in a comment section, but! To be a successful artist, I feel like you gotta "be" an artist. And not just like be creative in your art, but leverage your creativity to solving those problems too. Art is so much about communication, through what you create, and if you can create things that resonate with people, you're half way there. Creating videos, creating a hit series, creating a masterful book, create creative ways to get your name out there. Think of these great artists out there who do things that catch attention. How do they identify those things to do? It's all about the people who see it. The challenge is getting there. Mastering your craft, and putting yourself out there. Because there are opportunities out there. You just gotta work hard to be able to do what they require of you. I've failed many artistic endeavours, but I've also kept trying and kept learning, and each time I get a little further. Don't waste time. The secret sauce is your art ^^
I really loved the first part of the series, but I find this chapter pretty discouraging. There are too many abstract concepts at play. "Create exciting content" sounds nice, but what does that mean really? Also, by the end, this made your path to success for artists seem like it just boils down to micro-managing multiple social media presences. It gave me anxiety just thinking about it. It honestly just made me feel that even though I have information and skill to offer, if I'm not a data analyst or an influencer I should just give up. Maybe that's true, but it I don't think it's your goal as an educator. "Anyone can do this... as long as they are extroverts who know how to analyze and exploit ever changing social media trends."
What's also an issue is the TYPE of followers you're getting.If you want to sell commercial art online you need a popular( by formula) product(s) and an audience who are inclined to buy that product.If you are trying to make your art famous online and worth money to collectors/investors you need an art world audience.

Hello! Does anyone has tips for artsy Discord servers? Is it worth it to separate the content in different platforms (for example only-reel-Instagram and only-finished-artwork twitter) or just concentrate in a single one?
Great insides you have here! Creating "good content" is still a mystery to me. It really bugs me on the content side of instagram, times and times I have seen a lot of great art works yet they don't have much followers, and anyone would agree their "content"/artworks are better than some of the big accounts with over 10-50ks followers. Makes me wonder if on Instagram "good content" doesn't necessarily means good art in terms of skills and quality sometimes? And I notice accounts with repetitive images sometimes gained more followers, but as artists we want to grow, and avoid staying in the comfort zone, or creating art for follower's sake. But then creating art in of itself is time consuming especially we want to pursue a certain quality, not just quantity. All of these factors are very frustrating for many artist. It might have something to do with having a center idea behind all the art we posts? Or some sort of them? I'm curious what's your thoughts and experience on this part.
DO NOT do this. Especially 'hoping your content appeals to the audience'. If you don't know how to use ad targeting then you are literally throwing your money away. Algorithms exist to help you get your work out there, paying for ads without learning anything about them will leave you in a worse position than you started. So you pay for a few ads and get a few views...so what? You're still in the same position as before, where you don't know anything about growing an audience or keeping your audience engaged. There are a thousand things you need to take care of before even thinking about running any sort of ad. I've built every single one of my platforms without a single ad, and I don't know many creators at all that are running them, especially for growth. The only people successfully running ads are people who are VERY well established, and are looking to expand their reach because they have a product that is already doing well.
@@StylizedStation I agree with your points, however I don't believe anyone can start day one obtaining 1000 followers a day. The whole point of advertising is to reach a wider audience much faster. It's there simply to accelerate what would otherwise take months or years. If your content is relevant to the viewer you'd naturally retain viewers while generating new ones much faster than relying on an algorithm that will either work for or against you. Obviously if you're not producing expected results, your content isn't up to the viewers expectation. Making a RU-vid video is the same as creating a product. Your expecting to generate some form of income through some form of monetization whether it be through Patreon, RU-vid or some other method much like the videos you make on your channel. I added the word "hope" because with everything there's the factor of luck. It will either hit or miss. If it hits, you're doing something right. If it's the alternative, change your methods and repeat until you find some success. Again, advertising is simply there to accelerate the process. You have more certainty over how many people you reach. For example, if you advertised on Facebook like many do you can determine how many people will actually engage with your content. It's less depressing than seeing only one or two views after a span of a half year. In regards to knowing your audience and keeping them engaged, that's just market research. You do the research, then advertise after you finish your video/product. If you're an individual hoping to make some monetary gain it would go a long way to treat your activity as a business.

I'm planning to start my art channel (and more specifically my "game dev" channel starting with and focusing on the art part) and this question is in my mind for a while...
There are different Videos in this topic, many people just stay with their name and make their thumbnails in a way so that the topic of the Video/Channel is clear. If in doubt, you could also make it Double: your Name - topic.
I think it depends of our names and our competition. If I have a common name, like Mary Smith, I'd prefer a more original/remarkable nick LOL Also if I'm gonna draw, for example, just russian architecture, I think is a nice idea using some russian-like words on the nick (real words or just similar sounds).

I think most digital artists these days tend to march in a line like desperate zombies. I immediately lose interest when I see there's zero originality and everything I'm shown is like an average of 5 latest movies and trendy games. Why would I follow a clone?
