Being able to showcase other footage that didn't make the "final" delivery is great, sometimes we still have gems in what we capture but they get stored away in our hard drives :(
christ. that was so dope. as a beginner editor, and looking at this, its kinda hard to no compare myself. but i will not stop until a reach that level of expertise with filmmalking and editing. thx for the inspiration. shout out from brazil :D
Aye that’s a genius idea! I’ve done that once, going back to old footage and honestly it was a lot of fun and the story comes across different than I probably originally wanted to tell it! Dang bro now you got my wheels spinning and wanting to go through my hard drives hahah! Dope video 👌🏾
Great reminder! I NEED to do this more often. Question though, do you share any of your director's cuts when technically it's the clients footage? Do you ever share with them?
Do it!! Yes however, t's always important to obtain client permission to utilize the footage. I more often than not DO share the director's cut with the client. In most cases they're hyped on it and would reshare if they can!
Can you share your approach to using music from SoundCloud? Are you just reaching out to the artist and licensing directly, or is there a different approach?
By going the extra mile, does that include NOT paying your crew? You have all this extravagant portfolio, top of the line gear, numerous laborers... yet you don't pay your crew.
Not sure what previous projects you're referring to! I pay everyone to the best of my ability no matter the project. If someone chooses to donate time to something I'm working on, I always go out of my way to return the favor. Sounds like you may have had a bad experience. I'm sorry about that!
