@@logiic8835 It's a phrase used in India and it means things that happen in India. I don't know the exact word for it in english and I'm not sure if it even exists
I watched this video 9 months ago, thinking I had no chance of getting anywhere near what you got. Regardless, I followed your advice completely and it payed off! I am now sitting on a comfortable 44 predicted with all 7s at my higher level subjects. Mani, u r a LEGEND.
Hey man thats amazing to hear! I am starting IB in a few days. Can you please help me by perhaps sending a few notes or advice you might have? I am really stressing out here lmao. I take Econ hl, bs hl, math hl, eng sl, Spanish ab initio, and ess.
@@ramanujanvenkatraman8540 The IB is tough. No denying it. That first term in Upper Sixth is brutal because of so many IAs. However, I honestly think that with the right attitude, and the right subject choices for you, anyone can get an excellent grade (42+). The main thing I would say is that the curriculum and study program directly corresponds to what is going to be on tests and final exams, so as long as you pay attention during lessons and do homework’s to the best of your abilities, there is no reason why you shouldn’t do fantastic in every single exam. I cannot stress this enough, homeworks are SO important, they are the main source of evidence for your teachers to base your predicted grades (on top of exams) so it is crucial that you do them well and hand them in on time. However, it is inevitable that you will sometimes just not be able to do them for the due date, which is why it is so important to maintain good communication with your teachers. Another important thing is your approach to studying. What differentiates the IB from other programs is that memorisation alone will not take you far. What is important is genuinely understanding everything on the course, and if you don’t, at least note it down so you can catch up during holidays. Essentially, study smart, not hard. I honestly wouldn’t stress that much about the IB, as long as you stay on top of your workload and limit procrastination, you will genuinely cruise through your first year. Second year gets a bit tougher, but the main thing to remember is that even though you have IAs to do, it is important to keep up with studying for your course. I wish you the best of luck for your studies!
Genuinely glad to see people doing the IB actually get into Oxford. Considering that oxbridge don’t really like the IB. I.e 42 points 776 or AAA at A level. Bullshit
@@rampranavnavendran8330 he got a 44 that's why he got in... the min. entry requirement is 39 so that students actually register....I feel like anyone below a score of 43 shouldn't apply to oxbridge
@@krishagarwal1844 He said he got an offer of 39. So even if he got 39 , he would have got in because that's the offer. Oxford actually emphasises more on their entrance tests in various subjects more than anything. So if you get something like 39 and still get top 2% in their entrance test you'll still have a good chance of getting in
@@turbothrottletrouble4217 It was easy. I'm not sure if I was a weirdo or something but I was perhaps the only one in my school who found HL physics to be quite easy and doable and maths HL to be insanely hard. Actually other people are way better than me at maths HL but suck at physics. IDK why if it's a problem with me.
@@achyuththouta6957 yeah just you, did math aa hl, its a lot easier for me, but that is probably because I started calc a lot earlier due to add maths. Physics is still significantly harder for me atm.
I just finished the IB programme and i cannot agree more with everything you said! A very informative and useful video for anyone doing or considering the programme!
Hi@@alia4892! I guess I'm doing okay haha, thanks for asking! Exams are only four months away and I have sooooo much to do between now and then but I guess I'll just have to work hard and hopefully it'll all be okay! None of my teachers are worried for me so at least that's a plus, but let's see how it goes :)
this is by far the best video on IB that exists out there - your advice is so clear and specific whereas most other videos just say "oh you need to study" and not much else. i'm starting it next year, these are super helpful tips to keep in mind :)
Currently in my first year of the IB, but I have two exams this year due to taking classes the year before (America is weird). I am hoping I can become bilingual for my Spanish Exam in next month :3 Your video really motivated me :)
Wow, this is very inspiring. I'm heading towards the end of year 12 and I feel like i'm falling behind. This is definitely a mental boost for me. I guess it's not too late to change my approach, just have to push myself even more starting from now and dedicate Summer to mastering this years material and EE, IA. Thanks for the vid
Im from Malawi.I did the IGCSE and I knew nothing on the IB diploma till now........and oh my my my my..I lOVEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD.....this video......I will be going to United world college to do the IB diploma so this this...this was pure gold....blessed beyond belief I tell you.You are amazing...God bless!!!! ive never appreciated anything this much for long.
I am an UWC student (since 2013), finished my IGCSE last year and just started my IB this year. I do hope you enjoy your UWC life (and good luck with your IB as well)!
Finishing my end of year exams (which will weigh on my predicted scores) by tomorrow... Felt like I screwed up everything so bad that I was feeling so demotivated to study any further. Surfing through IB videos and found this and you won't believe how motivational and helpful this was, that halfway through the video it got me tidying my desk and start getting some notes out to study and get things back on track! Thank you so much!!
I´m Ecuadorian, I´m in the first year of this IB program, I have to say that this program it´s so hard! and watching your video now, helps me a lot, Thanks! Thanks for the tips!.... Right now I´m happy that I understand mostly of you were saying..... Ps: sorry for any mistake in my grammar, I´m learning :)
I started the IB this year and your video has inspired me to become more motivated. I started taking notes and everything you said and starting tomorrow I will try to be a more organized person regarding my studies because I consider myself a good student but I am such a procrastinator, plus I stress about EVERYTHING. I will honestly try to improve this aspect, thank you so much for inspiring me! Let's hope I don't die during these two years lol
Good luck to me, Business Management, History and Indonesian B, all HL, as a Year 2 lazy student whose 7th-10th grade consists of lying around, doing nothing. My IGCSE results were really good for some reason, even though I didn't really study. I was shocked I got three A's and 2 B's. But that's IGCSE; IB really hit different. I'm already failing two of my HL classes bruh... I wanna cry. I also suck at Math SL, and Physics SL as well :( I got 24/45 for my last final exam. The one before that I got 29/45 (good enough for me). I mean 24/45?!?!? I barely passed...
