You gave a great brief with a logical organic approach, that's what I like the most. Also, I want to add to what you said about Instagram hangtags; it actually lowers your reach it doesn't just cap it.
Hashtags won't help with reach in the algorithm. But it's wrong to say it won't help at all. When people wanna look for specific topics, they search by hashtags, and there they can find you. So you should at least use some generic hashtags about the niche and your skills in case someone wants to find you and who knows, maybe you'll get a job offer.
Great tips!! I’m not a 3D artist, but I gotta admit that the “not using hashtags” thing makes me a bit nervous because I already have very little reach on IG. But I have thinking of giving it a shot just to experiment! 👀
Thanks for sharing this, totally agree on not showing the final result until the end, it keeps the user hooked so they have to see it all in order to get the result. It’s a great way to approach it, the short clips showing process like you said are key as they have to be interesting enough to hold the users attention, I’ve heard small cuts can be good as it shows something new consistently. As for hash tags I agree they are not worth the effort, maybe TikTok like you said but on IG is more about SEO now and writing a good caption to compliment the video.
@@MaxWeir That's interesting! Maybe I should put more effort into my captions. My last post's caption was just one word 😆 It did pretty well in terms of views though
i recently did start to show the procces behind my stuff, thats not even a render or anything just a plain model with some textures, and that got alot more reach and likes, then my other posts. so i can confirm it really does help to show the progress. but i still have to level up my editing game...
@@vf_3dI tried to instal davinci resolve but I could get it installed, same with a bunch of other stuff, so I use clipchamp in my browser, so I don't have to download anything.
Hi Viktor, thank you for this very informative video. I can see how the brief showing of the model being made can be a great hook. Interesting re the hashtag situation. I have wondered for a while about recording and showing work ( I mainly do interior Arch viz renders) but not knowing where to start in the many different components putting it all together with sound/music all the editing ( there is a recommendation for your next video ) have you tried capcut that I have heard of others using? Also is that a conscious decision about being ‘faceless’ in you videos and do you think it makes a difference for or against?
@@Visuals_by_Design Glad you liked the video! And thanks for the recommendation for a video idea 💡 I've tried capcut! I use it for automatic subtitles sometimes. For editing I use the free version of DaVinci Resolve. I think editing in Capcut would take a lot longer, so I highly recommend DaVinci. It's great for color correction/grading as well! Faceless videos are basically because I don't have a camera or microphone. So I use my phone as a microphone, but it has to be pretty close to my face to get good audio, and therefore I can't really use it to record video. For my Instagram reels and tiktok videos I don't think my face would add much, but I'll probably show my mug more in RU-vid videos in the future!
@@kilianstarzengruber6835 Hejsan hoppsan! No that's not what I mean. I mean people like la_barbed, Max Hay, nichenovus, nagafujiriku and others. They upload great animations and get millions of views!
Hi Viktor, i saw your tiktok video of your art and it was fun to watch. Thank you for all the great tips. I recently started too, to show my art process and final reveal. One question i have is, should i show my final artwork in the thumbnail of shorts?
@@jensworld444 Yes I remember we talked a bit on TikTok! I'm glad you appreciate the tips ✌️ I usually show the final render in the thumbnail, both on TikTok and Instagram. It just makes the profile grid look better in my opinion. I don't think it affects reach because most viewers find videos on their for you page, which doesn't show the thumbnail.
@@vf_3d Glad you remember me :) thanks for your answer. I don' t gain much views on instagram and i have no idea why.. maybe i need more patience? Or people are simply not interested in my art haha
@@jensworld444 Your views here on RU-vid are proof that people are interested, so I don't think it's that. If a video does well on one platform, it usually does pretty well on other platforms as well, so it's strange that you get less views on Instagram. I'd say just keep uploading and you'll probably be recognised there as well!
What do you do to boost your reach at the start? Do you have to pay to sponsor your videos, or did you ever have to go into comments and ask people to view your profile? Do these help or do you feel it was possible for you to gain views without doing these?
@@cptbaguette I tried paying for exposure with TikToks built-in promotion function like a year ago. I only paid like $2 which translated into a few thousand views. After that I've never done anything like it. I've never gone to comments to ask people to follow or stuff like that. I don't think it works. People just get annoyed by that.
Thank you for your insights! I really like the way you make your reels. And you're right. It was the main reason why I started following you. As for myself. It would not feel right to copy your move because it's your style. I've gotta find my own. Nonetheless. Thank you for sharing! What worked for me to get millions of views is to show side by side the before after simultaneously Got some good views on Instagram. But where it really blew up was Facebook Got me up to 80k followers and counting. Not saying you should do that. Just worked out for me and my algorithm Have a good one
@@PhilFlock Yeah it's true, we all gotta find our own style. I didn't invent this method though, I saw other people doing something similar and gave it a try! I guess my thing is the quick edits? Idk. Oh yeah I've seen some of your side by sides, that's a great way to showcase your work! Never tried Facebook. I did try LinkedIn tho 😆 Not a lot of success there
@@vf_3d I made my first $1000 through Facebook reels last month. You definitely shouldn't sleep on that. I'm glad you made it on RU-vid tho. That's great. I'm sure you'll be making a lot of cash soon. Not saying you haven't been making cash before but you know. Instagram monetization is very inconsistent