When wifi reaches its pinnachole of efficiency and you remember how valuable electricity can be.One video incorporating all that.Ive watched many videos on the IB but this is the best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Watching this on the night (or rather, the morning) I wrote my first draft of the extended essay. Was at 0 words yesterday at 8:00 and I’m at 3,000 and going now (5:11 AM) and I actually think it’s pretty decent for a first draft
I'm about to start my IBDP and I cannot express how worried I am. Suppose I follow guides, do my work, copy notes and create flash cards but still mess up. It's very intimidating!
I feel so bad now. I am in my second year of IB (I graduate in November ) and I haven't done any of the tips you've said. But since now I promise to myself that I will no longer procrastinate. Starting with my homework right NOW! 5 months for the first exam!!!! Thank you for the video. I really needed to hear this. 💕
I watched your video before starting IB. You really motivated me so thank you. Next year I am taking the external Assessment but I am very very afraid with the quarantine and everything. Anyway Thank you once again
thank you for such an intelligent and helpful video! i'm starting the IB in august. my classes will be english lit/lang HL, history HL, chemistry HL, spanish B SL, math SL, and psychology SL. i'll remember to keep up the motivation throught the entire "marathon"! :)
My subjects; English Literature A HL Mandarin B SL Economics HL Biology SL Mathematics AA SL Business Management HL I’m gonna get a 7 on all of the subjects and I’ll have one of the best work ethic
I'm starting IB next year and I am stressing out. I have no clue what I want to study or what university I want to go to. I'm worried I messed up by not choosing to take chemistry but I feel like I would never be able to survive that class.
thanks ! I just finished IB1 and to tell you the truth I did not do that well on 1 of my HL subjects and I think some of your tips will really help me out with it ! THANK YOU ! 😭
I am actually going to do my IB as a German, it will be very much harder for me, since I am ot a native speaker! I really will do my best to smash this 40+ points, anyways!
canadian moving into grade 11... not oxford material but my sights are on u of t. I felt bad about myself this year because I pulled a 90 on gr 11 functions despite knowing everything, just suffered from stupid mistakes everywhere. hearing about this guy's english mark in grade 10 inspired me. hopefully I can clean it up next year. ps: I wish we didn't have french! I studied just a little bit of spanish in my free time, less than french, and it's already so much easier than french. even german is nicer. I'd be surprised to land more than a 5 going on 6...
I am so scared about the IB especially because my school is new in all this stuff. I am starting the IB program next year and we are the third generation in my school. I really don't know what subjects should I choose :( Anyway, thank you for the video, Ii feel much more confident and calmed.
I felt more ready to start IB, after watching your video. I would be more grateful if you can make a video on both for Maths HL and Physics hL as well. Thanks you very much very helpful.
Omgggg my IB results day is in a month and I’m definitely not getting 44 points 😂 I’m hoping for 34 though 🙏 but good on you, I struggled so much towards the end
Wow awesome video, thank you for for all the amazing tips; it’s obvious that you really care about helping others which is fantastic. I wish you all the best, and I genuinely hope that your channel continues to bloom wonderfully 😊.
On reflection I have to say qualifications are not 'all that'. They're a stepping stone to your next exam. Only later will a qualification lead directly to employment. There are many ways into employment, so if you mess up at school or in your GCSE's all is not lost. I've learned more than anything else in life you have to be flexible in your approach and attitude. And yes, I know that's easier said than done.
I totally agree with you, exams and qualification are not everything, and it's important that everyone understand that there are so many different routes that lead to careers. I was having this conversation with a friend the other day, who explained to me that rather than forcing up university application rates, we should be making sure that everyone knows the options available to them, before forcing them down the university pipeline, because it's no the be all and end all. Totally agree with you!
first of all, be honest okay, ib is easy compared to oxford... i'm a first year math major at MIT and i can tell you that it's useless (?) When you are parred with IMO Medalists, competition winners, i need to work more and harder than them, but they also work hard, so i wonder when i'll be there?
@@enkhmendbatbold621 that's a mystery for me too... :( why'd i chose math major? because i was good at math (in high school) and i do love math...but now, i still love math but i'm not good at it anymore (sure, i'm not the worst in the class, but you know :D
im watching this in pre-ib :(( highkey scared but i know it’s going to prepare me for university and make essay writing and give me life skills that ap won’t!
I also did IB. It was a waste of energy and time for nothing. I remember burning my diploma because it wasn't as helpful as I was told. The IB diploma is good for one thing............................ toilet paper.
Keep up the great work Mani! Plz make a video regarding English (SL) cuz that's something difficult to excel, and a proper guidance is necessary for a perfect 7 score:)
Hey! I'm about to start Y13 and currently writing my extended essay. I just wanted to know if you have any specific tips for economics HL because I revised for that subject the most during our end-of-year mock exam and it ended up being my worst grade (I got a 4 when I've been getting 6s all year). My teacher still kept my prediction of 6 which was a relief but I'm more worried now because my teacher often writes his own tests rather than use actual exams and often I'm not entirely sure how to tackle past papers i see online. Also in geography they completely changed our syllabus so we have a new syllabus and none of the past papers apply, what would you recommend I do apart from the specimen paper (that I've already done)?
wow this is so helpful! I also have troubles with English and was taking notes like crazy but missing key points in the syllabus. Thanks for the advice, Mani!
Hey, thank you for this video, Mani! It helped me calm down, as I am starting my first year in IB in a few days. Do you have any specific advice on HL math? Because everyone is scaring me about it and I am not that strong in mathematics. Hope to hear from you! regards, ram
